Inter Defender Asamoah’s Father: “He’s Not Retired From Ghana Duty, He’d Be Honoured If He Was Called Up”

Kwadwo Asamoah’s father Emmanuel Asamoah has confirmed that his son would welcome a recall to the Ghanaian national team in the future.

The experienced full back has made a total of 71 appearances for Ghana and was part of the squad that very nearly reached the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Asamoah has however rarely played for Ghana since 2017 due to a series of disagreement with manager James Kwesi Appiah but with Appiah now out of the job, there is a chance that Asamoah could well end up back in the team.

“He has not retired from the Black Stars and he would be honoured if he received a call up,” he remarked in an interview with Ghanaian radio station Ashh FM earlier on today.

Asamoah is under contract with Inter until the end of next season but various reports in the media have suggested that he could be on his way out of the club with Fenerbahce and Hoffenheim both having been linked as of late.

This season he has made just 11 appearances across all competitions due to a knee problem and in just shy of 900 minutes on the field, he has tallied a single assist.

Racing Club Psychologist On Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez: “He’s A Brilliant Boy, He’s Orderly, Intelligent & Professional”

Cecilia Contarino, the psychologist at Racing Club, has praised Inter striker Lautaro Martinez for the mentality that he has, something she got to see first hand.

In an interview with Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Contarino recalled when she put the 22-year-old through a series of concentration retention tests.

“We did the ‘concentration grid’ test with him and he was the first boy to maintain concentration for the duration of the exercise,” she began.

“Usually boys start well and then drop off or vice verse but Lautaro maintained his concentration perfectly the whole time. I thought he was lucky so then did the ‘Toulouse test’ and it went the same way. I called the youth academy coordinator and told him that Lautaro has a wonderful head.”

She then went on to suggest that nothing phases the highly rated 22-year-old striker, who is currently being heavily linked with a possible Summer transfer window switch to Spanish giants Barcelona.

“On the field there are many factors that can distract a player, such as the fans, the opposition, the climate or tiredness. A footballer must concentrate.

“I asked him things and he replied as if nothing disturbed him. He got 98 out of 100. The normal score is between 50 and 70. Lautaro started concentrated and ended that way too and the great thing is that it was the first test.”

Contarino concluded the interview with Mundo Deportivo by speaking on the friendship that she has with the player.

“Over time I got to know Lautaro and a much closer relationship was formed. We talk a lot. In fact, I spoke to him a little while ago. I adore him. He is a brilliant boy. He is orderly, intelligent and professional.”

Lautaro is currently in his second season with Inter following a circa €20 million move from Racing Club back in the Summer of 2018.

The Argentine national team forward, who has a contract with the club until 2023, has surprised many with the exponential growth he has had this term, in which he has netted 16 goals and tallied four assists in 31 games.

Martinez Quarta’s Agent: “I’ve Not Met With AC Milan, Beyond Zanetti’s Words, There’s Not Much At The Moment With Inter”

Inter linked River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta’s agent Gustavo Goni has denied having any contact with AC Milan over his client.

“I have to be very honest, I have never had meetings with AC Milan representatives,” he remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

“I know that AC Milan has been to Argentina to watch some River Plate games. I don’t know if Martinez Quarta was the real reason for the mission, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was.”

He was then asked what he made of Inter vice president Javier Zanetti’s recent praise of his client.

“It is always very important to receive praise from such an important former person in Javier Zanetti. It was certainly exciting for him. Will he be the next Argentine to join Inter? I don’t know but I really hope so.”

Next he was asked if there have been any negotiations with Inter about a possible move: “I have not had particular contact with them. Beyond Zanetti’s words, there is not much at the moment.”

Goni then went on to confirm that his client has a release clause and suggested that the global Coronavirus crisis could have an impact on his client’s value.

“Can I confirm that he has a € 22 million release clause? Yes. Will his price be affected by Coronavirus? It could be but much will depend on the offers that will arrive.

