Ruben Sosa: “Barcelona Transfer Target Lautaro Martinez Should Stay At Inter & Win Something First”

Former Inter attacker Ruben Sosa has called for Lautaro Martinez to resist the temptation to move on and stay with Inter and win trophies with the Nerazzurri.

The highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker has been heavily linked with a potential Summer transfer window switch to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona see him as one of their top transfer targets and as the ideal long term replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez, who will turn 34-years-old in the coming months.

“I think he should stay at Inter, he is a champion and when you play for the great Italian teams you have to win something. Before leaving you have to make a mark,” Sosa explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Musica Television earlier on today.

Sosa, who joined Inter in 1992 from fellow Serie A side Lazio, then reflected on the three years he spent with the club prior to joining German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

“I arrived under Ernesto Pellegrini and I left in Massimo Moratti’s first year. I spent three beautiful years with the Nerazzurri.

“I had the opportunity to move to both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, the Germans were a very strong team and they wanted me despite my physical condition not being optimal. It was a positive year, we won the league and I also scored several goals.”

The former Uruguayan national team player then spoke on comparisons that have been made between him and other former Inter striker Diego Milito.

“Diego was a real striker, he scored in any way, but I was faster and better at shooting from distance. We are similar. He won the Champions League, I won the UEFA Cup.

“Leaving the Nerazzurri with a European title was the best feeling for me, given that the players are remembered for the trophies won and not only for the goals scored.”

Lega Serie A Seeking Clarification From Italian Government & FIGC On Several Issues Relating To Resumption Of The Season

Lega Serie A are still awaiting clarification on a number of issues relating to the resumption of the 2019/20 season from both the Italian government and the Italian football federation (FIGC) according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Lega Serie A council voted unanimously in favour of resuming the campaign a few days ago and all 20 Serie A clubs also voted unanimously in favour yesterday.

Lega Serie A wish to find out what will happen if another player is to test positive, will it mean the whole team must go into quarantine and then if so what would happen to the season.

They also wish to know what will happen if lockdown measures are extended in parts of the country and what security measures will be implemented during travelling between cities.

Another of the big concerns that remains relates to the issue of contracts and loan deals which are due to expire on June 30. World football’s governing body FIFA have expressed a desire to see any agreements extended until the season is over and Lega Serie A are seeking clarity from FIGC on the matter.

Moreover, they wish to get clarity on the issue of player salaries with the salaries of players likely to be cut in some way to help the clubs mitigate the financial damage caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Roma Deny Media Reports Linking Edin Dzeko With Transfer To Inter: “Extremely Satisfied With Dzeko”

Roma have moved to deny rumours circulating in the Italian media that they are looking to move striker and club captain Edin Dzeko on due to his big wages.

A report emerged earlier on today which suggested they are considering shifting the Bosnia and Herzegovina international due to his big pay packet but a Roma source has told Italian news agency ANSA that they are currently happy with Dzeko and are not considering his future in the Italian capital.

“AS Roma is extremely satisfied with how Edin is playing the role of captain, even more in such a delicate moment.

“There is no strategy in place to change his future, which is in Rome, nor has the club thought of reviewing its agreements with the player.”

In the report that was released today it was suggested that Inter could go in for him if they are unable to complete a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and given Roma’s stance on the matter, it remains to be seen what it will mean for Inter’s alleged interest.

The 34-year-old has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists for his teammates.

Italian Sports Minister Spadafora: “A Great Will To Resume Serie A But Our First Objective Is The Health Of Our Citizens”

Vincenzo Spadafora, the Italian government minister for sport and youth policies, has hit out at the media for their extensive coverage of the lack of Serie A football amid the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

Serie A has been on hold for over a month now due to the pandemic and almost every day media outlets across the country are speculating about the possible resumption of the campaign. Football at every other level is also on hold and all other sporting activities in the country are too.

“The media are focusing on football, on whether the season resumes or not, but sport isn’t just football and football doesn’t only correspond to Serie A,” he explained to gathered reporters outside of the Italian senate earlier on today.

“After this emergency we’ll have to reorganise this sector, to guarantee sports workers a bonus that allows them to be treated on par with many others. We need to start again, given the huge economic and social value of sport.”

