Spanish football’s three biggest clubs in Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are to fight it out over Inter defender Milan Skriniar according to a report from Spanish newspaper Sport.

Skriniar has far surpassed any expectations anyone had of him since arriving at Inter and has attracted the interest of three of the finest European sides as a result.

Barcelona are looking at Skriniar with a view to him replacing Gerard Pique in the long term. Real Madrid are meanwhile looking to him as a back-up option to Sergio Ramos and future partner of Raphael Varane while Atletico Madrid have maintained an interest in him since missing out to the Nerazzurri last summer.

Inter are understandably reluctant to sell the 23-year-old centre back, so much so that he is deemed completely unsellable by the Inter hierarchy as per reports circulating in the media. Skriniar himself has come out and reaffirmed his commitment to the club amid the reports which can only be a good sign.

Inter are among four Italian teams to be courting Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele according to British newspaper The Telegraph.

Inter are joined by Juventus, Milan and Napoli in being interested in the Belgian international midfielder who has just a year left on his current deal with the London club.

The Telegraph however add that he has interest from China too. Selling him to China is a far more attractive option for Spurs as they would then not be strengthening Inter, Juventus or Napoli, all of whom they could come up against in the Champions League next season. Spurs are also likely going to be able to raise more funds from a sale to China also.

Dembele, 30, is valued at £20 million (circa €22.8 million) by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and the player is understood to be seeking wages in excess of £100,000 (circa €115,000) from his next club.

Last season the former Fulham player made a total of 39 appearances but was unable to contribute any goals or assists.

Former Inter director Walter Sabatini has tipped the win over Lazio on the final day of the season which in turn qualified Inter for the Champions League to be the turning point for the Nerazzurri.

“Inter went to Rome needing to win and they did it. At some points of the game, Inter could have been annihilated by Lazio but instead they held their own. The win can be the turning point for the future for Inter,” he suggested to reporters at an event in Perugia.

Sabatini, who left his post in the past few months following an alleged dispute with owners Inter’s Chinese owners Suning, also spoke highly of Inter manager Luciano Spalletti.

“I saw Luciano Spalletti do great things at Inter, I saw him dominate the dressing room. In recent history, when Inter faced difficulties, they then sunk under the pressure. Keeping the team focused on their objective was something extraordinary.”

Matias Vecino could be a victim of Inter signing more midfielders this summer Corriere dello Sport have suggested today.

With Inter looking to land both Mousa Dembele and Nicolo Barella, there would then be two more names contending for just two midfield positions in Luciano Spalletti’s 4-2-3-1 system if they are to arrive. As a result, a sale of one of the current crop of midfielders most certainly can’t be ruled out.

The Rome based newspaper have suggested that Chelsea bound Maurizio Sarri could try and sign the Uruguayan who he worked with at Empoli. Corriere dello Sport recall Sarri’s failed attempt to sign the 26-year-old for Napoli and report that Inter could make a gain of about €10 million on him.

Vecino arrived at Inter from Fiorentina last summer and made a total of 31 appearances across all competitions and scored the all important winning goal against Lazio on the final day of the season which secured Inter Champions League football for next season.

Joao Mario will return to Inter following his loan spell with West Ham but his long term future will not be with the Nerazzurri, Gazzetta dello Sport detail.

Inter are looking to sell the Portuguese midfielder and would need €24 million from his sale to not record a loss on the books. Inter may struggle to find a buyer for the 25-year-old, who arrived in a €44 million deal back in 2016. As a result, Inter may opt to keep him around for the first six months of the season and hope that him playing in the Champions League could heighten interest. Moreover, if this is to happen, it will lower the money that Inter need from his sale to not record a loss and that may trigger interest from clubs.

Alternatively, Joao Mario could leave the club in a Geoffrey Kondogbia style deal wherein he is loaned out for a season with a redemption option attached. This would however heavily rely on Joao Mario performing on a regular basis and ultimately leave his loan club with no option but to take up the option.
