Roma and Watford interested in Juan Jesus The Brazilian defender is finding very little game time at Inter and his former coach Walter Mazzarri could attempt to bring him to the Premier League. Despite his best attempts to throw journalists off the scent last month, column inches continue to be filled with speculation over Juan Jesus’ future. The Brazilian has enjoyed very little game time at Inter since the triumphant arrivals of Miranda and Jeison Murillo last summer, so by adding two and two together you reach the conclusion that the club might look to make some money off him at some point in the near future (particularly given the new, tighter regulations on squad compositions that come into effect from the 2016-17 season, which require all Serie A teams to reserve a certain number of spots for Italian-born players.) After a previous claim from Gianluca Di Marzio that Spartak Moscow had made contact with the player’s entourage – which would appear not to have led to anything – Gazzetta dello Sport reports on Friday that both Watford and Roma are interested in signing the defender, if I’m allowed to call him that, with the Premier League side holding a slight advantage over the Giallorossi. Walter Mazzarri is of course the man who has taken over at Vicerage Road, and has supposedly identified Juan as a transfer target after spending two years with him at Inter, with the Pozzo family possessing the financial muscle to buy him outright and then afford his wages. Roma meanwhile have been interested for a year and came close to signing him in each of the last two transfer sessions, but they are only interested in a loan deal at the moment and Inter would not accept such a proposal. They want to get rid of him permanently and bring in some money from it, and quite understandably so. Were Juan to leave Inter would then need to look for a replacement, as Andrea Ranocchia is also likely to depart given the disastrous two years he has just come through, although it’s not clear yet who this would be. Ezequiel Garay and Jeffrey Bruma (who’s close to joining Wolfsburg) are two players who have been linked with us in recent weeks, but they have been presented as potential replacements for Murillo and not JJ, which suggests we may look for another centre-back on top of one of those. Francesco Acerbi is an idea that could return, but the Domenico Berardi question will need to be resolved once and for all before Inter and Sassuolo can sit down and have amicable talks on any other matter. As nice a man as JJ appears to be, his departure would be long overdue. If Watford did arrive with a satisfactory offer for him, I’m sure Inter would not hesitate to let him go and I’m equally sure that’s a decision they would not live to regret. He does not play with his brain often enough to merit a team as prestigious as Inter, if ever, so let’s hope someone takes him away from us and we can leave another sorry chapter of our post-treble history behind us. , via The Offside Inter Milan – All Posts http://ift.tt/28YxFql »
