Italian Media Rules Out Inter Sacking Antonio Conte But Claims He Could Resign To Return To Premier League

Inter have no plans to sack coach Antonio Conte but the 50-year-old Italian could resign at the end of the season to head to the Premier League, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how it would cost Inter around €150 million to dismiss head coach Antonio Conte and his staff and find a replacement this summer. The 50-year-old Italian has a three-year contract expiring in 2022, and he earns around €12 million a season. The club have no interest in dismissing the former Chelsea and Juventus boss and believe he is the perfect coach to win and grow their project.

Conte could decide to resign in the summer, the report continues, if he doesn’t find his necessary conditions to move forward. The 50-year-old Italian will not be able to sign as many players as he likes, and not all of them will be older players, with some set to be younger talents like Marash Kumbulla or Sandro Tonali.

Inter Decide To Issue Marcelo Brozovic With A Fine Following Drunk Driving Incident

Inter have decided to punish Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic after the player was caught driving drunk on Friday night, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia moments ago.

The report details how the 27-year-old Croatian midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until the end of June 2022, was pulled over for running a red light on Friday night in Milan.

The police then administered an alcohol test, which showed Brozovic’s blood alcohol level was slightly higher than the legal limit. This then led to the 2018 FIFA World Cup runner up had his license revoked as a result.

Inter were debating what to do, the report continues, but have firmly made up their minds since. The club will give Brozovic a large fine, as they want to apply the same treatment to everyone in the squad, to ensure all the players remain responsible and safe.

Brozovic has featured lightly since the restart of the season due to calf issues, although he is nearing fitness now.

Inter Coach Antonio Conte: “Moses Back, Vecino Injured, Sensi Recovering, Barella Back For Roma”

Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed tomorrow evening’s league clash with Torino, the condition of the squad and the team’s response after their 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona earlier this week in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV earlier today.

First, he discussed what he’s said to the squad since their draw against Verona in the mid-week game.

“It’s simple. I told the guys that I was satisfied with the performance against Verona, so this is the right way. We have to keep doing what we’re doing, trying to limit the mistakes a bit.

“In this last period, we are paying dearly for important individual mistakes and a small mistake creates a situation where we are punished. But for me the road is the right one, that of playing at a high pace, of pressing and bringing many men into the offensive phase.”

The former Chelsea and Juventus boss touched on what he expects from Torino tomorrow.

“In my opinion the quality of their squad is superior to their position in the league table. They certainly started with other objectives. There are good players, and physical ones. They’re a very good team that will come to San Siro to get points. But we want to win.”

He touched on how he has spoken with the squad about trying to score goals outside the penalty area. Lautaro Martinez’ last 16 goals have all been inside the penalty area.

“Yes, I trained them to stay out of the area to avoid these situations! Of course, I’m joking, but you have to be careful because there are quality players in the squad.”

Conte also spoke about how the last nine goals scored at the San Siro have been scored by nine different players.

“Certainly, this year at Inter it’s happening more frequently because we’ve increased the attacks into the opponent’s area with more players and therefore made the offensive moves more unpredictable.

“We’re on the right track and we’re doing good things, so then winning rather than drawing can change the feelings from negative to positive.”

He touched on whether he will change the team’s formation. Initially Inter lined up as a 3-5-2 this season, but Conte changed it to a 3-4-1-2 to better accommodate new arrival Christian Eriksen.

“We’ll make assessments because now it’s going to be a much more intense period compared to the last few games, as we’ll play tomorrow, then Thursday in Ferrara and then Sunday in Rome.

“We’ll have to be good at managing our energy and making assessments, but I’m calm because apart from injuries all the guys are giving excellent responses.”

Finally, Conte spoke about the physical conditions of Romelu Lukaku, Victor Moses and Nicolo Barella, as well as many other players.

“Romelu wasn’t very well yesterday, today he’s better and I hope I’ve already got him available. We know how important he is. It’s nothing to worry about but it’s right to make assessments and take zero risks because losing a player now means losing him until the end of the season. I hope the medical staff make the right assessments.

“Nicolò is improving, we hope to have him as soon as possible, perhaps for the game against Roma, although I hope we can have him before then.

“Sensi is recovering while Vecino is back to being unavailable. Victor, on the other hand, is doing well, he struggled, but he’s recovered. There too, we’ll work with the player and the medical staff to see if it’s appropriate to take risks or wait a few more days.”
