Ognuno a modo proprio. Viva l’Italia! 🇮🇹 #25aprile #FestadellaLiberazione #italia #andratuttobene @allegra.luna

Serie A Doctors Publish Statement Defending Their Criticisms Of FIGC Safety Protocols

Serie A doctors have defended their decision to provide feedback to the FIGC in regard to their Coronavirus safety protocols in a statement made to Italian news outlet ANSA earlier today.

The statement details how the doctors received the organizational and screening protocols proposed by the FIGC Medical Scientific Commission earlier this week, and quickly provided all their thoughts and observations to Lega Serie A and the FIGC, in order to protect the safety of all the player and the staff.

The Serie A doctors also clarified that they are not against the idea of finishing the season, the report continues, and instead want to ensure the safety of all those involved. Some of the doctors feel that a May return may be too early.

A return to training has been anticipated on the 4th of May, due to the statements made by the Italian government. However, some have pointed out that football players are some of the people most at risk from the virus.

Nerazzurri Legend Alessandro Altobelli: “I Was The Best Athlete In The Squad During My Time At Inter”

Former Inter forward Alessandro Altobelli discussed the Nerazzurri and his time with the club in an interview on ‘Deejay Football Club’, hosted by Italian radio broadcaster Radio Deejay.

First, he discussed his nickname, Spillo, which means ‘pin’.

“I used to be Spillo, now I’ve put on a few grams! But with my friends I’m still Spillo.”

He then spoke about his decision to move to Qatar.

“I started working with BeIN Sports in Milan in 2006, they got the rights for the World Cup and asked me if I wanted to move. I said yes, since I’m a bit of a traveler.”

Altobelli touched on his appearance in the Inter of Records game and his physical condition.

“These are stories from Uncle Bergomi. Physically nobody beat me, from 20 meters to 5000 meters, I was a good athlete, the best in that Inter. I wasn’t struggling, I’m used to climbing mountains, I’m from Sonnino in the province of Latina.”

The 64-year-old Italian discussed the goal scored by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in Inter’s clash against Rangers, which was disallowed. Altobelli provided the assist for that goal.

“Kalle did everything, a fantastic thing I’ve never seen anyone do. He ran 2,000 yards, collapsed with snow coming on him. I got angry because the referee was a German, good thing he didn’t send me off. I thought he’d go to Rummenigge and shake his hand. It was a great play in front of a small referee. He was a great player. He was always one of the best. I speak to him every day, we are on very good terms.”

He spoke about which current forward is his favourite in Italy.

“Immobile is a great striker, but he only plays inside the penalty area. I like the ones that are found all over the pitch more, let’s say that Ronaldo has this characteristic. There’s no-one that drives me crazy.”

Finally, Altobelli discussed which forwards are his favourite throughout history.

“Pruzzo, Bettega, Pulici, Graziani. These are my favourites.”

Altobelli spent 11 years of his career with the Nerazzurri, being a core part of the squad. He made 465 appearances across all competitions in that time, scoring 209 goals and providing only one assist, contributing to a goal every 194 minutes.

Lega Calcio Must Submit End Of Season Plan To UEFA By May 25th

UEFA have communicated to all 55 European football federations that they have a deadline to decide a plan for the resumption of the season, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

The report details how UEFA have set a May 25th deadline, meaning that all federations, including the FIGC, have to create an action plan for a restart of the season. Details that must be included are the resumption date and the format in which the leagues will be finished, with federations being given flexibility in this regard.

This deadline is only one month away, the report continues, forcing all federations to work hard to create a solid plan. Some federations have already taken action, with the Belgian and Dutch leagues both being called off completely. Many Eredivisie clubs are unhappy with the Dutch football federations decision.

The FIGC are hoping that clubs will be able to return to training on May 4th, allowing the season to restart at the end of the month.
