Nerazzurri Treble Hero Julio Cesar: “I’m Proud To Have Made My Mark In Inter’s History”

In an interview with Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport, legendary Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar has revealed that he never stops thinking about Inter’s famous treble win, 10 years to the day since Inter completed it by winning the Champions League.

“I always think of the Triplete, not only these days. It was an extraordinary triumph, not surprisingly only managed by a few teams. I am proud to have put a stamp in the history of Inter and world football,” the former Brazilian national team shot stopper explained in the interview which appeared in today’s print edition of the Turin based newspaper.

Cesar then went on to give an insight into how life in his new venture as a football agent has treated him so far.

The former Flamengo and Toronto goalkeeper joined Inter in the Summer of 2005 from fellow Serie A side Chievo Verona and he gave seven years of service to Inter before departing for English side Queen’s Park Rangers.

“I’m at the beginning, at the moment I manage Thiago Silva from Flamengo and Gabriel Brazao, who Inter have loaned to Albacete. They are two young goalkeepers.”

During his years on Inter’s books, the now 40-year-old made a total of 300 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he kept 128 clean sheets and won 14 trophies.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte To Increase Workload In Training Starting Next Week

Inter manager Antonio Conte had the players play an 11 versus 11 match against one another in training yesterday according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

With the team having been allowed to train in groups since May 18, Conte has now started the recovery process from a tactical point of view.

The team played a match whilst respecting the social distancing rules still in place which meant players could not closely man mark one another.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to state that Antonio Conte has the entire squad at his disposal and no current injury problems with Stefano Sensi and Victor Moses both having recovered from their recent injury issues.

It also goes on to add that as it gets closer to the 2019/20 Serie A season possibly resuming, Conte will up the tempo and workload in training, possibly as soon as this coming Monday.

Inter Vice President Zanetti: “Winning Champions League With Inter Is Unforgettable, We’re Working To Be Protagonists Again”

In an interview with Italian broadcaster Rai Sport this evening, legendary former Inter captain and current club vice president Javier Zanetti has reminisced about winning the treble with Inter.

Today marks 10 years to the day since Inter completed the feat very few clubs in history have managed by winning their domestic league, domestic cup and the Champions League.

Inter clinched the Coppa Italia, followed it up by clinching the Serie A title and completed the historic treble, that no other Italian club has ever achieved, by winning the Champions League on this day 10 years ago with thanks to a Diego Milito brace against Bayern Munich.

“For me, that evening is an unforgettable moment. I am honoured to have raised that trophy for such a team. That day I played 700 games with Inter, I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” former Argentine international Zanetti began the interview.

“There we were at the peak of a winning cycle, perhaps we could not ask for more. Today Inter are building something important together with a great manager. We are working to return to being protagonists, we hope that great goals will come.”

Zanetti joined Inter in the Summer of 1995 from Superliga Argentina club Banfield and spent the next 19 years on the Nerazzurri’s books before retiring after no less than 858 appearances across all competitions for the club, which is an Inter record.

French Media Claim Inter & AC Milan Are Interested In Marseille’s Florian Thauvin

Inter and AC Milan are both interested in signing Marseille attacker Florian Thauvin according to a report from French news outlet Le10Sport.com.

2018 World Cup winner Thauvin’s contract with the Ligue 1 side is due to expire at the end of next season and although Marseille have every intention of trying to extend his stay at the Stade Velodrome, a prospect of a renewal seems very far away at the moment.

The Nerazzurri and Rossoneri clubs are not alone in courting the former Newcastle United player, with the report going on to add that Marseille’s fellow Ligue 1 outfit Nice are also surprisingly interested in him but the report adds that he could be out of their reach, just like Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The 27-year-old, who is in his second spell with Marseille, which began in 2017, has been a key player for Marseille in recent seasons but has managed just two appearances across all competitions this term as a result of a serious injury.

Torino Slap €25M Price Tag On Inter Target Armando Izzo

Torino have laid out their demands for central defender Armando Izzo according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Italian international is one of a number of players who could leave the Granata for pastures new in the coming months and Torino president Urbano Cairo would allow the former Genoa player to leave should the club receive an offer between €20-25 million.

Inter are interested in signing him with Inter manager Antonio Conte said to be a big fan of Izzo, who he believes could be an ideal reinforcement for the club’s defensive department.

The report goes on to explain that rather than meet Cairo’s demands, Inter could look to include a player as part of any deal.

Although not named in this report, Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has been heavily linked to the Turin based club and he could well be a player that Inter choose to help them land Izzo.

Treble Hero Douglas Maicon: “Winning The Champions League Is The Best Thing That Happened To Me At Inter”

Legendary Inter full back Maicon has reminisced about his years on Inter’s books and discussed a range of topics and firstly discussed his best moment in a Nerazzurri shirt.

“The best thing that happened to me at Inter was certainly the Champions League victory,” the former Brazilian national team player remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

“It was an important title, not only for the players but also for the club and mainly for the president. He wanted it so much. In the end we reached this goal. There are no regrets, what I wanted to do I did and I’m happy with my career.”

He then cast his mind all the way back to when he joined Inter from Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in the Summer of 2006.

“The first contact was between Oriali and my agent. From that first call I knew that Inter really wanted me and then joining Inter became my goal. It was time to become a real footballer and I am happy to have worn this shirt.”

He then spoke more on former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti and the members of the treble winning team.

“He is unique. For me it will be the only president that Inter will have.

