Italian Media Claim Barcelona Target Lautaro Martinez Could Lose Place In Inter Starting Line-Up

Inter manager Antonio Conte has told Lautaro Martinez he must find the back of the net again soon or he could lose his place in the starting line-up according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

After failing to score in this past weekend’s 1-1 draw away to Napoli, Lautaro has now went six games across all competitions without finding the back of the net.

It is not just goals that have dried up for the 22-year-old either with the report highlighting the fact that since his sending off against Cagliari, the number of shots taken, chances created and touches in the box have all decreased.

Lautaro is not guaranteed of his place in the starting line-up and Alexis Sanchez’s performance off the substitutes bench on Saturday has shown Inter that the Chilean could be very useful and he could perhaps take the place of Lautaro shortly.

Radja Nainggolan: “I’d Have Liked To Work With Conte, Inter Have The New Me In Barella”

In a chat with Italian Twitch streamer RiberaRibell, Inter owned midfielder Radja Nainggolan spoke on a range of topics, including many relating to Inter.

He began the interview by recalling what was his most recent game for Inter, last year’s season finale against Empoli, in which Inter secured qualification for the Champions League.

“It was satisfying because I scored the last goal of the season that got us into the Champions League,” he explained in the interview.

“I felt a bit sorry to relegate Empoli though because they played excellent football and deserved Serie A but we had to do what we had to. It was a game with a lot of emotions.”

He was then asked what sacrifices he had to make to become a professional footballer.

“I have given up little in my life. Everyone has their own way of life. I have not always lived as a professional, I know that but on Sunday the most important thing is to fight for the team and we must be judged on what we give to the team then in life one can be quite free.”

Nainggolan then went on to speak on the manager who has had the greatest impact on his playing career.

“I have had many managers but the one I owe most of all is Luciano Spalletti, he changed my career. Stefano Pioli was also important, he gave me my chance in Serie B but Spalletti completed me.”

Next the former Belgian national team player spoke on what it was like to work under Antonio Conte for a short time at Inter before he was shipped out on loan to Cagliari.

“I would have liked to work with Conte. In the month with him, I saw his determination, his personality and how he wanted the team to play. I saw a great manager.”

He was then asked who he thinks is the player most similar to him in football at the moment.

“Inter already have him. Nicolo Barella has my style of play. He is bad ass, he runs and runs and fights. He scores a few goals and gives assists. He is like me six years ago, he is a very important player for the rest of the team.”

Nainggolan joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 in a player plus cash deal from fellow Serie A side Roma. The 32-year-old has made 36 appearances across all competitions for Inter, in which he has scored seven goals and provided three assists.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric: “Past Links To Inter & AC Milan? I’d Done Well In Serie A”

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has shared his belief that he would have done well in Serie A had a move to either Inter or AC Milan come to fruition.

The Croatian national team player has been linked with both the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri clubs in the past and in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Modric discussed the links.

“Boban was an idol of my father and me. When I was little, my father bought me an AC Milan tracksuit. I imagined being an AC Milan footballer but things went differently and when you get to Real Madrid it’s difficult to think of going elsewhere,” he explained in the interview which appeared in today’s print edition.

“If things had not gone well in Madrid, I would certainly have done well in Serie A but honestly, the priority has always been Madrid for me.”

Next the former Tottenham Hotspur player spoke on relationships that he has with players currently plying their trade in Serie A.

“I have a WhatsApp group with my compatriots and I always talk with Brozovic, with Badelj and with Pasalic who is formidable and has finally found the right club.”

The 34-year-old has been with his current employers since the Summer of 2012 and he has one year left to run on his current contract with the club.

The 2018 Balon d’Or winner has made 334 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 22 goals and provided 52 assists for his teammates.

Inter Defender Diego Godin Set To Make Decision On Future Soon Amid Lyon Interest

Diego Godin will make a decision on his future in the coming months according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The Inter defender has struggled in his first season with the Nerazzurri club and this has led to suggestions in the media that he could leave the club.

Inter would be happy if he did leave due to the fact they would save €6 million net a year as they would no longer need to pay his wages.

Should he leave the club, Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla could be brought in or alternatively Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen or Nice’s Malang Sarr could arrive.

Lyon have shown an interest in signing Godin and have increased that interest in recent days. There has been contact made with his representatives but his salary is an issue for the Ligue 1 outfit.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to add that at the moment there is no certainty with regard to Godin’s personal desire.

Man Utd’s Alexis Sanchez Wants To Stay At Inter Who Are Considering Keeping Him

Alexis Sanchez will attempt to convince Inter to keep a hold of him past the end of this season in what remains of this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The Chilean national team attacker joined Inter on a season long loan this past Summer from Premier League side Manchester United but it as yet unclear what his future will be.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal player came on off the bench in this weekend’s draw away to Napoli and impressed, so much so that he may have earned a place in the starting line-up ahead of Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez, who performed poorly.

Sanchez hopes to be able to stay with the Nerazzurri club and Inter are now thinking about it, the report from the Turin based news outlet explains. Finding an agreement with Manchester United will however not be easy for Inter.

