Inter Will Try & Sign Barcelona Midfielder Vidal Again In The Next Transfer Window

Inter will once again try to sign Arturo Vidal from Barcelona in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

The Nerazzurri tried to land the Chilean national team midfielder back in the January transfer window and Inter sporting director met Barcelona management twice to discuss a potential deal but no agreement could be reached.

The two clubs have good relations with one another due to doing several deals between themselves down the years and the report from Sport insists that the relations remain good despite them failing to do a deal over Vidal a few months back.

Inter manager Antonio Conte is seemingly desperate to work with Vidal again, a player he worked with with great success at Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

The report goes on to state that Vidal could move to Inter as part of a deal that would send Lautaro Martinez in the opposite direction or in a completely separate deal.

Fiorentina President Commisso On Inter Targets Castrovilli & Chiesa: “Castrovilli Will Stay But If The Right Offer Arrives For Chiesa He May Go”

Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso has reiterated that Gaetano Castrovilli and Federico Chiesa will be staying put at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, amid ongoing links with moves elsewhere ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Castrovilli has been one of the revelations of the season with him having been given his breakthrough and he has seemingly got a number of clubs courting him, including Inter and Roma.

As for Chiesa, he has long been regarded as one of the most promising Italian talents out there and both Inter and Juventus have a long standing interest in signing him.

Despite the apparent wealth of interest in each player, American-Italian businessman Commisso is adamant that the two players will be staying.

“I said that I only want players who want to remain here,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia.

“Castrovilli has a long contract and he will certainly remain here. As for Chiesa, I kept him last Summer and we will try to satisfy him but if the right offer arrives…”

Commisso then went on to share his desire to further improve La Viola, who he bought a majority stake in this past Summer.

“I want Fiorentina to become like Milan, Inter and Juve, a club where the players want to stay.

“The situation has changed at Fiorentina, that is clear for all to see, and that includes Chiesa. We want to build an even stronger squad and it’ll be great if all the best players are part of it.”

CONI President Malago: “A Precise, Clear, Practicable & Convincing Plan Is Missing”

Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), has shared his view that all the relevant parties should have met at the same time and not left until an agreement was reached with regard to the possible resumption of the 2019/20 season.

Football at all levels in Italy has been on hold for around a month now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and Malago believes there is currently lots of confusion and division.

“An extremely confused and highly divisive debate is being generated and it can’t lead to anything good,” he began an interview with Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition of the paper.

“Without wishing for controversy, for heaven’s sake, I would have locked FIGC, the Lega A, the Players’ Association, the coaches, TV and the international organisations, FIFA and UEFA, in a room and not let the out until they had produced a common path.

“The same goes for Serie B and Lega Pro. What are you willing to leave on the table if the season doesn’t end? And what about television companies, the federation, footballers, FIFA and UEFA? How much will you contribute?

He then went on to share his belief that a clear plan is currently missing at the moment although he understands that it is a difficult situation at the moment.

“We proceed by sight, by hypothesis, with a conflict that damages any planning. I speak to Gravina every day, I read his interview with La Repubblica with great attention. I understand the difficulties at the moment, and I understand that he wants to complete the season.

“Talking about July, August, September, October even the next Serie A divided into two groups with the play-offs. What’s missing is a precise, clear, practicable and convincing plan.

“Logistics, transportation. There’s only talk about cuts in player salaries. They have started from the end, or almost, of agreements on the high seas and now of a medical protocol that will have to be examined by the ISS [The Italian National Institute of Health].

Malago then went on to share his hope to see the Italian government give teams the green light to return to training as soon as possible.

“The resumption of activity. First, we must resume training. I hope that the government will authorise it as soon as possible. I hoped it could already start after Easter, then on April 27, but they agreed that the right date is May 4.

“It is needless to underline the essential and important respect for the parameters indicated by doctors, access, distances and more.

“We need to restart the athlete’s machine, which can’t stand still for too long. Then it’s about the progress of the matches. It seems to me that it was clear enough when I listed the points of confusion that characterised the month of March and these first days of April.

He concluded the interview: “There are too many diverging interests at stake, those who are afraid of relegation, losing a mountain of money. We are people of the world, it’s understandable, it’s human.”

Inter & AC Milan Against Prospect Of Having To Play Remainder Of Season Away From San Siro

Inter and AC Milan are both against the idea of potentially having to play their games away from San Siro should the 2019/20 Serie A season resume according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

In the past few days reports have speculated that games may not take place in the north of the country should the season resume due to some clubs having concerns about travelling to the Lombardy region, which has been the worst affected in all of Italy by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The report goes on to state that playing away from San Siro would undoubtedly be a disadvantage to both clubs, who will not accept such an idea unless the Italian government or local government intervene, even if all games will be played behind closed doors if the season is to resume.

It is presently unclear what other Lombardy based clubs such as Atalanta and Brescia think of the idea of playing all of their remaining games away from home although it can be presumed that they will not be for the idea.

Italian Report Claims Inter Don’t Have To Sell Lautaro Martinez Amid Continued Links With A Move Elsewhere

Inter are not in a position where they have to sell Lautaro Martinez and he will only be allowed to leave on Inter president Steven Zhang’s terms if he asks to leave according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Argentine national team striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in the coming months with both Barcelona and Manchester City in particular linked to him.

