Italian Media Details How Inter, Juventus & Real Madrid Target Midfielder Paul Pogba Could Cost Up To €220M To Sign From Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could cost clubs in excess of €200 million to sign in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report explains that when Manchester United’s demands plus the World Cup winning’s Frenchman’s wages are added on top clubs will have to pay around €220 million to land him – an exorbitant figure, especially during these troubling times, even for the big clubs.

The 27-year-old has drawn links to Inter, Juventus and Real Madrid in the media as of late and the report goes on to explain that Pogba’s salary is a big obstacle for Inter getting a move done.

Inter are in the process of gradually growing their wage bill and are therefore unable to exceed the current highest salary paid to players of €7.5 million, which both Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen receieve.

Pogba has barely played this season as a result of a serious injury with him having made just eight appearances across all competitions, in which he has tallied two assists.

Inter, Lazio & Leicester Among A Host Of Clubs Interested In Olympiacos Fullback Kostas Tsimikas

Inter are facing competition from Lazio, Napoli and Torino for Greek full back Kostas Tsimikas, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.it yesterday.

The report details how Lazio are the keenest out of the Italian clubs to sign the 23-year-old Greek full back, who is contracted to Olympiacos until 2022. The Biancocelesti think he would be the perfect future replacement for the aging Senad Lulic.

Other clubs across Europe are interested in Tsimikas, the report continues, including Galatasaray, Lokomotiv Moscow and Leicester. The Nerazzurri are also following the 23-year-old as they are looking to strengthen their wing back department for the upcoming season, with coach Antonio Conte considering many different options and types of players.

Tsimikas has made 37 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3287 minutes. In that time, he has provided seven assists and helped the Greek side keep 19 clean sheets, being one of the most important players in the squad.

Inter & Fiorentina To Meet To Discuss The Futures Of Dalbert & Biraghi

Inter will meet with Fiorentina to discuss many market objectives, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Florence based newspaper Corriere Fiorentino.

The report details how both clubs are interested in signing Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla, with the Nerazzurri currently in the lead in the race to sign the Albanian teenager. Fiorentina are also interested in signing Roma captain Alessandro Florenzi, who is currently out on loan with Spanish side Valencia.

This means that the Florence based club aren’t planning to permanently sign Inter owned full back Dalbert, the report continues, as the player hasn’t fully convinced in the Tuscan capital.

Italian full back Cristiano Biraghi will also be discussed, as the Nerazzurri aren’t too keen to make his stay in Milan permanent, especially with coach Antonio Conte looking for stronger options in that department. Inter are also interested in two of Fiorentina’s stars, Federico Chiesa and Gaetano Castrovilli.

Inter Midfielder Borja Valero: “It’s Better For Barcelona Target Lautaro Martinez To Stay With Us”

Inter midfielder Borja Valero spoke about the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the situation regarding Italian football and how the virus has personally affected his life in an interview with Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it yesterday.

“In recent weeks the order and level of importance I give to things has changed. And I think that will be the case for many people. I put the people I love first.

“It’s precisely in these moments, when I can’t be as close to them as I would like, that I realize even more how important they are to me. That’s why I’ll try to put them first, even afterwards, when things are back to normal, and it would be easy and instinctive to return to life, and to thoughts and distractions, of before.”

He revealed how having a routine is important for him.

“Not just my wife and children. During the day I try to maintain a routine, I get up early, I have two children who continue to go to school, albeit online, and I help them in their homework. Otherwise, I train as much as I can, strength training and exercise bikes.”

The 35-year-old Spanish midfielder, whose contract expires with the Nerazzurri at the end of the season, then touched on the current situation Italian football is facing.

“The situation is very delicate, we are facing a worldwide health crisis. We players are subject to the risk of contagion like everyone else, we could and should have stopped earlier. It would only make sense to start again when the situation was completely under control.

“The idea that football is so important does not justify the fact that it has to start again without adequate guarantees. We must comply with the indications given by the medical and scientific authorities. Not to do so would be madness.”

Valero spoke about how the Inter squad are still in contact with each other and stand united together.

“We Inter players have our own group chat, but for the moment everything still seems far away and unclear. It is clear, however, that if and when we are told to start again, as a group we will make our voices heard.”

The 35-year-old discussed Inter coach Antonio Conte and his relationship with him.

“His strength is to ask a lot not only of the players but of everyone, up to the warehousemen and the guys in the press office. And what he asks, he offers in return. He spoke to me at the start of the season. He was clear, I’m not relying on you, he told me.”

The Inter midfielder touched on how his professionalism helped him early playing time under the former Chelsea and Juventus boss.

“Then he saw how I train, with my head down and without questioning anything. He called me again and told me I’d have my playing time. That’s how it was. At my age and for what I’ve shown in my career, I don’t have to prove anything to anyone anymore. Nor do I think that at the end of the season my contract will expire. I work and make myself available.”

Valero spoke about the most recent Derby d’Italia, the last game before the stop for the Nerazzurri.

“It was a strange game, played in strange conditions, behind closed doors. What’s more, we weren’t at our best. I don’t think about it too much.”

He touched on teammates Christian Eriksen and Marcelo Brozovic.

“He arrived during the season, one week earlier he was still playing for Tottenham, the next week he had changed league, country, language, training system. It’s not easy to get used to things quickly. When he was getting into it, the stop sign appeared.

