Today is the final day for Inter to take up their redemption option on Joao Cancelo and while the Nerazzurri are not expected to take up the option, it does not mean that Cancelo still couldn’t be playing for Inter again next season Tuttosport report.

Cancelo arrived on loan from Valencia with a €35 million redemption option attached but due to ongoing financial problems, Inter will not be able to exercise the option. Signing Cancelo would’ve further crippled Inter and forced them in to making a number of big sales that would ultimately rather be avoided. However as of July 1, it will be a new year for Inter and with thanks to Champions League qualification they will have a bigger budget and could then go after Cancelo again even if his price will be inflated on the back of his performances last season.

Inter have however prepared a shortlist of alternative players they can sign if they are unable to strike a deal for the Portuguese to return; Roma’s Alessandro Florenzi, Hoffenheim’s Pavel Kaderabek, Borussia Monchengladbach’s Nico Elvedi and Atletico Madrid’s Sime Vrsaljko.

Gazzetta dello Sport have taken a look at the pro’s and con’s to four of Inter’s targets for the wing, Memphis Depay, Domenico Berardi, Matteo Politano and Simone Verdi.

Depay – “He is primarily a left wing, but can also play as second striker. The weak side of Dutchman is his character however, which he has shown more on social media than on the playing field. What he did with Lyon this season has caught the eyes of everyone. Holland will not be at the World Cup so it could be an advantage in the sense that Inter can get him to Appiano Gentile immediately and make him available to Spalletti as soon as possible in order to quickly enter the Nerazzurri philosophy.”

Berardi – “Until a few weeks ago there would have been only some cons. His overall drop in performance, accompanied by physical problems, raised some doubts about him. However he showed his quality again in the final part of the season, scoring a wonderful goal against Inter.”

Politano – “Politano has passed his Sassuolo colleague Berardi in terms of consistency. He did so by scoring quality goals and as a result his value has grown. He was able to take a Sassuolo side in difficult on his shoulders and bring them to safety and this is something that Inter like about him. His biggest weakness is his inexperience.”

Verdi – “Verdi’s ability to use both feet to similar effect allows him to make himself available for either wing. There are no limits from this point of view. However, in Milan, unlike Bologna, he would not have a guaranteed place in the starting lineup. His ability to show his talent, to win the trust of Spalletti and play regularly at high level three times a week are all questionable.

Luciano Spalletti vuole un centrocampista fisico per la sua Inter in vista della prossima stagione. Ecco le ultime sulle strategie di mercato del club nerazzurro secondo quanto riportato dal “Giornale”

RIGENERATI – “Spalletti ha rigenerato Brozovic, che sarà inamovibile e Gagliardini. Vecino ha convinto, mentre Borja Valero rimarrà per dare il suo contributo in fatto di esperienza. Rafinha con ogni probabilità verrà riscattato ma per la linea mediana si lavora per vestire di nerazzurro Radja Nainggolan e Nicolò Barella“.

INGHILTERRA – “Non solo, però, perché l’Inter sta lavorando per portare a Milano Mousa Dembélé, centrocampista belga in forza al Tottenham. Il suo contratto scadrà il 30 giugno del 2019 ma gli Spurs vogliono 31 milioni di euro: difficilmente si tratterà a queste cifre con i dirigenti nerazzurri che proveranno a trattare per limare le richiesta degli inglesi”.

If Chelsea are to sign Mauro Icardi, Inter will make a move for Roma forward Edin Dzeko to replace him according to Corriere dello Sport.

Chelsea are firstly focusing on the renewals of star players Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois but once both of the renewals are out of the way, they will look to start signing players. Icardi has a €110 million release clause in his current contract and Chelsea would be prepared to pay it once raising the funds through the sales of striking duo Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi.

Should Icardi then depart the Nerazzurri for the Blues, Inter will turn their attention to Dzeko. Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has worked with the Bosnian before and knows how to get the best out of him and he is a far more achievable signing than the likes of Rodrigo or Andrea Belotti. Corriere dello Sport understand that Inter would be able to land the 32-year-old for between €35-40 million.

Dopo Simone Verdi il Napoli è tornato su un altro dei giocatori trattati nelle scorse sessioni, ovvero Lucas Torreira con il sito di Gianluca Di Marzio che parla di un incontro in corso tra Cristiano Giuntoli e la Sampdoria.

OBIETTIVI COMUNI – Torreira ha una clausola da 25 milioni di euro in scadenza il prossimo 30 giugno ma il Napoli sarebbe disposto versare nelle casse della Sampdoria una cifra superiore in cambio di un pagamento dilazionato. La trattativa tra i due club sembrava essersi arenata un mese fa ma la sempre più probabile cessione di Jorginho al Manchester City avrebbe portato il club di Aurelio De Laurentiis a tornare sull’uruguayano. Anche l’Inter segue da tempo sia lui che Verdi ma rischia di essere tagliata fuori essendo al momento concentrata sopratutto sulle cessioni da mettere a segno entro la fine del prossimo mese per sistemare l’attuale bilancio.

Fabrizio Romano parla di un forte interesse nei confronti di Milan Skriniar da parte del Barcellona, pronto a presentare un’offerta che però l’Inter è intenzionata a rifiutare vista l’intenzione di tenere sia lui che Joao Miranda.

DOPPIA CONFERMA – Durante la stagione appena conclusa il Barcellona ha inviato in più occasioni i suoi osservatori in Italia per monitorare da vicino le prestazioni di Skriniar, promosso a pieni voti al punto che il direttore sportivo Robert Fernandez, sotto consiglio di Ernesto Valverde, starebbe per presentare un’offerta. L’Inter però considera Skriniar incedibile e il difensore stesso avrebbe dato la sua disponibilità a rimanere in nerazzurro per almeno un altro anno, motivo per il quale la sua cessione non avverrà a meno di proposte impossibili da rifiutare. Discorso simile anche per quanto riguarda Miranda con Piero Ausilio e Giovanni Gardini volati a Londra non solo per trattare Mousa Dembélé ma anche per incontrare il brasiliano (in ritiro con la nazionale) e discutere di un possibile prolungamento fino al 2020.

Inter want to keep a hold of Mauro Icardi amid alleged interest from rivals Juventus in his services as per a report from Tuttosport.

Transfer market rumours have suggested Juventus are prepared to offer Gonzalo Higuain and €50 million in exchange for Icardi but the Nerazzurri have distanced themselves from these rumours and are not even taking such an idea in to consideration.

Icardi has a €110 million foreign release clause and if someone is to come in and pay it, Inter will have a lot of money to spend on a replacement but are unlikely going to be able to find a striker capable of replicating Icardi’s feats in an Inter shirt within their price range who will not demand an enormous salary.

Inter in fact want to give Icardi a new contract and are in talks with his wife and agent Wanda Nara over a new and improved deal that would definitely see his release clause significantly increased.
