Barcelona Manager Setien On Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez: “He Is A Great Player & Barcelona Are Always Intere sted In Great Players”

Barcelona manager Quique Setien has confirmed that the club are indeed interested in signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team forward has been heavily linked with a switch to the Blaugrana for some time now with reports stating Barcelona want to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.

Inter have made their demands clear for the former Racing Club with report stating they have told Barcelona they want €90 million plus Arturo Vidal on a permanent basis and Antoine Griezmann on loan or his €111 million release clause paid in full.

“He’s an important player, a great player, and Barcelona are always interested in great players, of course,” Setien told Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, with the interview appearing in today’s print edition.

“But in these times without football, a different name comes out every day. There’s also been talk of Neymar. And I’m sure you’ll ask me about Fabian Ruiz.”

Setien proceeded to ask if Lionel Messi has done anything to help the club to sign Lautaro, who he plays alongside in the national team.

“You’ll have to ask him about that. All jokes aside, all good players can attract Barcelona’s interest, that is clear. It’s also true that, for many players, the fact of being able to play with Messi represents a huge incentive.”

Setien also ruled out the possibility of Messi departing the club in the coming months after reports emerged linking him to various clubs, including Inter.

“It won’t happen. Messi and Barcelona will always be together. That’s just the way it is. Leo has been at Barca for 20 years and no-one could justify a breakup.”

Nerazzurri Legend Altobelli: “Inter Need To Sign Top Players In Midfield & On The Wings To Raise Their Level”

In an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoCampo.it, legendary Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has shared his views on how Inter’s season has went so far, the first season under the stewardship of former Italian national team manager Antonio Conte.

Inter are currently sitting in third place in the league, nine points off table toppers Juventus with a game in hand, they are in the semi finals of the Coppa Italia and are also in the last 16 of the Europa League.

“It has been a positive season for Inter. This was year zero for the Nerazzurri. In the Summer many big players like Icardi, Perisic and Nainggolan left and up until the first defeat to Juventus they were at the top of the table. Conte was immediately good at understanding what the team needed and enhanced it,” he explained.

Altobelli was then asked what can Inter management do in the upcoming Summer transfer window in order to strengthen the team.

“Looking at the players Inter already have in their squad, the defence is the best in Italy and their midfield is full of quality players and they are well equipped up front with Lautaro, Lukaku, Sanchez and the young Esposito.

“To make a leap in quality, Inter need to bring in top players for the midfield and on the flanks.”

The now 55-year-old spent 11 years on Inter’s books between 1977 and 1988 and was absolutely prolific during his time with the Nerazzurri club.

He made a total of 465 appearances across all competitions for the club during which time he scored a total of 209 goals, with only Giuseppe Meazza having scored more goals for Inter than he has.

Maicon’s Ex-Agent Caliendo: “Today He’d Be Worth €100M, I Had €30M Deal With Real Madrid After Inter’s Treble In 2010”

Transfer market intermediary Antonio Caliendo has revealed that Maicon was all set to join Real Madrid after Inter’s historic treble winning season with Inter back in 2009/10.

In an interview with CalcioNews24.com, Caliendo, who oversaw the Brazilian’s transfer from AS Monaco to Inter in 2006, explained how much he thinks Maicon would cost teams to buy nowadays.

“Today, Maicon would cost teams around €100 million,” Caliendo remarked in the interview.

He then went on to discuss Maicon’s transfer to Real Madrid which looked to be all done but then collapsed.

“I had an agreement with Real Madrid for €30 million but Marco Branca behaved incorrectly. He first made me negotiate with Real Madrid and then told me that the president did not want to sell Maicon.

“In the end I found out that Massimo Moratti knew nothing about any of this. I do not know why the transfer was blocked because it also blocked Maicon’s career.”

Maicon spent six years with Inter and during that time he was one of the best full backs on the planet. In his time with the club, he made a total of 249 appearances across all competitions in which he scored 20 goals and provided 50 assists for his teammates. He also won 11 trophies during his time with the Nerazzurri.

Maicon left Inter for Manchester City and has also since played for Roma, Avai and most recently Criciuma, who he left at the end of last year.

Ex-Inter Defender Miranda: “Flamengo & Palmeiras Wanted Me But Inter Didn’t Want To Give Up On Me”

Former Inter centre back Miranda has revealed that during his time with the Nerazzurri two Brazilian clubs came in with offers to allow him to return to his homeland.

Miranda joined Inter in the Summer of 2015 in a circa €15 million deal from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and spent four years with the club.

This past Summer Inter and the veteran defender came to a mutual agreement for his contract to be cancelled and he then moved on to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning, who are owned by Inter’s current owners Suning.

During his four year stay on Inter’s books, the 58-time Brazilian international, made a total of 121 appearances across all competitions in which he scored a single goal, provided two assists for teammates and helped Inter keep many clean sheets.

In an interview with Brazilian news outlet Esporte Interativo, the 35-year-old explained how both Flamengo and Palmeiras came in for him and how nothing ever materialised with them.

“Flamengo are a great club with the largest support in Brazil. I was interested in their offer and I even spoke to some of their board members but it was not the right time for me to return home,” he began.

“I had a contract with Inter and it was difficult to negotiate with a Brazilian team. Palmeiras, especially their sporting director Alexandro Mattos, contacted me but after that there were no major developments. Inter did not want to give up on me.”
