Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez’s Agent: “Everything I’ve Read In The Newspapers Isn’t True”

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s agent, Beto Yaque, discussed the market rumours surrounding the player and his future in an interview with Italian media outlet Cittaceleste earlier today.

“Of everything that the newspapers are writing and that I read earlier, there is really nothing true. This is the only truth.”

The future of the 22-year-old Argentine striker is unclear, with many clubs interested in acquiring the Nerazzurri star. The player has a €111 million release clause, but so far no club has approached Inter with a serious interest in activating it.

Barcelona are the club most keen on signing Lautaro, although they cannot reach the requested price. Instead, the Blaugrana are hoping that Inter will an accept an offer of €60 million in cash plus two players in exchange. The Catalan side believe that Lautaro would be the perfect replacement for the aging Luis Suarez, who is currently recovering from a serious injury.

Other clubs have also expressed an interest in Lautaro, including Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid, but many think that either the player will join Barcelona or will remain with Inter.

Italian Report Suggests Barcelona May Have To Sell Coutinho For €100 Million If They Want To Sign Inter’s Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona may have to sell former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho if they want to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, according to a report from today’s print edition of the Italian magazine SportWeek.

The report details how the Catalan club bought the Brazilian forward from Liverpool in January of 2018 for a huge sum of around €120 million plus €40 million in bonuses. The player’s time in Catalonia has not been positive and he has been considered a flop by many in the Iberian Peninsula. Coutinho is currently on loan with Bayern Munich, but the German giants are unlikely to purchase the player outright due to his high cost and wages.

The Blaugrana may have to sell the player for at least €100 million, the report continues, if they want to sign Lautaro Martinez. The club do not have the finances to match Inter’s €111 million requested price and have been working hard to find alternative options, like offering €60 million in cash as well as two players in exchange.

Milan City Councillor Maran: “Inter & AC Milan Must Stay At The San Siro, We Have Built All The Infrastructure”

Milan City Council’s Urban Planning Councillor Piefrancesco Maran discussed Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project live on Facebook yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet Affarialiani.it.

“We’re discussing things with the teams, they have not given any willingness to a re-functioning plan for the Meazza. They want to build a new stadium, but they have to stay at the San Siro because we have built all the infrastructure and because the Meazza will remain to be managed.”

Both Inter and AC Milan have been working together to try to find a viable new stadium project. Initial plans suggested that the existing San Siro may have to be demolished to make space for the new stadium, although this idea was quickly shot down by the Milan City Council.

Since then, discussions have been had regarding the future of the existing San Siro stadium, with one potential idea being to renovate the stadium and turn it into a public access sporting arena, giving the local population a modern place to exercise and practice multiple sports, not just football.

The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has slowed down talks, frustrating for the two Milanese clubs considering that talks have already been dragging on for months. The two possible final projects have been decided, and now the clubs must wait to discuss the projects further with the council.

Felipe Melo Responds To Chiellini: “He Is Angry Because Inter Won The Treble & I’m An Inter Fan”

Former Inter midfielder Felipe Melo responded to the comments made by Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini, who called the player the “worst of the worst”, in an interview with Italian media outlet Gazzetta.it earlier today.

“First of all, it would be interesting to know the episodes you’re referring to. In any case, there’s no problem for me to respond to ‘this defender’. When I was in Turin, I never disrespected anyone, my teammates, the managers, Juventus in general. At this point, however, I have none for him at all. And I never will.”

He commented on how Chiellini suggested that former Inter striker Mario Balotelli needed to be “slapped” in order to help the team.

“You said that Balotelli had to be slapped in the face and that I’m the worst of the worst and that you always were at risk of a fight because of me? Well, he was always crapping his pants… And then, sorry. Too easy to talk bad about others with a book.”

Melo suggested that he is an Inter fan and that Chiellini may be angry with him after results on the pitch went against the Italian defender.

“Maybe ‘this defender’ is still angry with me because, when I went to Galatasaray, we slapped them by eliminating them from the Champions League. Or because then Inter won everything. And I’m an Inter fan. That’s how he is, always doing phenomenal things.”

Finally, Melo spoke about the 2009 Confederations Cup, where Brazil beat Italy 3-0, and also drew attention to the fact that Chiellini has never won a trophy with the Azzurri.

“And another thing comes to mind, we beat Italy 3-0 in the 2009 Confederations Cup, which Brazil won. Well, maybe that’s why he’s joking about it. Also, on an international level, he hasn’t won anything at all.”

Melo spent five years of his career in Italy, first spending a season in Tuscany with Fiorentina before moving to Juventus in 2009. He spent two years in Turin with the Bianconeri, where he made 78 appearances across all competitions. He later returned to Italy to spend two years with the Nerazzurri.

Juventus Captain Giorgio Chiellini: “I Hate Inter In A Sporting Sense, Balotelli Is A Negative Person”

Juventus captain Giorgio Chiellini discussed his biography, former Inter forward Mario Balotelli and his hatred of Inter in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper la Repubblica.

“I didn’t want to speak ill of anyone, but I would have hidden a part of me. In the book I say that Balotelli is a negative person and doesn’t have respect for the squad, and I confirm that. In the Confederations Cup in Brazil in 2013 he didn’t give us a hand in anything, someone had to push him constantly.”

He also discussed former Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo, who spent two years in Turin.

