Real Madrid Keen On Inter Target Aubameyang After Being Rejected By Lautaro Martinez

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has made it clear to Real Madrid that he does not wish to join them and would instead prefer to play for their rivals Barcelona according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

Los Blancos contacted the highly rated 22-year-old to gauge his interest in a possible Summer transfer window switch to the Santiago Bernabeu but the Argentine told them he is not interested in a move to them.

Having been knocked back by Lautaro, the report goes on to state that Real Madrid have now directed their attention toward signing Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international striker is widely expected to leave the Premier League outfit in the coming months due to the fact his contract expires at the end of next season and he does not want to extend it.

Real Madrid are not the only club to have shown an interest in the former Borussia Dortmund man with a number of recent reports suggesting Inter have identified him as Lautaro Martinez’s replacement if he goes on to leave.

Lazio President Lotito Convinced He Can Keep Long Term Inter Target Milinkovic-Savic

It is growing increasingly likely that Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will remain with Lazio for at least another season according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lazio president and owner Claudio Lotito is convinced that he can keep a hold of the Spanish born Serbian national team midfielder, especially given he signed a new long term contract with the club not long ago.

The report from the Milan based newspaper however goes on to state that the two clubs most interested in signing him at the moment are Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United.

This season Milinkovic-Savic has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 2500 minutes on the park, he has scored five goals and tallied seven assists for his teammates.

Inter Keeping Close Eye On Contract Talks Between Napoli & Mertens

Inter are keeping a close eye on contract extension talks between Napoli and Dries Mertens according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Nerazzuri have identified the 32-year-old forward as a player they could potentially pick up on a free transfer in the coming months and have even tabled him an offer.

As per the report, Inter have offered him a two year contract – which comes with an option of a third year – with an annual salary of €5 million, which is an improvement on Napoli’s offer to the Belgian. Napoli have instead offered him a two year contract extension with an annual salary of €4 million plus bonuses.

The report goes on to state that Inter could look to take advantage Romelu Lukaku and Mertens friendship and have Lukaku try to convince Mertens to swap Naples for Milan.

This season the former PSV Eindhoven player has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 12 goals and tallied six assists.

Italian Report Highlights Lack Of Goals Inter Have Received From Substitutes This Term

Amid speculation about potential changes to substitutions, Gazzetta dello Sport have examined how much of a difference substitutions have made for the current top three in Serie A, Juventus, Lazio and Inter.

Reports in the past few days have suggested that the International Football Association Board (IFAB), who make football’s rules, are mulling over the possibility of increasing the number of substitutes allowed per game from three to five.

This could be a temporary measure brought in if the season is to resume to help clubs manage the conditions of their players.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s report, which appeared in today’s print edition, states that both Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri and Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi have greatly benefited from contributions from players they bring on off of the substitutes bench but the same cannot be said about Inter manager Antonio Conte.

Conte has given 700 minutes less to substitutes than Juventus have and only once has a substitute come on and scored a goal and that was defender Alessandro Bastoni against Lecce.

2019/20 Season Could Resume With Coppa Italia Semi Finals Being Played First

The Lega Serie A have indicated several possible dates that the season could resume and the season could resume with the Coppa Italia semi finals being played first according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lega Serie A have proposed May 27/28, May 30/31 or June 7 as dates when the 2019/20 campaign could well resume but rather than starting with league matches they could play the remaining Coppa Italia semi finals instead before getting league action back underway.

Alternatively, the report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that the 2019/20 season could start back up again on one of the above dates by playing the games that should have been played on match day 25 and proceeding from there.

The season has been on hold for around a month now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and league organisers are seemingly working around the clock to try and come up with a series of solutions to resume the season.

Italian Report Highlights Resumption Of Training Won’t Be The Same For All Teams

The resumption of training will not be the same for everyone according to a report in the print edition of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport.

There has been no shortage of speculation as to when training may resume with most reports stating May 4 as the date that teams might be allowed back at their training ground to train with the view of resuming the 2019/20 season.

Some teams will have it easier than others though, the report suggests. Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, Lazio, Cagliari and Lecce all have spacious training grounds with hotels where the players can stay.

Inter are not in as fortunate a position though. Whilst having no shortage of pitches or changing rooms, the club do have a shortage when it comes to accommodation with them not having enough rooms to accommodate around 60 people.

Atalanta, Roma and Parma find themselves in a similar position to Inter as do the likes of Sampdoria and Genoa who normally rely on external structures.

