Inter have not received any offers or enquiries from other clubs for captain Mauro Icardi, according to Premium Sport.

Icardi has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Juventus over the last week but the pay TV station reported on Thursday that nobody has made contact with the Nerazzurri yet, either to make an offer for the forward or to notify them of their intention to pay his €110 million release clause.

Despite this, they also report that there is a frosty atmosphere between the two parties at the moment, as there has been little progress made in talks to extend the 25 year-old’s contract.

Icardi has reportedly lowered his wage demands from €9 million per year to €8 million, but at the moment Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is only willing to offer €6.3 million plus add-ons.

Ausilio is also keen to adjust the player’s release clause, raising it from €110 million to €200 million, but relations are said to be slightly tense as things stand as Icardi is frustrated that nobody from the club has publicly declared their intention to keep him.

Walter Sabatini has praised Luciano Spalletti following Inter’s qualification for the Champions League and says the Nerazzurri’s dramatic final day victory over Lazio could represent a ‘turning point’ for the club.

Sabatini spent ten months working as a technical coordinator for Inter’s owners Suning Group before leaving his position in March, describing his experience with the Chinese company as ‘not exhilarating’.

Despite this, last week he offered his congratulations to everyone at the club for having secured a top four finish and on Wednesday he heaped more praise upon head coach Spalletti, describing the job he had done as ‘extraordinary’.

“I’ve seen Luciano Spalletti do great things,” he said at an event in Perugia. “I’ve seen him dominate a dressing room.

“In recent years whenever Inter have encountered problems they’ve collapsed, [so] managing to keep them focused on the objective this time around was extraordinary.

“Spalletti went to Rome with the aim of beating Lazio and he did so. At a certain point of the match Inter could have been annihilated, but instead they dug in. It could be the turning point for their future.”

Despite Eder’s big salary, he could still be a possibility for Bologna as per a report from Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The naturalised Italian striker is understood to have been offered to the Rossoblu as part of a deal that would see winger Simone Verdi head to Inter. Bologna are hopeful of raising between €20-22 million through the seemingly inevitable sale of Verdi and this money could go someway toward helping them afford Eder’s salary.

Eder found himself frozen out of the Inter starting eleven last season and was limited to just five starts while making 26 appearances from the bench.

Corriere dello Sport do however also report that Inter are behind Napoli in the race to sign Verdi. The Partenopei are ready to offer €23 million in order to acquire the 25-year-old, who is renowned for his ability to use both feet. Last season Verdi scored 10 goals and assisted a further 10 too in 35 games across all competitions.
