Milan Mayor Sala On New Stadium: “Inter & AC Milan Know What They’re Asking Is Impossible”

Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has admitted that there is still some distance between Inter and AC Milan’s demands and what the Milan city council can grant them in terms of volume of additional buildings as part of the new stadium project.

As part of their stadium project, the two clubs wish to build several additional buildings to give life to the area when football is not being played.

The clubs would like hotels, shops and restaurants among other things to be built but the amount they want exceeded what the Milan city council can give to them.

“The teams know about the maximum volumes that the City can grant them. The clubs know that what they have asked for so far is impossible for us to accept. This remains a fundamental knot,” Sala remarked in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Il Giorno, which appeared on their online edition.

In recent weeks the two clubs published further renderings of the projects put forward to them by the Populous group and Manica/CMR Sportium project and it remains to be seen which of the projects the two clubs will decide to go on with.

Napoli’s Dries Mertens Doubtful To Start In Tomorrow’s Coppa Italia Clash Against Inter

Dries Mertens is a serious doubt for Napoli ahead of tomorrow night’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg match at home to Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Napoli’s medical staff are to try and do everything to get the Belgian national team attacker available for the match but time is running out and it is running out very fast.

Mertens may not be the only big name absentee if he is unable to recover for the match either with the report from the Rome based news outlet going on to add that midfield duo Fabian Ruiz and Allan are doubtful too.

Greek central defender Kostas Manolas is meanwhile certain of missing out on the match at the Stadio San Paolo against Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri side.

Napoli head into the fixture with a 1-0 lead over Inter from the first leg and the winner of the tie will face either Juventus or AC Milan in the final.

Inter & Barcelona’s Talks Regarding Lautaro Martinez Getting Increasingly Complicated

Negotiations between Inter and Barcelona over Lautaro Martinez are becoming increasingly complicated according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was aired a short time ago.

Barcelona seemingly see Lautaro as their top transfer target ahead of the upcoming transfer window and have been in talks with Inter for some time over the highly rated 22-year-old Argentine national team striker.

The report goes on to explain that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta far from appreciated the recent attack he was subjected to in Catalan media where he was accused of trying to put pressure on Barcelona by lying about the expiration date of Lautaro Martinez’s €111 million release clause.

This season Lautaro, who has a contract with Inter through to the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date.

In his time on the park, which totals just over 2400 minutes, Lautaro has scored 16 goals and provided four assists for his teammates.

Italian Media Suggests Spalletti & Nainggolan Could Be Key In Inter’s Pursuit Of Fiorentina’s Chiesa

Luciano Spalletti could potentially prove key in Inter’s pursuit of Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Although no longer Inter manager, Spalletti is currently still on the club’s books until June 2021. Should Fiorentina want Spalletti to become their manager and take over from Giuseppe Iachini, Inter could agree a pay-off sum with Spalletti and use paying Spalletti off as a bargaining chip in their bid to get Chiesa.

Inter could in fact potentially do a package deal with Fiorentina given the two clubs have things they want from the other clubs. Inter could potentially agree to free Spalletti and could also throw in Radja Nainggolan in return for Chiesa.

Spalletti and Nainggolan both make a lot of money and by offloading their salaries, Inter could free up funds to pursue a move for Chiesa, who they have been courting for a considerable amount of time.

This season Chiesa has made 26 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored seven goals and provided five assists for his teammates.

Christian Eriksen Certain To Start For Inter Tomorrow In Coppa Italia Clash Vs Napoli

Christian Eriksen is certain to start for Inter in tomorrow night’s Coppa Italia semi final second leg away to Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter manager Antonio Conte is to deploy Inter in a 3-4-1-2 system at the Stadio San Paolo and this will allow Eriksen to play in his natural role of attacking midfielder.

Whilst football has been on hold due to the Coronavirus crisis, Eriksen has been able to get to the same level physically as his teammates something which will undoubtedly help him perform better in the remainder of the season.

The report from the Rome based news outlet goes on to explain that the Danish national team player will be tasked with feeding the ball to strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez whilst Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella, who will be playing behind him, will act almost like his bodyguards.

Spanish Media Report Barcelona Enquire About Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni

Barcelona have made an enquiry to Inter for Alessandro Bastoni according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Don Balon.

Bastoni has had a breakthrough season at first team level for Inter this term and his performances have caught the eye of the Blaugrana club but the report warns that Inter will not let Bastoni go on the cheap.

The former Atalanta player is widely regarded as one of the best centre back prospects out there at the moment and is not the only Inter player that Barcelona have their eyes on.

The reigning La Liga champions are also extremely interested in signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who is reportedly their top transfer target ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team striker has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter which runs until 2023 but it is widely understood that Barcelona have no intention of paying that.

Inter & Brescia Locked Down In Negotiations For Sandro Tonali – Two Solutions Being Discussed

Inter are ready to make a player or players plus cash offer for Brescia’s Sandro Tonali according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The highly rated Italian national team midfielder is one of Inter’s top transfer targets and they have offered him a contract with a base salary of €2.5 million a year which can rise to €3 million with thanks to easily achievable add-ons.

Inter are now dealing with Brescia thanks to Tonali’s agent Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bozzo, who is highly experienced in complicated negotiations such as this one.

Whilst Brescia would like €50 million for Tonali, Inter are willing to offer €35 million plus add-ons as well as one or two young players.

Alternatively, a deal could be achieved on a loan with obligation to buy basis. Inter could pay €8-10 million for the loan and then pay €30-35 million to sign him outright.

In the coming days the two clubs will continue to negotiate a deal for the 20-year-old, who has already told Inter he wants to move to them.