As things stand, Lautaro is tempted by the prospect of a move to Barcelona, even if he is very happy in Milan and very grateful to Inter.

It is no secret that talks have taken place between Barcelona and his representatives and it is widely understood that they wish to do a player(s) plus cash deal for the 22-year-old, opposed to paying his €111 million release clause.

Carles Alena, Nelson Semedo, Junior Firpo and Marc Cucurella could be included in a bid from Barcelona.

The report goes on to add that Steven Zhang wants as much cash as possible if Lautaro must go as he wants plenty funds to reinforce the team.

Ex-Inter Director Taveggia: “I Brought Javier Zanetti To Inter & Was On Verge To Sign Batistuta From Fiorentina”

Former Inter director Paolo Taveggia has revealed that if it were not for him then the legendary Javier Zanetti would not have ended up at Inter.

“Without me he would not have ended up at Inter. Julio Grondona, the then president of the Argentine Football Federation, helped me to get him for $4.5 million,” Taveggia remarked in an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

Zanetti joined Inter in the Summer of 1995 from Superliga Argentina side Banfield and would go on to spend a total of 19 years on Inter’s books during which time he would win everything there is to win and also became the club’s record all-time appearance holder.

Taveggia then went onto reveal that he was on the brink of bringing Gabriel Batistuta to the club during his peak but former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti caused the deal to collapse.

“I had agreed with Batistuta to bring him to Inter. In agreement with his agent Imborgia I had practically snatched him from Fiorentina, but Moratti listened to his managerial friends and the deal collapsed.”

Taveggia also revealed that he tried to get Carlo Ancelotti hired as manager of Inter but once again Moratti ended up leading to any potential deal collapsing.

“In October 1995 I had taken Carlo Ancelotti to the Saras offices and asked Moratti to hire him in the Summer of 1996. Moratti said yes but then listened to others and brought in Hodgson for the 1996/97 season instead.”

In conclusion Taveggia, who was also formerly a director of Inter’s city rivals AC Milan, spoke on today’s Inter and the links to Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi.

“Conte is a great manager and the Suning group are a guarantee for Inter. If they buy Messi, then Inter can win trophies quickly.”

Italian Report Reveals How Much Testing Players’ Health Conditions Could Cost Clubs

It will cost clubs in the region of €100,000 to test all of their players’ health status according to a report in yesterday’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Prior to the possible resumption of training at the beginning of next month, it has been widely reported that all players will have their conditions tested at a cost of between €1800-2000 per player.

With teams tending to have first team squads of around 25, it will cost them in and around €50,000 to test all of them and around the same amount to test their Primavera teams.

Whilst the sum is only a drop in the ocean for Serie A clubs, it will be a particularly big expense for clubs lower down the Italian football pyramid.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that on top of this expense, all clubs will have to pay for training grounds and other places to be santised daily.

Ex-Inter Player Sixto Peralta: “Incredible How Humble & Calm Ronaldo Was”

Former Inter attacking midfielder Sixto Raimundo “Mumo” Peralta Salso has reflected on his brief time with Inter in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it, which started with Peralta explaining his arrival at the club in the year 2000.

“I was 20-years-old. It was an Inter that needed to win and wanted to win. It was a team full of important players, there were world class players there. I learned a lot by going into the dressing room, which was a very nice experience.”

He was then asked what struck him most when he arrived at the Nerazzurri from Superliga Argentina side Racing Club, the same club Inter purchased Lautaro Martinez from in the Summer of 2018.

“The stronger and more important a player was, the more humble he was. It seems incredible to think but the greatest of all, Il Fenomeno Ronaldo, was a very calm boy and was insanely humble.

“I had a beautiful relationship with all South Americans. Javier Zanetti helped me look for a house and there was Ivan Cordoba, Martin Rivas, Alvaro Recoba and Ivan Zamorano too. They took care of the younger players and treated me spectacularly well. I will always remember this.”

He then spoke on his debut which came in the Supercoppa Italiana against Lazio.

“I played the whole second half. The first half had not gone very well but over the second 45 minutes we drew level several times. It was a good game and it is too bad that we lost it 4-3.”

He then went back to discuss his arrival at the club and how he felt when he was told the deal was done for him to move to Inter.

“I was the starter of the Argentina Under 20 national team and at Racing, together with Diego Milito. There were several rumours about me then my agent said to me that it was all done with Inter.

“I felt mixed emotions given my age. There was fear and great joy as well as uncertainty. I found myself travelling to Inter when I was very young to play in a world class squad.”

Next he spoke on Milito and why he thinks it took so long for him to join the club.

“Each player matures at his own pace and goes on different paths. Diego had some difficulties when he was very young.

“He then grew tonnes and became very great and was able to distinguish himself in the football world. He always kept his head on his shoulders and this certainly helped him a lot.”

He concluded by admitting he would have liked to have played more for Inter, especially during his peak: “I would have liked to have played 20-30 games at Inter during the best moment of my career. It is a thorn that remains in my side, but you cannot cry over spilled milk.”

Peralta spent a total of three years on the club’s books and made just three appearances across all competitions due to loan moves to Torino, Ipswich Town and Racing Club.