“He has everything to give Inter, he just needs time. Marcelo, in three years at Inter, has grown exponentially. Slowly he realized how strong he is and took on a new role for him, that of a regista. He can grow further.”

The Spaniard spoke about another teammate, Lautaro Martinez, who is the top transfer target of Spanish giants Barcelona.

“From one year to the next he has improved the most. As well as scoring, he does an extraordinary job for the team. What would I say to convince him not to go to Barcelona? That we have a very important project here, visible to everyone. And that, to make it happen, it’s better that he’s with us.”

Finally, Valero spoke about Inter talent Sebastiano Esposito, who has broken into the first team under coach Antonio Conte after impressing the Lecce born boss during last summer’s pre-season training camp.

“To grow up, youngsters must play as much as possible. The Inter system is fundamental for him. Having said that, it is right that he should decide his future with his family.”

Inter captain Samir Handanovic promoted an Italian charity focused on helping deaf and blind people in a post on his Instagram page yesterday.

The 35-year-old Slovenian shot stopper, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2021, has been a core part of coach Antonio Conte’s squad so far this season, only missing six games due to a hairline fracture in his left little finger. He will be the main goalkeeper for Inter next season as well.

Handanovic posted a video alongside the caption: “Today we are forced to avoid contact. Those who cannot see or hear cannot communicate and are experiencing a situation of isolation in isolation. Together we can make a small gesture and reach out to deaf and blind people. Let us help them to go beyond darkness and silence and build, from a distance.”

Italian Sporting Minister Spadafora: “No Training In Groups Before May 18 & Now Is Not Time To Talk About Serie A Resuming”

Italian Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora discussed the resumption of training and how squad training won’t be allowed before the 18th May in a post on his Facebook page earlier today.

The Italian government has given teams the approval to return to their training centers from today and onward, although no squad training will be allowed before the 18th May, as the government doesn’t want to rush the return to normality in order to ensure the safety and health of all those working.

Spadafora wrote on Facebook: “I’ve read strange things but nothing has changed compared to what I have always said about football, training in groups will not resume before May 18 and now is not the time to start talking about restarting the league.

“Now I’m sorry but I’m going back to all the other sports and the sports centers (gyms, dance centres, swimming pools, etc.) which must reopen as soon as possible.”

Juventus Chief Football Officer Paratici On Inter Targets Pogba, Castrovilli, Tonali & Chiesa: “They’re All Great Players”

Juventus Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici discussed the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and the upcoming summer transfer window in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“There are many good players who can make the jump, for example Chiesa, Tonali, Castrovilli. At the moment the National team is offering a nice showcase to these players. Pogba? He’s a great footballer, but these players have fewer teams able to guarantee this kind of salary.”

He spoke about how it will be difficult for many teams to purchase players outright in the summer, instead suggesting that loans will become a lot more common and complicated.

“There will be exchanges, more creative formulas like long loans. If you can’t buy a house, for example, go rent. If you can’t buy a player from X million, try to ‘rent’ them for as long as possible. A formula that will be exploited in order to be able to take advantage of the players without too much money, by diluting the payments.”

The Juventus director also touched on whether football should consider adapting a transfer market like the NBA’s.

“My idea was just a consideration dictated by the fact that clubs will have more economic difficulties and so you need to have ideas. Studying the various football systems and not, I thought that the NBA could be something to take inspiration from. Obviously, however, it remains a difficult system to replicate.”

Paratici highlighted how Italian clubs should have a second team, in order to allow them to develop players internally.

“Fifteen years ago, this was already being discussed, a good practice that is present in almost all the other more advanced leagues in Europe. And they have had great results, even in terms of training players. When we were given this chance, only we signed up. It’s a project we believe in, it takes a lot of effort but it gives us a lot of satisfaction and we believe it’s the future. Players are sold when they reach 90-100 matches, in other leagues they reach this goal at 21, because they start playing at 17. There’s a hole after the Primavera that brings a player to play that number of games at 24. In this way we lose talent and we lose time. Let’s think about Morata, before he came to us he had already played with Real’s second team. Spinazzola was on loan for eight years before he came back to us because he couldn’t find playing time.”

He discussed the agreement reached between the squad and the management about taking a salary cut, due to the financial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“It was very easy to come to an agreement, first of all because we have champions who understood the times we are living in. Secondly, we have a club that is a guarantor and that the players trust.”

The Juventus director discussed the restart of the league.

“I can’t wait to start again, to see the players and the matches. Having said that, we have to respect the rules. We also need to think about the players who are at risk and who are the most concerned, we need to understand this and the institutions that take responsibility for important decisions, which are really very difficult to take.”

Paratici touched on free transfers, a practice Juventus are known for using.

“The free transfer is not an objective, it’s a possibility that presents itself on the market. We are open and we are trying to build the best possible team, we need to understand where we start from and what it needs.”

He spoke about other players involved in Juventus’ plans for the summer window.

“Higuain? When he left he was very concerned in general. He’s a very sensitive guy. We’re attached to him, he’s having an extraordinary season, so we hope he’ll continue with us for the rest of the year. As far as the Pjanic-Arthur exchange is concerned, we’re always talking between big clubs, but we’re not just talking about players or just exchanges, but also about how we can move forward. Now we’re in a moment of talking.”

Finally, Paratici spoke about the players who are being offered new contracts and the progress of the talks.

“With Buffon and Chiellini, we’re in the home stretch, with Dybala too we’re talking, now there’s been this situation which has interrupted the negotiations.”
