Inter Vice President Zanetti: “I Think We’ll Have Lautaro Martinez With Us For A Long Time”

Inter vice president Javier Zanetti has shared his belief that Lautaro Martinez will be sticking around with Inter for the long term amid continued speculation surrounding a potential Summer transfer window switch to Spanish giants Barcelona.

“He is a very intelligent boy, he is taking full advantage of the opportunity to play in such an important league,” he began an interview with Argentine radio station Cadena 3 which took place earlier on today.

“When we saw him for the first time we imagined what he could become so. The fact he plays for Inter makes us proud and happy and I think we will have him with us for a long time.”

Zanetti proceeded to stress that thinking about potential player movement is not the main priority at the moment given what is going on across the world due to the ongoing global Coroanvirus pandemic.

“The last thing we are thinking about now is the transfer market. Today we think about health, which is the most important thing.

“When we go back to training with the hope that we can get back to playing, we will see what the future holds. We are focused on overcoming this moment because there are many families who are suffering.

“The situation is complicated. It will not be easy to return to play.”

Zanetti then went on to insist that the club’s current project requires time and sang the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte who has really raised the level at the club since he came in to replace Luciano Spalletti this past Summer.

“It is a project that requires time, a strategic plan and people with important human values. Conte is a manager with great ability and experience. He knows Italian football well and fits well in the project for the future. He has a style and identity that will allow us to be competitive and protagonists in our league.”

He concluded the interview by speaking on his current role as vice president of Inter, a role which he has held for close to six years now.

“I am very happy to be able to be useful to a club that has given me so much. Being vice president is a great responsibility. I am not only tied to the sports side of things. I also do a lot of things in the social and commercial fields. I learn something new every day.”

Inter Owned Icardi Wants To Return To Italy & Juventus Are Keen To Sign Him

Mauro Icardi has decided that he does not wish to remain with Paris Saint Germain past the end of this season according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The 27-year-old striker is currently out on loan at the reigning French champions from Inter and although PSG have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for €70 million, he has no interest in this happening as he wishes to return to Italy.

Juventus are very keen on signing him and have identified him as the ideal player to add to their ranks to bolster their attacking department.

The report does however warn that it will be impossible for Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici to do a deal with Inter over him given the two clubs are arch rivals and relations between him and former Juventus director and current Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta are far from great either.

However, the inclusion of a player(s), namely Juan Cuadrado, could make a deal possible between the clubs.

Inter & Juventus Both Interested In Chelsea Defender Emerson Palmieri

Arch rivals Inter and Juventus are set to battle it out for Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Inter are reportedly keen on bolstering their full back department in the coming months with several of the current crop seemingly on their way out of the club.

Juventus on the other hand have identified the Brazilian born Italian national team player as a player they could go in for in the event that Alex Sandro is to depart the club in the Summer.

Alex Sandro has been suggested in reports as a player that the Bianconeri club could use as a makeweight in a deal for Mauro Icardi, if Paris Saint Germain are to sign him up on a permanent basis from Inter.

This season Emerson has made 18 appearances across all competitions to date. In 1341 minutes on the field, the former Roma player has contributed a single assist.

Inter Could Go Back In For Roma’s Dzeko If They Fail To Land Chelsea’s Giroud

Inter could potentially go back in for Edin Dzeko with Roma set to look to move him on in order to balance the books according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri showed an extremely keen interest in landing Dzeko this past Summer but the Bosnia and Herzegovina international grew tired of waiting on Inter and proceeded to sign a new and improved deal with the Giallorossi.

He has a contract until 2022 with an annual salary of €7.5 million net, a figure which is too much of a burden to the Italian capital city club.

Dzeko does not want to leave Roma but he could change his mind about that if faced with a tempting offer from elsewhere.

Given his age and his salary it will not be easy for Roma to find a buyer but the report claims Inter could go back in for him if they are to miss out on Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

Inter Deny Romelu Lukaku’s Claim That 23 Of 25 Players Were Ill At The Start Of The Year

Inter have downplayed striker Romelu Lukaku’s claims that there was a time when all barring two players of the first team squad were ill according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Yesterday Lukaku sensationally claimed that 23 of 25 players came back ill with flu like symptoms after a one week break around the turn of the year but none of them were tested for Covid-19 at the time.

Lukaku claimed that Milan Skriniar had to come off in the first game back but that was not the case, the report goes on to recall as the match which the Slovak had to come off due to illness in came 20 days after the first game back.

Stefan de Vrij, Skriniar and Danilo D’Ambrosio all missed the match with Fiorentina due to having the flu and the only other flu related absence after that was young defender Alessandro Bastoni against Lazio in the middle of February.

