Tottenham & Man United Considering Making A Move For Inter Defender Diego Godin

Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are taking a look at Inter defender Diego Godin, who could leave the Nerazzurri this Summer according to a report from Italian transfer market expert Nicolo Schira.

As per Schira’s report, Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is a long term admirer of the experienced Uruguayan national team centre back as he wanted him whilst he was also in charge at Spurs’ fellow Premier League side Manchester United in the past few years.

Godin joined Inter this past Summer on a free transfer after his contract with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid expired but he has visibly struggled in what could well prove to be his only season with Inter, who he is under contract with until the end of June 2022.

The 34-year-old veteran has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has provided a single assist.

Other reports in the media have suggested that Manchester United are also interested in signing him.

Barcelona Will Have 1 Week To Pay €111M In Full Once Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez’ Release Clause Is Activated

Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia have revealed a previously unknown term relating to the release clause in Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s current contract.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team forward has a €111 million release clause in his deal and it is well known that the clause is only valid for clubs outside of Italy and can only be activated in the first fortnight of every July.

Sky Sport Italia have today revealed another term and that term is that once the clause is activated, it must be paid in full within one week.

It now remains to be seen if this will put teams off from trying to activate his release clause given they will need to cough up a substantial amount all at once opposed to paying it in a series of instalments.

This season Lautaro, who is under contract until 2023, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists.

Real Madrid Target Inter Defender Alessandro Bastoni To Reinforce Backline

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni is on the radar of Spanish giants Real Madrid ahead of the upcoming transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet Fichajes.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is targeting reinforcements for his back-line and the recently turned 21-year-old is understood to be on his wishlist.

Bastoni is however not Los Blancos top target to strengthen the heart of the defence with the report stating that it is in fact Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt.

If unable to sign de Ligt from the reigning Italian champions, Real Madrid would be more than happy to sign Bastoni instead.

Bastoni is in the midst of his breakthrough season with Inter which has come two years on from him joining in a circa €30 million deal from fellow Serie A side Atalanta.

This term the highly rated defender has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored a single goal.

Serie A Season Could Resume At The End Of May

The Serie A season could resume play from the end of the month of May according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Serie A season has been on hold for little over a month due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and league organisers are working around the clock to try and come up with solutions for how the season can resume, if possible.

The report from the Rome based newspaper claims that clubs may be able to resume training starting May 4 and games will then start up again on either May 30 or May 31.

The season will resume from the eighth round of the second half of the season rather than with the games postponed in the final weeks before the season was forced to a halt due to the crisis situation.

The report goes on to add that UEFA are also waiting to see what leagues do before working out how to proceed with both the Champions League and Europa League.

Some Serie A Clubs Relying On Lawyers To Help Them Deal With Player Salary Reductions

Some Serie A clubs have enlisted the help of lawyers when it comes to dealing with the issue of player salary reductions according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Clubs had asked the Italian players association (AIC) to cut their players wages by two months if the season returns in May or by four months if the season does not resume at all but the AIC sent the proposal right back to the clubs.

As a result, clubs are now bargaining with their players in private over potentially reducing their salaries. 19 Serie A clubs are yet to – at least officially anyway – reach any sort of agreement with players.

As things stand, reigning Italian champions Juventus are the only club to have reached an agreement with their players.

The Bianconeri moved quickly to reach an agreement with their players and did so near the end of last month. The agreement they struck means their players will not be paid for the months of March, April, May or June, regardless of whether the season resumes or not.

Inter Targeting Experienced Players In Chelsea’s Giroud & Barcelona’s Vidal As Well As Youth In Ajax’ Hansen

Inter are targeting players at different stages in their careers ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Nerazzurri are keen to add experienced 33-year-old Olivier Giroud and 32-year-old Arturo Vidal to their ranks from Chelsea and Barcelona respectively but also have their sights set on several potential stars of tomorrow, the report from the Turin based newspaper explains.

Ajax’s teen sensation Sontje Hansen is one player that Inter have on their radar and they are far from alone in courting him as per other reports in the media with Manchester City seemingly also keen on signing him.

Inter also appear to have a deal in place to land 15-year-old Bulgarian midfielder Nikola Iliev, who has already played twice for the Blotev Plovdiv first team despite his age.

The report goes on to conclude that Inter also have an eye on Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla and will try and sign him in the event that Diego Godin leaves the club.

Barcelona Manager Setien On Inter Linked Lionel Messi: “We’re Sure He’ll Finish His Career At Camp Nou”

Barcelona manager Quique Setien has shared what he and Barcelona management are thinking with regard to the future of Lionel Messi with the club.

There has been no shortage of speculation about Messi’s future with the club amid rumours of a deterioration in relations between Messi and club leaders.

Reports in Italian, Spanish and Argentine media have suggested that the multi-time world player of the year could potentially go to Inter whilst others have suggested he could return to boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys.

Messi even called out some of the reports linking him with each of the clubs and brandished them as fake news but reports have continued even after Messi’s proclamation which came via social media.

“We are sure that Messi will finish his career at Camp Nou,” Setien remarked in an interview with Spanish radio station TV3 earlier on today.

This season Messi, who has a contract with the Blaugrana until the end of next season, has made 31 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 24 goals and tallied 16 assists.

FIGC Confirm They’re Close To Finalising Medical Protocol With Aim Of Resuming Season

The Italian football federation (FIGC) medical commission are at work finalising the medical protocol for the resumption of the training with the aim of resuming the seasons afterwards according to a release from FIGC which was posted on their official website.

A second meeting of the medical commission took place earlier on today after the protocol could not be completed during the first meeting.

FIGC state that the protocol is inspired by the principles of simplicity, feasibility and reliability and provides a series of recommendations for everyone to take note of.

Prior to training resuming, all players will be screened, a process that FIGC suggest could take anywhere between 72 and 96 hours.

Training grounds must be completely sanitised too before clubs can return to them as do gyms, changing rooms and any hotels, if clubs do not have a venue where their players can be accommodated.

The protocol will also focus upon how training can then be resumed in terms of what activities can be carried out and how places such as medical and physiotherapy rooms should be laid out.

Professor Paolo Zeppilli who chaired the meeting will make a summary of any other contributions from members before finalising the protocol document which FIGC president Gabriele Gravina will then pass on to the relevant ministers to take a look at.

Change Of Ownership At Newcastle Could Impact Inter Owned Valentino Lazaro’s Future

Valentino Lazaro’s Newcastle United future could be determined by what appears to be an imminent change in ownership at the Premier League club according to a report from Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

As per various reports doing the Magpies appear set to be taken over by a Saudi Arabian backed consortium and as a result, PassioneInter.com suggest Lazaro’s future with the club could be impacted.

The Austrian national team defender joined them on a six month loan with an option to buy at the end of this season back in January but the owners could well decide to go down a different path and thus not take up the option to sign him from Inter.

The 23-year-old joined Inter in a circa €20 million deal this past Summer from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin but struggled to cement a place in Antonio Conte’s team during the first half of the season which led to him being moved to Newcastle.
