They are linked by the number on the back of the jersey (10) but the comparisons between Mateo Kovacic and Roberto Mancini in his playing days aren’t valid yet according to Corriere dello Sport. At aged 20 Mancio had already defined a role within the team and become decisive within matches. Although Kovacic has shown signs of improvement in the early months of this season, he’s yet to find that continuity Mancini found at such a young age. The new Inter boss hasn’t excluded any role for Kovacic, even as a deep lying playmaker (the role he had under Stramaccioni). For now the young Croatian is studying how to play trequartista and looks to progress under Mancini’s guidance. If certain reinforcements arrive the idea of moving Kovacic’s position within the team can’t be ruled out. The comparisons with Mancini are premature but both player and coach are working at getting the very best out of the situation.