Spadafora then went on to insist that whilst they want to restart seasons, health is the main priority during these extraordinary circumstances.

“There’s great desire on our part to restart, but the first objective is to guarantee protection of the health of our citizens.”

Spadafora, who has been in office since 2018, then went on to discuss the possible resumption of training at the beginning of next month with a view to matches resuming in the weeks after that.

“After that, it’s our intention to study a programme that allows teams to start training again from May 4 and then we can think about resuming the leagues, while always prioritising the health of the professionals.”

Italian Report Claims Inter Close To Signing Juventus Target Sandro Tonali

Inter are close to signing highly promising Brescia and Italian national team midfielder Sandro Tonali according to a report from Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset.

Inter are in ongoing contact with the 19-year-old sensation’s agent over a move to the club whilst they try and also find an agreement with Brescia, who, as per other reports, want in the region of €50 million for him.

The Nerazzurri are currently ahead of arch rivals Juventus in the race to sign Tonali and this is also the case when it comes to Napoli’s Dries Mertens.

Belgian national team attacker Mertens’ contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of this season and Juventus made an offer to him via manager Maurizio Sarri but he is Inter bound and will come in to replace Alexis Sanchez, who will leave Inter and return to Manchester United at the end of his season long loan deal.

Italian Media Claims Juventus Cool Interest In Inter Owned Mauro Icardi Due To His Wage Demands

Reigning Italian champions Juventus have cooled their interest in signing Inter owned Mauro Icardi in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The 27-year-old Argentine striker is currently out on loan at French side Paris Saint Germain from Inter and the reigning French champions have an option to sign him on a permanent basis for €70 million.

Icardi could earn as much as €10 million a year if PSG end up buying him which would be out of reach for the Bianconeri, who have showed an interest in him for some time now.

As a result of this, the report goes on to state that Juventus are now beginning to consider Napoli’s Arek Milik as more of an option to bolster their attacking department.

The Polish national team striker’s current contract with Napoli is due to expire at the end of next season and would be able to be acquired for far less than Icardi.

Eintracht Frankfurt Director Of Football Bobic On Inter Linked Kostic: “I Can’t Say He Won’t Move But We’d Be Happy If He Stayed”

Eintracht Frankfurt director of football Fredi Bobic has admitted he would be happy if Filip Kostic is to remain with the club amid continued speculation surrounding his future.

The Serbian national team player has drawn links to several clubs in recent weeks and months following another top season for the Eagles with Inter among the clubs to have been linked with making a potential Summer transfer window swoop for him.

In an interview with German magazine Kicker, Bobic has refused to rule out the possibility that the former Stuttgart player could end up leaving the club but admits there is a lot of uncertainty given the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic, which has caused significant financial damage to football.

“I can’t say that he won’t move because I don’t know how the situation will develop in other countries. Good players will always have a market even in difficult times, and Filip is an exceptional player. Age doesn’t matter so much either. You are good or you are not,” Bobic began the interview.

“We would all be happy if Filip stayed with us. However, nobody can predict what will happen in the transfer market and if the big clubs will have liquidity.

“Will the Champions League be played? How big is the loss of revenue for big clubs? Nobody can know. Therefore it makes no sense to talk about possible exits.”

This season 27-year-old Kostic has made 40 appearances across all competitions to date. In almost 3600 minutes on the field, he has scored 12 goals and has also provided a total of 15 assists for his teammates.

Inter Striker Lukaku Apologises To Inter & Is Spared Fine After Claims Made About Team Illness

Romelu Lukaku has apologised to Inter after claiming nearly the entire first team squad were ill around about the turn of the year according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

In an interview with Belgian television presenter Kat Kerkhofs, who is the wife of Inter transfer target Dries Mertens, last night, Lukaku claimed that 23 of 25 first team players were suffering from illness following a one week break period.

Inter have this morning come out and denied the claims and have spared Lukaku of a fine he would have otherwise been subjected to as per the terms of the club’s internal code of ethics, due to the fact he did apologise for his words.

The 26-year-old striker, who joined the club in a club record €65 million deal this past Summer from Manchester United, has made 35 appearances across all competitions to date this season in which he has scored 23 goals and provided five assists.
