Spanish Media – Barcelona Optimistic Of Convincing Inter To Accept Junior Firpo + €70M For Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona remain optimistic that they can do a player plus cash deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez according to a report from Mundo Deportivo journalist Francesc Aguilar.

The Blaugrana club have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old sensation for some time now and as per Aguilar’s report, they are optimistic that Inter will accept a deal consisting of Junior Firpo, who will be valued at €41 million plus a cash sum somewhere between €60-70 million.

Aguilar’s report comes a day after Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta reiterated for the umpteenth time that Inter are not in a position where they need to sell any of their players, Lautaro Martinez included.

Reports elsewhere in the media and Inter management have stated that they are unwilling to accept anything less than his €111 million release clause or €90 million plus one player.

This season the Argentine national team player has made 34 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 17 goals and tallied four assists.

Rubin Kazan Manager Slutsky: “Inter’s Joao Mario Embellishes The Russian League”

Ahead of his side’s match against Lokomotiv Moscow, Rubin Kazan manager Leonid Slutsky has sang the praises of Lokomotiv Moscow’s Joao Mario.

The Portuguese national team attacking midfielder joined the Russian capital city club on a season long loan this past Summer with an option to buy set at €18 million.

“Lokomotiv are one of the best-equipped teams in the league. In my opinion, players such as Grzegorz Krychowiak and Joao Mario level embellish our league. There aren’t many players like them now, they really make a difference,” Slutsky explained in his pre-match press conference.

Euro 2016 winner Joao Mario joined Inter in the Summer of 2016 from Portuguese giants Sporting CP but very rarely managed to perform to expectations when representing the Nerazzurri.

He has made 69 appearances across all competitions to date for Inter, in which he has scored four goals and provided 13 assists for his teammates.

Whilst on loan at Lokomotiv Moscow, who are reportedly not going to sign him outright, Joao Mario has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just shy of 1400 minutes, he has scored one goal and tallied four assists.

Lazio Meeting With Hellas Verona To Wrap Up Signing Of Inter Linked Marash Kumbulla

Lazio are in pole position to land Hellas Verona central defender Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

Lazio are currently meeting with Hellas Verona to hold talks over the highly rated young Albanian national team player.

As per the report, which has appeared on Di Marzio’s eponymous website, Hellas Verona president Maurizio Setti and sporting director Tony D’Amico are meeting with Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare.

Inter have shown a keen interest in the 20-year-old as of late as have current Serie A leaders Juventus but it would appear that Lazio are closing in on signing Kumbulla, who has had a first team breakthrough at the Gialloblu club this term.

This season Kumbulla has made 21 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just shy of 1800 minutes, he has scored one goal.

Inter Undecided On Making Move For Lazio Linked Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla

Inter are pondering whether to make a move for Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Lazio have made a move for the highly rated Albanian national team player and Inter management are reflecting on whether they should counter this move or not.

Inter have a long standing interest in the 20-year-old defender and held talks with Hellas Verona over him back in January and club leaders are thinking about whether they should spend the money required to sign Kumbulla or allocate the funds toward players more functional to Antonio Conte’s project immediately.

If Inter do not sign Kumbulla, they could well put the money toward the likes of Sandro Tonali, Arturo Vidal, Federico Chiesa and Marcos Alonso.

The report goes on to add that the emergence of young defender Alessandro Bastoni has also got Inter reflecting on whether they need Kumbulla or not.

It also goes on to state that due to Bastoni’s emergence, they could pursue an older player such as Francesco Acerbi or Jan Vertonghen to complete the defence or go after someone who would cost a lot less such as Malang Sarr.

Inter are currently in no hurry and have no real plans to think about the transfer market until August time once the season is over and appear to have other priorities to Kumbulla.

The report concludes that it remains to be seen what Kumbulla wants. Will he wait to get a move to Inter or will he accept Lazio’s courtship.