Hellas Verona Decline Inter’s Opening Offer For Marash Kumbulla Amid Strong Interest From Lazio

Lazio are really interested in signing Hellas Verona Marash Kumbulla in the upcoming transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

Lazio have been in contact with Hellas Verona in recent days over Kumbulla and hope to be able to beat Inter and Juventus to the signature of the Italian born Albanian national team centre back.

Hellas Verona want a sum of €35 million for Kumbulla, who is among the most highly rated young players currently playing in Italy.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare however does not wish to pay that much for the 20-year-old and hopes to be able to do a deal for less than that.

The report goes on to explain that Lazio’s interest led to Inter making their first offer for Kumbulla which consists of €18 million plus Eddie Salcedo but Hellas Verona deemed the offer to be unsatisfactory.

This season Kumbulla has made 19 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal.

Agreement Imminent Between Clubs & Players Over Contract Extensions Until End Of August

Over the next few days an agreement should be reached between the FIGC, the Italian leagues, the AIC and AIAC regarding the extension of players’ contracts to the end of August, according to a report from yesterday’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how individual agreements will still be needed, but this framework will help to guide and facilitate negotiations between the players and the clubs. For players whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season it will be dealt with in a case by case basis, but there will be an automatic extension for players who have multiple years left on their contract.

Regarding players who are currently out on loan, the report continues, there will need to be agreements reached between the two clubs, especially if the player in question is on a dry loan, like Inter’s Radja Nainggolan at Cagliari.

A deal will still be made for players like Stefano Sensi who are on loan with a buy obligation attached, although certain details will need to be amended.

Andrea Pinamonti On Returning To Inter: “See What Happens At The End Of The Season”

Striker Andrea Pinamonti, who is currently on the books at Genoa but who have a gentleman’s agreement that he will return to Inter, discussed his career, his dreams of playing for Italy in next summer’s European Championships and if he’ll return to the Nerazzurri in an interview in yesterday’s paper edition of the Genoa based newspaper Il Secolo XIX.

First, he discussed the comments on Italy coach Roberto Mancini, who stated that Pinamonti was ‘the future of Italy’.

“Mancini’s words had made me very proud, I won’t hide that. I will always give my best to reach my goals and consequently, working silently and humbly, I will try to be ready for the 2021 European Championships.”

The 21-year-old Italian forward discussed how he is doing in Genoa and if he is happy.

“In Genoa I feel good, I like to wake up in the morning and see the sea. I don’t have a favourite place, I like to walk along the sea with Nicole, it relaxes me.”

Finally, Pinamonti spoke about his future and whether he’ll stay with Genoa or return to Inter.

“It’s too early to talk about that. Now I’m just thinking about doing well, helping out to avoid relegation. Then, as always, at the end of the season they’ll come to terms.”

The 21-year-old Italian forward is a product of the Nerazzurri’s youth system, having been with the club since he was 14.

Despite being a professional for Inter since 2016, Pinamonti has only made three league appearances for the Milanese club, spending last season on loan with Frosinone and this season on loan with the Rossoblu.

He signed for the Genoa based club on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, but he could still return to Milan as the Nerazzurri look for a replacement for Lautaro Martinez, who seems likely to join Barcelona in the summer.

Ezequiel Schelotto: “Inter Treated Me Badly, Many Who Are Still There Disappointed Me”

Brighton full back Ezequiel Schelotto discussed his time in the Premier League and his memories of Inter and Serie A in an interview with Italian media outlet GianlucaDiMarzio.com yesterday.

“I had a very difficult year. I don’t have any more pain and I feel stronger than before. We are charged, ten teams will play to avoid relegation and it will be like a new season. We’ll start from scratch playing every three days.”

He spoke about how he has transition from a winger into a full back.

“I started playing there before I moved to Sporting Lisbon. Now, the full backs are more aggressive than defenders, so I have more room to fight the opponent and exploit my speed.”

The 31-year-old Italian Argentinian spoke about how he was badly treated by Inter during his time there. The player was contracted to the Nerazzurri for two years but only made 12 league appearances for the side.

“My conscience is clear. In life you have to have respect and Inter treated me badly. Many people who are still there have disappointed me. I tore up the contract because I didn’t want to know anything more, but it’s a choice I wouldn’t make again. I have great respect for both the fans and Moratti.”

Finally, Schelotto talked about his departure from Inter and what it takes to be great at the club.

“The new club, on the other hand, started a new cycle and kicked me out. They signed Stramaccioni and when he was dismissed, they sent his players away too. It’s not enough to wear Inter’s shirt to be great, you have to be great like people who help those who need it most. When I was 23, I signed a five-year contract. I went on my way and at Sporting Lisbon they still ask me to come back.”

Schelotto spent two seasons in Milan with the Nerazzurri but struggled to make an impact with the squad. Making only 12 league appearances, the 31-year-old signed for three different clubs on loan, Sassuolo, Parma and Chievo, but didn’t particularly impress. He has found more success in England with Brighton, being used semi-regularly this season.