The report goes on to state that Inter insist the picture that Lukaku painted did not happen and the training sessions completed around that time are proof of that as is the fact there was no contagion amongst other staff.

Keita Balde: “At Inter I Got Close With Many Players, The Milan Derby Is Glamorous”

In an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com, former Inter attacker Keita Balde has reflected on the relationship’s he formed with his Nerazzurri teammates.

“At Inter I got close with many players like Mauro Icardi, Roberto Gagliardini, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Matias Vecino, Borja Valero and Lautaro Martinez,” the Senegalese national team player, who is primarily a winger and more than capable of playing at striker too, explained in the interview which took place on social media platform Instagram last night.

He then spoke on what it was like to come up against Icardi earlier on this season when his current employers AS Monaco came up against Paris Saint Germain, where Icardi is currently out on loan.

“We had a nice game in Paris when our sides met, it finished 3-3. At the final whistle we swapped shirts and we talked a little and that’s it. He is a good boy and we recently messaged each other. His future? I don’t know, we didn’t talk about football.”

The 25-year-old also spoke on the differences between the Derby della Capitale between Roma and Lazio and the Derby della Madonnina between Inter and AC Milan.

“The Rome derby begins three weeks before the game both in the city and at training. As for the Milan derby, it’s chic, glamorous and classy.”

Keita, who has a contract with AS Monaco through to the end of the 2021/22 season, spent the duration of the 2018/19 season on loan at Inter. He scored five goals and provided two assists in 29 appearances for Inter.

Inter Legend Materazzi: “Jose Mourinho Is The Best Manager I Had, Inter’s Bastoni Is The New Me”

In an interview with Italian YouTube star Er Faina, legendary Inter defender Marco Materazzi has spoken on a range of Inter related topics and firstly spoke about former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“I don’t know why he has this grudge with me, but I have no problems with him. He is a great man and made history in football like Henry, Totti and Neymar. He is a phenomenon and I thank him for the titles. He went to Barca and whilst a certain Eto’o came to us…” Materazzi told Er Faina during an interview which took place via social media platform Instagram.

He then went on to speak about Rafa Benitez’s brief stint in charge of Inter and the best manager he ever worked with.

“Everyone knows about the relationship I had with Jose Mourinho, but with Rafa there was no time to have a relationship since he was gone in six months. The best manager I had? Mourinho but I could say Lippi, Mancini or Mazzone. Everyone taught me something.”

Next he spoke on whether it was better to win the World Cup with Italy in 2006 or win the Champions League with Inter as part of a historic treble win in the 2009/10 season.

“It’s impossible to choose. I won the World Cup as a protagonist and won the Champions League with Inter and although I did not play much, I still felt like a protagonist.”

He then spoke on the player he thinks can be the next Materazzi: “For the future, I would say Alessandro Bastoni. As for now Francesco Acerbi for what he has done in recent years.”

He then sang the praises of former Inter teammate Julio Cruz: “He was tall, fast, technically gifted and he also scored goals. He massacred you. Then we were teammates and everyone saw what he was worth.”

Next Materazzi discussed Mario Balotelli and the relationship that he has with him.

“I really love him and he loves me too. An anecdote? I have a billion. In the first training session he tried to nutmeg me and Cordoba…I also recommended him to my father who coached Bari at the time. He didn’t want to go despite the great competition at Inter and in the end he was right to stay because he played. Mario was strong and still is.”

He concluded the interview by naming a team made up of the best players he played alongside during his playing career.

“That’s impossible to choose, I played with some of the best. I played with goalkeepers like Julio Cesar, Buffon, Toldo. Defenders like Samuel, Mihajlovic, Chivu, Cananvaro, Nesta and then midfielders and attackers like Totti, Stankovic, Cambiasso, Veron, Maxwell, Recoba, Veiri, Ronaldo, Eto’o, Ibra and Milito.”

Current Top Four In Serie A Could Be Entered Into Champions League If Season Is Cancelled Or UEFA Rankings Could Be Used To Determine Participants

The assignment of the Serie A title and European places for Italian clubs could be greatly impacted if the 2019/20 season does not finish according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

In the event that the season does not resume due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic, the title would not be awarded and there are several clubs in agreement about this, even including Juventus, who are currently sitting top of the Serie A table.

If this season is cancelled it would also remain to be seen what would happen with regard to European qualification.

The current top four of Juventus, Lazio, Inter and Atalanta could be entered but the report from the Rome based newspaper warns that clubs could be entered into the Champions League based on their UEFA club ranking thus meaning Juventus, Roma, Napoli and Lazio would make it in and both Inter and Atalanta would be forced to miss out.