Official – Newcastle Extend Loan Of Inter Owned Valentino Lazaro Until End Of Season

Inter and Valentino Lazaro have both agreed to extend his current loan deal with Newcastle United until the end of the season according to a statement published by the Premier League club on their website.

Lazaro joined the Magpies on a six month loan deal with option to buy in the most recent January transfer window and that loan was due to expire at the end of this month but his loan is set to be extended until the end of August.

Whilst Newcastle United confirm Inter and Lazaro are in agreement over an extension, the relevant documentation still needs to be finalised and that should be completed in the coming days.

The Austrian national team full back only joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal from Hertha Berlin but having struggled to break into the Inter team in the first half of the season he was loaned to Newcastle United.

Since his arrival, he has made seven appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal.

Italian Report Highlights Inter’s Poor Defensive Record Since Start Of 2020

In today’s print edition, Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport have highlighted Inter’s poor defensive record since the turn of the year.

Inter have played 10 league games in 2020 and have managed to record just one clean sheet in them. The Nerazzurri have conceded 14 goals in the nine games they have conceded in with them conceding more than one goal in four of their last five matches.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to state that such a defensive record is no good for a team with the ambitions that Inter have and having conceded three against Sassuolo last night which meant the match ended 3-3, Inter’s Serie A title hopes are as good as gone now.

Inter Inter’s 27 league games played so far, they have conceded a total of 28 goals, which is the third best record overall in the league with league leaders Juventus and Lazio only managing to concede less than that.

Inter Legend Riccardo Ferri: “If Gagliardini Scores The Game Takes A Different Turn”

Riccardo Ferri has shared his belief that last night’s match could have panned out differently had Roberto Gagliardini finished the chance he missed.

With Inter 2-1 up, the ball fell to Gagliardini in front of an open net just a few yards out and rather than put it away the Italian midfielder somehow managed to cannon the ball off the bar and miss.

This miss came back to haunt Inter as Sassuolo would score next. Inter then scored again but their lead was short lived as Sassuolo responded soon after and this meant the points were shared between the two sides.

“It is not so much that second half went wrong but more the first half. Until the 34th minute, when Biraghi shot, Inter had never had a shot on goal,” Ferri explained during an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier on today.

“In the second half, however, Inter really created a lot. Gagliardini’s miss that hit the crossbar is emblematic. If he had scored, Inter would have gone on 3-1 up and the game would have taken a different turn.”

Ferri, who spent 13 years at Inter, then went on to insist that Inter must learn how to manage being in the lead in matches with them having failed to kill games off several times throughout this season.

“A team that is ahead must know how to manage it. They must have the ability to keep the ball. In the end, there remains a great regret for what happened.”

Italian Media Highlights Inter’s Collapse During The Second Half Of The Season

Inter have once again had a slump in the second half of the season a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport highlights.

Inter manager Antonio Conte had an almost immediate impact and Inter were sitting at the top of the table back at the start of January following a 3-1 away win over Napoli but since then they have fallen eight points behind arch rivals Juventus – who are now sitting top of the table – in the following nine matches.

In addition to failing to win direct clashes with Juventus and Lazio, Inter also failed to achieve wins over the likes of Lecce, Cagliari and most recently Sassuolo.

The report goes on to add that this is far from the first time that this has happened to Inter in recent years with it also having happened to Luciano Spalletti in both of his seasons in charge and Roberto Mancini too.

Beppe Marotta Knows Many Changes To Inter’s Squad Needed In Order To Mount Serie A Title Challenge

Following last night’s 3-3 draw with Sassuolo, something has become completely clear to Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The thing that has become clear to Marotta is that if Inter want to achieve their ambition of challenging for the Serie A title then work needs to be done on the transfer market to improve the team.

Marotta and other members of Inter’s management team left San Siro following last night’s match with the feeling that there is still a lot to do and that too many players in the squad are struggling whilst playing at a certain level.

Ahead of the upcoming transfer window Inter have drawn no shortage of links to players. Inter have drawn links to players in pretty much every position and top targets seemingly include Brescia and Italian national team midfielder Sandro Tonali.