“That side had many leaders, but the important thing was that, when going on the field, one fought for the other. You don’t have to be friends, you have to run for each other that was our strength.”

Maicon, who also played for Roma and Manchester City during his career, then recalled his famous goal that he scored in the Derby D’Italia against Juventus.

“It was the best goal of my career. It was an important moment in the season and scoring past Buffon is not for everyone. I’m happy, it was not easy and it was a great goal. It went perfect and I was lucky that everything went well.”

Next he discussed what he believes was the most important moment in Inter’s journey to winning the Champions League.

“For me it was in Kiev, against Dinamo. It was the turning point of season as with a defeat we would have gone out. There was bad weather and we were tired, it was the end of the year. Then winning against Chelsea twice gave a huge charge to get to the end.”

He then spoke on Inter’s semi final opponents Barcelona.

“Barcelona? If you want to win, you have to kill them immediately: with one game they could change the game. The desire to go to the final was great.

“Messi is the strongest of all. I remember when Thiago Motta was sent off. I spoke with Lucio, Samuel, Chivu and Zanetti saying that we had to demonstrate our defensive work and we defended well.

“Eto’o was the left back, Pandev was on the right. It went well and we suffered to the end. It was a real semi final.”

He then went on to discuss the final itself where Inter came up against fellow treble chasers Bayern Munich.

“People said it was going to be easy as we had eliminated Barcelona but it was different for us players. We knew how strong Bayern were and that they could also win the treble. It was a perfect game. Milito was magical and made the difference.

“There were great emotions afterwards, it was an important moment for me, the club and my teammates. We deserved it. Winning the treble was not easy and they will remain in history forever. They are special moments.”

In conclusion Maicon recalled the celebrations in the early hours of the following day back in Milan.

“They were beautiful. There was 60,000 people at San Siro at six in the morning, that is not normal! It was a gift for everyone. Everyone worked hard to make history. I thank all of those who love me for this and my family members, who have always supported and done so much for me.”

Italian Media Reports Inter & Barcelona’s Negotiations Over Lautaro Martinez Almost Dead

Barcelona are trying to insert Samuel Umtiti into a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez at all costs according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset which was aired a short time ago.

Talks between the two clubs over the highly rated 22-year-old are currently at a standstill with the clubs having been unable to come to an agreement over a counterpart or possible counterparts to include into any deal for the Argentine international.

Arthur is more open to leaving the Catalonia based club but appears more inclined to join Inter’s arch rivals Juventus instead whilst a number of other clubs are keen on signing Nelson Semedo.

Inter like young full back Junior Firpo but the report goes on to explain that Barcelona are doing all they can to include 2018 World Cup winner Umtiti into a deal but Inter manager Antonio Conte and the management are perplexed by this.

Ex-Inter Director Paolillo: “Messi Could Arrive At Inter, Lautaro Martinez Is Worth €120m, Inter Should Sign Timo Werner”

Former Inter dircetor Ernesto Paolillo has spoken on former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti, and what winning the Champions League as part of Inter’s historic treble winning season meant to Moratti.

“First of all the president dreamed of and wanted the Champions League because in those years he had already won some Scudetto,” Paolillo remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

“The dream of winning the treble only came in the few months before it happened but the big dream was always the Champions League.

“There was a firm determination that it could be achieved with a great manager. Moratti was determined to see the team go all the way that year and in my opinion this determination helped in other competitions too because the team was good at staying focused.

“The president, who knows how to use both the stick and carrot well, also knew how to convey the great desire that the team needed. As I was close to him, there were some moments where he was tense but he was good at hiding it.

“Despite this, he was good at conveying peace of mind to the team and autonomy to the manager, who was extremely free to do what he wanted. Everyone wanted to do their best not to achieve the goal for themselves but for the president, who deserved it.”

Paolillo then went on to share his belief that Lionel Messi could end up at Inter in the future.

“Could he arrive? Theoretically yes. Let’s not forget how and why Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Italy. Whether right or wrong that it is, the tax legislation present today favours the arrival of players who have certain economic and brand interests.

“They have incredible tax breaks, and therefore a great player can take advantage of this legislation. So just how Ronaldo arrived, Messi can arrive too.”

He was then asked whether he thinks any of Inter’s current squad would have been able to play in Inter’s treble winning side.

“Each team has its time and its players, prepared for the type of football present at that time. It is therefore difficult to answer this question. Personally, I think that precisely because of the type of athlete Lukaku is, he probably could have played alongside one of Eto’o and Milito, although they were a formidable partnership.”

He then went on to discuss the continued speculation relating to Lautaro Martinez’s future with Inter as he continues to be linked with a potential move to La Liga powershouses Barcelona.

“I believe that to make a great winning team you need to have all the departments complete. Thinking about sacrificing Lautaro Martinez hurts, because he is a great player who can still grow a lot.

“However, if that can be used to complete the team in other departments, his departure will be welcome. The right price? Given his age and the value that the player already boasts today, I would say he is worth €120 million upward.”

In conclusion he was asked which player he would like to see Inter bring to the club in the coming months.

“Let’s see…if I had to buy a player for Inter, I would take a young German, who plays for RB Leipzig, who is scoring tonnes of goals, you know who he is.

“Anyway, I will tell you something, Inter are lucky to have stable, secure and strong owners in Suning and a president like Zhang and two great directors in Marotta and Antonello, who know how to do the best for the club.

“This is the biggest peace of mind that we fans can have.”

Paolillo joined Inter back in the Summer of 2006 and took over from Mauro Gambaro and spent just over six years with the club.
