TESTA A TESTA – «Chi arriva meglio allo scontro diretto? Non lo so. Bisogna vedere cosa succede domenica contro Crotone e Sassuolo. Non sono di certo delle tappe secondarie. Non c’è una differenza di condizione tra le due. Nessuna ha un calo, se non quello prettamente fisiologico. Stanno tenendo bene entrambe, nell’ottica di ottenere il doppio risultato nelle ultime due di campionato».

Ahead of this seasons penultimate Serie A match against Sassuolo, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti gave an interview to Premium Sport, beginning by stressing the importance of the clash.

Spalletti underlined that: “We have this semi-final to play before the final match next Sunday against Lazio. Getting to the Champions League would be like accomplishing the dream we had at the beginning of the season, so we came here at the beginning of the year saying things and then improving on our performances.”

Inter will have to win both of their remaining games in hopes of achieving their goal of reaching Champions League for the first time in many years.

Lazio will be facing Crotone this weekend and currently have a 2 point lead on Inter. Inter must win both of their matches to secure the final CL spot which would put them ahead of Lazio on points in the Serie A table for this season.

Nell’anticipo di questa sera contro l’Inter Giuseppe Iachini dovrebbe confermare il 3-5-2 proposto nelle ultime settimane con Domenico Berardi e Matteo Politano in attacco e lo juventino Rogerio esterno sinistro.

PUNTE MOBILI – Davanti ad Andrea Consigli, vista anche la squalifica di Federico Peluso, ci saranno ancora una volta Mauricio Lemos, Francesco Acerbi e Cristian Dell’Orco con Simone Missiroli, Stefano Sensi e Alfred Duncan in mediana mentre Claud Adjapong e Rogerio avranno invece il compito di aiutare la difesa garantendo al tempo stesso una spinta costante sulle fasce. In attacco, nonostante l’Inter sia la sua vittima preferita, Giuseppe Iachini sembra intenzionato a lasciare comunque in panchina Khouma El Babacar in favore della coppia formata da Domenico Berardi e Matteo Politano con l’idea di non dare riferimenti ai nerazzurri.

The weight of this fixture is so significant that anything other than winning is unacceptable for Inter. With just two points now separating 4th place Lazio from the Nerazzurri, it is very possible that the last Champions League spot could be decided on the final day when the Biancocelesti host the the Nerazzurri at the Olimpico. For now the Nerazzurri have everything to play for in order to keep the fight going. Sassuolo have a very good record against Inter, winning the last encounter earlier this season at home.

Attack:

Inter have scored at least two goals in each of their last four games. They have accumulated 62 goals in total, averaging 1.7 goals from 15 shots per game. The Nerazzurri have scored 36 goals at San Siro, only Napoli, Juve and Lazio have scored more at home. Inter’s ruthlessness in front of goal is increasingly scary, 12 goals in their last 4 games, with striker Mauro Icardi firing in each of those games, notching up 28 goals this season, just one behind current Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile. The Nerazzurri continue to be solid defensively, conceding 26 goals, being second best after Juve who have conceded 23 goals. Sassuolo have conceded 57 goals but they have kept clean sheets in three of their last four games. The Nerazzurri defence makes an average of 16.5 tackles per game and 10.9 interceptions per game. D’Ambrosio leads the charge with 2.5 tackles per game and 1.4 interception per game with Gagliardini ruled out through injury. Signing of the season Skriniar solidifies the back line with 4.7 clearances per game and 0.7 blocks per game. The Neroverdi on the other hand average 14.9 tackles per game and 13.4 interceptions per game.

Moving the ball:

Inter have an average of 85.6% pass accuracy per game with Skriniar averaging 62.2 passes per game with a 91% success rate, only Borja Valero is better at 91.5%. The Nerazzurri also average 54.8% in possession of the ball per game. Candreva has made 8 assists alongside with Croatian duo Perisic and Brozovic, as well as 2.1 key passes per game and also only 1.8 crosses per game. Inter have completed 9.2 dribbles per game with Rafinha averaging 2.1 dribbles per game. Meanwhile Sassuolo have recorded 45.1% ball possession and 75.8% pass accuracy.

Whoscored rating leaders:

Perisic (7.39), Icardi (7.31) and Skriniar (7.24) still retain the top three positions. Meanwhile Politano (6.99), Acerbi (6.97) and Misiroli (6.91) are the three best rated performers for the Neroverdi according to WhoScored.

In attesa di Inter-Sassuolo Matteo Politano, seguito proprio dai nerazzurri, ha dichiarato a La Gazzetta dello Sport di sentirsi pronto per una grande squadra e di non avere nessuna paura di giocare poco.

CATTIVERIA E CONTINUITA’ – «Il mancato approdo al Napoli a gennaio? Di sicuro quelli sono stati giorni travagliati. Avevo paura di aver perso la grande chance di cambiare la mia carriera. Ma sono stati bravi Carnevali e Iachini a dirmi le cose giuste e a farmi capire che avrei avuto altre possibilità di arrivare in un top club. Maturazione completa? Non del tutto, ma negli ultimi mesi sono cresciuto molto: questa è la mia stagione migliore. Iachini mi ha cambiato ruolo: da esterno sono diventato seconda punta, posso seguire l’istinto, ho maggiore libertà e probabilmente è la soluzione migliore per me anche se naturalmente mi trovo molto bene anche sulla fascia. Sta imparando ad usare entrambi i piedi? Sì, alleno molto il destro: prima tendevo a giocare solo di sinistro, ma così ero prevedibile per i difensori. Adesso va meglio. Ma ci sono ancora molti difetti da smussare: devo essere più cattivo in campo e più continuo. Pronto per una grande? Io sono pronto, vedremo se arriveranno offerte. Parlerò con la società e decideremo insieme. Per adesso voglio finire bene la stagione, sia perché giochiamo contro due grandi squadre come Inter e Roma (io sono tifoso giallorosso…) sia perché sono a quota 9 gol e potrei raggiungere per la prima volta la doppia cifra. Giocare meno? Ma per me è sempre stato così dappertutto e non sarebbe un problema. Io non ho paura di niente. Il gol più bello? A San Siro contro il Milan. E a San Siro sto per tornare…».
