After trying – and failing – to replace Gonzalo Higuain with Mauro Icardi during his time at Napoli, Maurizio Sarri will again go after Maurito once confirmed as the new manager of Chelsea. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would be willing the pay the €110 million release clause, that is only valid for foreign clubs until July 15th, as a gift for the Italian tactician.

According to Corriere dello Sport: “Icardi should naturally be convinced by a substantial increase to his salary that will total to 5.3 million euros, including goal bonuses next season. Wanda Nara has asked Inter for an increase to 8 million euros which is something Inter are currently hesitant to meet, while it wouldn’t be a problem for Chelsea. It will hopefully be with the charm of London and deep pockets of Abramovich that will attract the Argentine to the move. The main concern is to do with Chelsea’s latest Premier League campaign, having finished fifth, meaning they will not take part in next seasons Champions League, that Maurito has been pushing for and finally conquered. It would be a painful renouncement but the opportunity to work for a coach like Sarri, who has given success to both Higuain and Mertens could persuade him to take the risk. The Blues have prepared their assault and there is nothing Inter can do about it, the final decision will be Mauro’s.”

La prossima stagione vedrà il ritorno dell’Inter in Champions League. La qualificazione della squadra nerazzurra dopo 7 anni di assenza non sarà il solo cambiamento alla massima competizione calcistica europea

IL NUOVO REGOLAMENTO – La UEFA infatti ha annunciato sul proprio sito altre cinque modifiche al regolamento in vigore nel triennio 2018-2021. A seguire i principali cambiamenti che toccheranno anche l’Inter:

• QUARTA SOSTITUZIONE – Dalla stagione 2018/19, potrà essere effettuata una quarta sostituzione nelle partite a eliminazione diretta esclusivamente nei supplementari. Questa modifica non influenzerà le altre tre sostituzioni.

• CONVOCABILI IN FINALE – Eccezionalmente per la finale, 23 giocatori (invece dei 18 di tutte le altre partite) potranno essere inseriti nella distinta di gara. Questo permetterà di avere a disposizione 12 sostituti in panchina (invece dei classici sette) per le finali in questione – dando così ai club e in particolare agli allenatori una maggiore elasticità nella gestione della squadra per la partita più importante della stagione.

• NUOVI ORARI PARTITE – Gli spareggi di UEFA Champions League, le partite della fase a gironi, gli ottavi di finale, i quarti, semifinali e finale, inizieranno alle 21:00CET. Tuttavia, durante ciascuna giornata della fase a gironi, due partite di martedì e due di mercoledì inizieranno alle 18:55CET. Tutte le partite dell’ultima giornata invece si giocheranno in contemporanea. Eventuali eccezioni a questa regola potranno essere effettuate dall’amministrazione UEFA.

• LISTE CHAMPIONS – Per quanto riguarda la registrazione dei giocatori dopo la fase a gironi di UEFA Champions League e UEFA Europa League, un singolo club potrà inserire in rosa tre nuovi calciatori idonei senza alcuna restrizione. Questa modifica è in linea con la situazione normativa esistente nei vari campionati nazionali, che non impone restrizioni sull’ammissibilità alle competizioni di giocatori registrati da un nuovo club durante la finestra di mercato invernale.

• ACCESSO – Le squadre che accederanno direttamente alla fase a gironi di UEFA Champions League saranno 26, tra cui le vincitrici della UEFA Champions League e della UEFA Europa League. I posti messi in palio dalle qualificazioni saranno sei. Ogni squadra eliminata nelle qualificazioni di UEFA Champions League avrà una seconda possibilità in UEFA Europa League.

Intervistato ai microfoni di “TuttoMercatoWeb.com”, Mauro Bellugi, ex terzino dell’Inter, ha rilasciato alcune dichiarazioni parlando anche della recente voce di mercato di Icardi alla Juventus

“MI PIACCIONO KANE E LEWANDOWSKI” – Queste le parole di Mauro Bellugi: «Icardi alla Juve è un’ipotesi a cui credo poco, sono operazioni che non capisco. Se conosco la Juve manderà Higuain da un’altra parte, magari al PSG, e poi proverà a prendere Icardi. La Juve così facendo indebolisce gli altri. Lo faceva anni fa anche il Milan». Se parte Icardi, dove lo vedrebbe? «Mai ad un’italiana. Dipende anche dalle offerte che arriveranno, il calcio di adesso è un’altra cosa rispetto a quello dei miei tempi». Con chi eventualmente lo sostituirebbe? «E’ difficile. A me piacciono Kane e Lewandowski ma in quanti ci proveranno?». Il futuro dell’Inter come lo vede? «Ora che è in Champions mi auguro che possa riprendersi il posto che ha sempre avuto. Spero che i proprietari, oltre alla necessità di far tornare i conti, possano anche metterci amore e passione. Nel calcio servono anche queste componenti».

If Mauro Icardi were to leave Inter, who would replace him? According to Corriere dello Sport, there are three names on the mind of the Nerazzurri; Rodrigo of Valencia, Belotti of Torino and Dzeko of Roma.

“Icardi’s release clause only applies to foreign Clubs and not Italians,” the Roman newspaper reaffirms. Hypothetically, if another Italian Club wanted to sign Icardi, they could use the the help of a foreign “friend” and Inter would receive a further €50 million euros for the next sale, as written in his contract. Therefore, the total amount that could be collected by Inter is €160 million euros. However, Inter are not interested in this opportunity and would rather renew their captain to 2022 or 2023. For the moment though, there is no rush, they are even confident enough to postpone the negotiations until July 15th, the expiration date of his release clause.

Rodrigo is a very desirable replacement but just like Icardi, the problem is his very high release clause (€120 million) and a contract until 2022, but the Brazilian (with a Spanish passport) really likes Inter. Additionally, Belotti and Dzeko are on the list, even if Cairo values the “Rooster” at no less than 100 million and Monchi does not intend to deprive Roma of the Bosnian without a huge sum.

Inter have decided to try and sign Memphis Depay according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The players is in great condition and has been an integral part of Lyon’s squad. The Dutch Winger has a contract with the French club until 2021 and has just had a fantastic season, scoring 22 goals in 51 games.

With thanks to the Nerazzurri’s qualification into the Champions League, courtesy of Luciano Spalletti, there is no more sympathy for Inter, in terms of finances, as Lyon are aware of the bonuses and will not allow him to leaveon a loan with option/obligation to buy transfer. While Inter’s revenues are on the increase, this does not exclude them from Financial Fair Play. The Dutchman earns €4.2 million per season and is the joint highest paid player in the squad (alongside Mariano Diaz). The Nerazzurri are ahead of rivals Milan in the race, given the known problems for the Rossoneri with them being without Champions League and potentially even being disqualified from the Europa League.

The alternatives remain the usual candidates of Verdi, Politano and Berardi. Furthermore, the sale of Inter’s current wingers are not excluded because with Karamoh growing, one of Perisic or Candreva could say goodbye.

Ho letto qualcosa ma lo trovo difficile, per Icardi sarebbe difficile andare dall’Inter alla Juventus. Credo che in bianconero possa arrivare un giocatore come Edinson Cavani. L’ho conosciuto quando era piccolo, ora è un super attaccante di livello mondiale. Se cederei Higuain? Vedremo che Mondiale farà».