Inter Linked Mertens Appears Far Away From Agreeing New Deal With Napoli

Dries Mertens appears to be far away from agreeing a contract extension with Napoli according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 32-year-old Belgian national team attacker’s current deal with the Stadio San Paolo is due to expire at the end of this season and although talks over a new deal have taken place, it seems unlikely that he will sign a new deal at the moment.

Several clubs have shown an interest in landing him on a free transfer should he let his contract run down with the Partenopei with Inter being long term admirers of him.

The report from the Rome based newspaper does however go on to warn that Inter are far from alone in courting the former PSV Eindhoven man, who has been with Napoli since the Summer of 2013.

Inter face competition from French outfit AS Monaco as well as Premier League duo Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez Has Important Decision To Make Amid Barcelona Links

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has several things to weigh up amid continued links with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The 22-year-old has long been linked with a switch to the La Liga outfit and is tempted by the prospect of moving to the Camp Nou but at the same time he would like to stay at Inter where he feels great.

Lautaro is said to be seen as the heir to Luis Suarez by Barcelona, who is still performing very well despite him getting on a bit now.

The report warns that by moving to Barceona, the Argentine could give up a role as a key player to become a back-up choice, at least in the beginning whilst Suarez is still with the club.

It also goes on to add that Inter do not want nor do they have to sell him.

Brescia President Cellino On Inter Linked Tonali: “Hope He Stays But If He Asks To Leave We Will Let Him Do So”

Brescia president and owner Massimo Cellino has revealed he dreams of being able to keep a hold of top prospect Sandro Tonali amid continued speculation regarding his future.

The 19-year-old central midfielder, who has been likened to legendary Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo for some time, has had no shortage of interest shown in his services with several Italian clubs, including both Inter and Juventus, as well as many clubs from abroad all reportedly having a keen interest in signing him.

“In January, a very important team came to me and told me they wanted Tonali. I didn’t come up with any numbers, but only one question: Would you let him play in the Champions League immediately?,” he began an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

“They replied they would leave him at Brescia until the end of the season. So, I told them: Thanks, but I’ll keep him and we can talk about it in July.”

He then went on to reveal that another team came in for the teen sensation the following month.

“In February, I received another very important request and I didn’t tell Tonali anything, with the intent of giving him a nice surprise in June. The name of the team, I can’t say, but unfortunately the Coronavirus has changed everything.”

Cellino then went on to share his desire of keeping him around but revealed he will not stand in the youngster’s ay if he asks to leave the Rondinelle, where he has a contract until the end of next season, with an option for a further year.

“My dream would be to keep him. I would be willing to do somersaults but I have a deal with Sandro, who is a great lad. He knows that when he asks me to leave, I will let him go. I will not make it a matter of money. The important thing is that he chooses with his heart and he is the only one who decides.”

Next Cellino discussed some of the clubs to have been linked with Tonali, who has contributed one goal and five assists in 24 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

“AC Milan? Who runs AC Milan? Once upon a time there was Berlusconi and Galliani, the masters I was inspired by. Anyway I’m not sure that Tonali supported Milan but for sure I know he loved Gattuso.

“Roma or Napoli ? As I’m a romantic I would like to see him at Roma or Napoli but it will hardly happen. Juventus? They have grown a lot with Agnelli and Paratici. There is a foreign owner at Inter and I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting him but they have Marotta, a top executive for whom I have great respect.

“We will see what happens but it will depend on Tonali and what he will choose but I hope he stays in Italy and that he plays.”

French Report Claims Inter’s Bid To Sign Mertens Helped By Fact That Contract talks With Napoli Stalled

The stall in contract extension talks between Napoli and Dries Mertens could help out clubs who have shown an interest in signing him according to a report from French news outlet Le10Sport.com.

The club and Mertens have held talks over extending his deal past the end of this season in recent weeks but the current global Coronavirus crisis has complicated matters.

Inter, AS Monaco and Paris Saint Germain have all recently shown an interest in signing the Belgian national team attacker on a free transfer and the report claims that there has recently been contact between Inter and Mertens over a potential move with Inter manager Antonio Conte wanting to partner Mertens up with Romelu Lukaku.

The report does however go on to add that AS Monaco are ready to present a very big offer to Mertens in a bid to convince him to leave Naples.

This season the 32-year-old has made 29 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 12 goals and tallied six assists.
