FOX: Gabigol’s agent speaks out – “He is unhappy, as every player who does not play”
Interviewed by FOX Sports, the agent of Gabigol has retraced the four months in Inter since the attacker joined from Santos, demanding clarity about his future:
“Gabriel went away from Brazil in a great moment. it was Olympic champion with the Selecao, owner in Santos, had been summoned by coach Tite when he was still in Brazil. He arrived in Italy and is welcomed by more than a thousand people at the airport, Inter and Pirelli make the presentation in an auditorium as they did with Ronaldo, is physically well and fits in the team: in two months the coach Frank De Boer made him play 16 minutes, you have a new coach and the last match has fielded for 3 minutes. Now he is unhappy, as every player who does not play. He offered to return to Brazil and also offers from European clubs.”
What is the reason of the continuous exclusions?
“I was at San Siro for the Inter-Fiorentina, was the president Erick Thohir and I asked him why Barbosa did not play in the second half when Inter won 3-0. Gabriel has a great relationship with everyone in the dressing room, with Brazilians, Argentines, Italians and players from other countries. I understand that he is young, and is in a learning phase and has much to learn, but I wonder what he lacks to play. At least give him a chance to play at least once, to show that he’s worth 30 million!”
Inter attack with different players: No Candreva which is part of the Italian national team, there is Icardi who is a center forward and score goals. If Inter were leading the Serie A I’d say they’re waiting for him to play. But Inter are in mid-table and he has no chance. Fans call upon his name but he does not enter. Therefore it is very sad, and for me Gabriel is like a son. Economically it was a great choice to go to Inter, but talking about football … Tite is already part of the group in Brazil, as Gabriel can enter if he does not play? In January, when I’m in Italy, I will ask what is the sporting director Piero Ausilio – Pioli project for him: Will they give him a chance or will they send him away on loan?”
Among the various rumors – Does he prefer Las Palmas or the return to Brazil?
“First he has to clarify his position at Inter. But to Las Palmas he will face another adaptation process. Adriano went to Parma and returned an Emperor. I remember when Kaka arrived at Milan, in front of him had Rui Costa. Ancelotti was coach, and ordered him to enter the second half: Kaka was the best on the field. Robinho has emerged at Real Madrid. Neymar we all know. Gabriel is young but has no opportunity, even when Inter won 3-1 . They spent 30 million euro, a fortune. When I spoke with Piero Ausilio I asked him if the coach knew where and how to play Gabriel, or if he had in mind not to play because they thought he was ready. He responded that he would play: it is already past mid-season and still has not played.”
In Brazil we talk about Flamengo, Palmeiras, Santos and Atletico Mineiro:
“I do not want to name names, but four big Brazilian clubs have inquired about Gabigol. Everyone knows him in the field, has enormous potential. It was not in the Olympic National or holder in Santos by chance. He was paid 30 million and today has a European engagement, it is difficult for a Brazilian club who can afford that much.”
Would Inter be willing to pay part of his salary? “We’ll see in January. If he comes back to Brazil would you say that it has failed. But I wonder how can you have failed if you did not play. I do not think that would return because it was a failure: would return because they were not given a chance. But there are also opportunities in big European clubs.”
He played 18 minutes in two games. I do not want to force the coach, but if he does not play for Inter opportunities in another team. There is no club higher than Inter.
If in the summer there were other teams in addition to Inter? “Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Leicester. The economic aspect is what decided his transfer to Inter, because Juve is at the same level of Inter. We chose Inter because the project they had for him was very good, also related to marketing. At the Olympics I met President Thohir and told me that Inter would have made Gabriel the best player in the world.”
