Inter Legend Bergomi: “Icardi Better Suited Tactically To Lukaku Than Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that Mauro Icardi would be better suited alongside Romelu Lukaku at Inter than he would be with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

Icardi is currently out on loan at reigning French champions Paris Saint Germain and they have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million.

If they do not take up the option, he will return to Inter and it has been widely reported that Juventus would be willing to enter into negotiations with their arch rivals for the 27-year-old as they look to bolster their attacking department.

“This year Ronaldo has scored 21, Dybala five and Higuain seven. Ronaldo needs the box but Icardi would not leave it to him,” Bergomi, who spent his entire career with Inter, remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

“Juve almost always plays the same. Tactically speaking, Icardi would be more compatible with Lukaku than with Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Whilst in the French capital, Icardi has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 20 goals and provided five assists for his teammates.

Lazio President Lotito: “Unfair If Inter & Atalanta Were Involved In Playoff For Serie A Title”

Lazio president and owner Claudio Lotito has shared his belief that Inter and Atalanta should not be part of a potential playoff for the Serie A title if things go down that route.

As uncertainty regarding the resumption and conclusion of the 2019/20 season resumes, the idea of the season being decided by a series of playoffs would appear to be growing, especially after European football’s governing body UEFA gave federations the green light to finish their leagues in such a way.

It has now been almost two months since the last ball was kicked in Serie A due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and reports have even emerged suggesting there are clubs who have zero intention of returning to the field and wish to see the remainder of the season cancelled.

“We are just a point away from Juventus. It would be unfair if a team like Inter, who have eight points less than us or Atalanta who have 14 points less, were involved but I would accept a playoff between ourselves and Juventus,” Lotito explained in an interview with Rome based newspaper La Repubblica, which appeared in today’s print edition of the newspaper.

Inter Defender Diego Godin: “I Started Playing As An Attacking Midfielder”

Inter defender Diego Godin has revealed that up until his mid-teens he was more of an attacking player rather than a defender.

Godin has played his entire senior career as a centre back but things could have certainly panned out differently for him had he not changed positions when he was 16-years-old.

“As a child, from five to 16-years-old, I always played from midfield onward. My great idol as a child was Enzo Francescoli, as was the case for the vast majority of the boys in Uruguay at the time,” he revealed in an interview with sports broadcaster Fox Sports aired earlier today.

“When I went to Cerro de Montevideo at 16, I started playing as an attacking midfielder, but one day I had to drop back into defence to replace a teammate.

“According to the coach I had excellent characteristics to play there as I had played in a more advance role. At the beginning I was not very convinced but the first team manager, Gerardo Pelusso, saw me and after a few months I found myself training with the first team.”

Godin joined Inter on a free transfer this past Summer on a three year deal after his contract with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid expired but has largely struggled in his first season in Nerazzurri.

As a result of his struggles, multiple reports have suggested that he could well leave the club with him having been linked to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Valencia among a few other sides.

This season Godin has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 1900 minutes on the field, he has provided a single assist.

Italian Media Reports Inter Working On Extending Antonio Candreva’s Contract

Inter are in the process of drafting up a contract extension for defender Antonio Candreva according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Italian national team player’s current deal with the club is due to expire at the end of next season and Inter management are in the process of coming up with a contract extension offer which would tie him down to the club until 2022.

Candreva currently earns €3 million net a year with Inter and he will earn more or less the same amount with the contract extension.

The former Lazio player has found his best form again this season under Antonio Conte and has transformed from a winger into a wing back with great success.

The 33-year-old has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date this season. In just over 1800 minutes on the park, he has scored four goals and he has also provided six assists for his teammates.

Manchester United & Tottenham Hotspur Keen On Signing Inter Defender Diego Godin

Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both keen on signing Inter defender Diego Godin in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The highly experienced Uruguayan national team defender is not even as much as a year into a three year deal with Inter but reports in recent weeks have suggested that he could move on at the end of the season.

The former Atletico Madrid captain has struggled to adapt to Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system and prior to football coming to a halt due to Coronavirus he lost his place in the team to youngster Alessandro Bastoni.

Reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that Inter are already preparing themselves for Godin’s departure and have identified a number of players they could bring in to replace him.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen and Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla have been the strongest linked whilst Torino’s Armando Izzo has also been linked among others.

Lazio Slap €100M Price Tag On Inter & Juventus Target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

It will take an offer of at least €100 million for Lazio to even contemplate allowing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to leave the club according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The highly rated Spanish born Serbian national team midfielder has long drawn links to both Inter and Juventus but the report warns that Lazio president and owner Claudio Lotito does not wish to sell the 25-year-old to a direct competitor for the Serie A title.

Lazio wish to keep a hold of Milinkovic-Savic especially for the Champions League and do not wish to sell him, especially to Juventus, the report goes on.

The former KRC Genk player, who joined the Italian capital city club back in the Summer of 2015 and has a contract with them until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

In just over 2500 minutes on the park, he has scored five goals and has provided seven assists for his teammates.

Inter & Juventus To Battle It Out Over Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri

Inter and Juventus are set to battle it out for Chelsea and Italian national team defender Emerson Palmieri according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

With Kwadwo Asamoah, Cristiano Biraghi and Victor Moses’ respective futures at Inter in doubt, Inter have identified Emerson as a player they could go in for to bolster the full back deparment.

Inter however face competition from their arch rivals for his signature and as per the report from the Turin based newspaper Juventus’ sporting director Fabio Paratici is willing to offer Adrien Rabiot to Chelsea as part of a deal for former Roma and Palermo man Emerson.

The inclusion of Rabiot in a deal could help negotiations between Juventus and Chelsea progress quickly with it understood that Chelsea are keen on the Frenchman who has struggled to cement a place in the Bianconeri team since his arrival on a free transfer.

Inter Stand To Earn Over €200M In Transfer Fees This Summer

Inter could get around €140 million if players currently out on loan are purchased outright by their loan club’s according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Inter are guaranteed at the very least €8 million due to the fact Yann Karamoh is at Parma in a loan with obligation to buy deal.

The Nerazzurri club could then get a whopping €70 million if Paris Saint Germain are to take up their option to buy Mauro Icardi and Inter could get even more if PSG are to sell the Argentine to another Italian club with report stating Inter would get between €10-15 million.

Inter could also get €23.5 million from Newcastle United for Valentino Lazaro, €18 million from Lokomotiv Moscow for Joao Mario and €15 million from Ivan Perisic.

It is highly unlikely that Radja Nainggolan will stay at Cagliari and he will therefore return to Inter but he will be sold which will add further cash to Inter’s transfer kitty.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to add that Inter could exceed €200 million in player sales too if Lautaro Martinez is to depart the club.