“I was also very disappointed by Felipe Melo, the worst of the worst. We always risked having a fight with him, and I also told the Juve managers that he was a rotten apple. As far as I’m concerned, the problem is not whether you play well or badly, but if you have nothing positive inside. Once it may go well, but if this attitude is recurring then no.”

The 35-year-old Italian defender then spoke about his sporting hatred of Inter, although he confirmed that it was only a hatred on the pitch.

“In a sporting way I hate Inter, just like Michael Jordan hated the Pistons. Sporting hatred is the factor that makes us give that extra something to overcome the opponent. If you give it the right meaning it is an essential component of sport. Off the pitch, however, everything was different and one of the messages that gave me the most pleasure when I injured my knee was from Javier Zanetti.”

Finally, Chiellini discussed the potential restart of the Serie A season and how playing behind closed doors without fans could affect the players.

“I have no idea if the season will restart. When I think of three months of games without fans, I don’t feel like it. It will take a superhuman mental strength, but it’s our job and we’ll have to adapt, as we are doing in every area of our lives.”

Serie A teams have been given the go ahead to return to their training centres earlier this week, with squads being forced to split up and train individually. This will allow them to slowly regain fitness, whilst also ensuring the safety of all the staff and players. After a few weeks, a return to squad training is expected, ahead of a potential restart at the beginning of June.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta First To Arrive At Appiano Gentile As Players Return To Individual Training

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta was the first to enter Inter’s training ground in Appiano Gentile earlier today, with the player’s arriving early in the afternoon, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

The report details how the players, who are the first of three training groups, arrived after lunch this afternoon to follow yesterday’s individual training programmes. Coach Antonio Conte, who has not yet been tested for Coronavirus, resumed work in a different part of the training centre, but isn’t allowed contact with the squad until he has tested negative.

The Inter squad all tested negative for the contagion, the report continues, a huge relief considering that some teams have already discovered multiple positive cases in their squad. Many are hoping that the season will be able to be restarted at the start of June, with the remaining games of the season set to be played behind closed doors.

PSG Have Decided Not To Sign Inter’s Lautaro Martinez & Instead Focus On Mauro Icardi

Paris Saint Germain have decided to give up on the race to sign Inter star Lautaro Martinez, instead preferring to activate the buy option on Mauro Icardi, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

The report details how the Parisian club have realised that it would be impossible to beat Barcelona in the race to sign Lautaro, with the Catalan club working hard to create a deal that the Nerazzurri will find acceptable. The Spanish side are hoping to offer the Milanese club €60 million in cash as well as two players in exchange for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Instead, PSG are looking to sign Inter owned forward Icardi, the report continues. The 27-year-old, who has spent this season on loan in Ligue 1, can be purchased for €70 million, although the Parisian’s are hoping for a discount considering the current financial climate, which has been heavily impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Belgian Media Suggests Inter Linked Dries Mertens Won’t Decide His Future Until End Of The Season

Inter linked forward Dries Mertens will not make a decision about his future until the end of the season, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

The report details how the 33-year-old Belgian striker’s contract expires with Napoli at the end of this season, and currently a contract renewal doesn’t seem close, despite the meeting the player had with president Aurelio De Laurentiis at the start of March. He has restarted individual training with the club over the last few days, ahead of the proposed restart at the start of next month.

Mertens hasn’t decided where he wants to play next, the report continues, and so wants to stall until the end of the season, avoiding a rushed decision. Inter and Chelsea are the two clubs closest to the Belgian.

Mertens has made 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1787 minutes. In that time, he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists.

Inter Target Gaetano Castrovilli: “Barella Is A Ball Of Energy, Sensi Was Having An Incredible Season Before Injuries”

Inter target Gaetano Castrovilli discussed Nerazzurri midfielders Stefano Sensi and Nicolo Barella, as well as his future, in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

First, he spoke about Barella, who Castrovilli has played with the Italian national team and the youth teams.

“I remember when I played with him in the U16 squad. Barella is a ball of energy, he has physical qualities that are out of the ordinary. A power that combines with technical qualities. He is a modern interpreter of the role.”

The Fiorentina midfielder then spoke about Sensi, another Inter player who he has played with in the Azzurri set-up.

“His stature makes him very agile, in fact he’s good at getting away from players and tiring out those who mark him. He’s also got great vision and a great foot, which allows him to make precise shots and to be deadly in free kicks. He was having an incredible season and it’s a shame that he was held back by injuries.”

The 23-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the Viola until 2024, touched on Inter target Sandro Tonali, who has been impressing with Brescia this season.

“He’s destined for glory. We’ve been talking about him for a few years now even though he’s very young. He has a formidable vision of the game.”

Finally, the player spoke about how president Rocco Commisso has suggested that he would like Castrovilli to wear the number 10 shirt for Fiorentina.

“For me it would be fantastic. I know how important the number 10 jersey is for Fiorentina, and the champions who have worn it. From Antognoni to Baggio, from Rui Costa to Mutu. To be able to do what Antognoni did with the Fiorentina and National team jersey would be fantastic for me. I’m lucky enough to see him almost every day and listen to his advice. All this can only help me. I confess that when Montella compared me to Antognoni I didn’t believe it. Not even when I heard how he speaks.”

Castrovilli has made 26 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2203 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided two assists, being a core part of the Florence club’s midfield.