“I believe that it will be a different transfer market. There will be a lot of flexibility and imagination and it will be a difficult transfer market.”

The 23-year-old, who holds dual Argentine and Italian citizenship, is a product of River Plate’s famed academy and has a contract with them until the end of June 2021.

This season the highly rated youngster has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has tallied a single assist and helped the team keep many clean sheets.

Inter Legend Materazzi: “I Gave Balotelli A Good Beating, He Really Deserved It But We’re Practically Brothers Now”

In an interview with chef and Inter fan Davide Oldani, legendary Inter defender Marco Materazzi recalled what he did to Mario Balotelli after the striker’s infamous shirt throwing incident.

“I gave him a good beating, it’s true. I love Mario, but he really deserved it that day. We’ve become friends again now, practically brothers, but he did something that day that he really should not have done,” Materazzi remarked in the interview which took place via Instagram.

“Throwing his shirt to the ground after the final whistle wasn’t even the worst of it. Before the game, on the team bus, he told us: ‘Today I’m going to play badly,’ so I promised to make him pay if he did.

“When he came off the bench, he tried a shot from midfield rather than go on the counter. Diego Milito wanted to kill him. We believed in Mario, he scored many goals and contributed to the victory, but a week after that, I asked Mourinho to put me against Balotelli in the training ground games between ranks. After a few seconds, I’d send him back to the dressing room.”

Materazzi then went on to speak about former Inter manager Jose Mourinho.

“Nobody can match Mourinho when it comes to creating that empathic connection with players. Plus, he’s a smartass. He has struggled to win recently, because he was successful at Manchester United. Tottenham have a young and strong squad, so I hope he can get back to winning ways.”

He then spoke on current Inter manager Antonio Conte and praised him for what he has done in his first season in charge.

“Conte’s seriousness is unquestionable, his past was questionable but now he’s become part of Inter and more likeable.

“He has narrowed the gap with the top teams and it’s important for the future, it is also normal that something is missing. The club is renovating everything, even the training ground, we must look to Juventus as an example. Inter always remains Inter, but must adapt to the times.”

He then spoke on Inter striker Lautaro Martinez who is continually being linked with a move away from the club, especially to Barcelona.

“He’s very strong, but I’m biased because I’m an Inter fan and Milito recommended him to me. When I went to Argentina, Diego told me he was a phenomenon. Why did he explode this year? Last year he was in the shadow of Icardi and he had just arrived from South America but in any case he did well.”

Next he reminisced about what he felt like when Ronaldo joined Inter: “It was the greeting feeling I ever felt when I saw him for the first time at Pinetina.

Materazzi also shared his appreciation for former Inter owner and president Massimo Moratti.

“He gave me everything he could give me to raise all the cups in 2010. He put us in the ideal conditions to win what he dreamed about since childhood, the treble.”

Materazzi joined Inter in the Summer of 2001 from Perugia and spent the next decade on Inter’s books, during which time he won practically all there is to win.

Italian Minister For Sport Spadafora: “We Hope To Confirm The May 4 Date For A Return To Training As Soon As Possible”

Italian government minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora has admitted that the coming weeks will determine when all forms of sport will be able to return.

Sport at all levels in Italy have been on hold for around a month now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains completely unknown if the current seasons will be able to resume or not.

Despite the uncertainty, all of the relevant bodies, such as the Italian football federation and European football’s governing body UEFA are working around the clock trying to come up with possible solutions if the season can indeed resume.

“The next few weeks will be fundamental to understand the evolution of the healthcare situation and how, if and when we can get back to playing sporting at all levels,” he said during a video which he posted to his official Facebook profile.

Spadafora, who has held his current position since 2018, then went on to discuss the possible resumption of training for football teams.

“We hope to confirm the May 4 date for a return to training as soon as possible. I hope we can keep to that date, even if it is only for training behind closed doors.”

He concluded the video, which was around five minutes in length, by insisting: “At this moment, our only concern must be the health and safety of the general population.”
