Marco Simone: “If I Were AC Milan I’d Try To Sign Inter Owned Mauro Icardi”

Former AC Milan striker Marco Simone has urged the current Rossoneri management team to go in for Inter owned Mauro Icardi in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Icardi is currently out on loan at reigning French champions Paris Saint Germain, who have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million.

There have been contrasting reports in the media with regard to PSG’s intentions for the 27-year-old Argentine forward, who has netted 20 goals and tallied four assists in 31 games across all competitions to date.

In an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Simone, who spent nine years with AC Milan across two spells, discussed the current attackers that the club have available to them and players he thinks should be brought in.

“I would keep Leao, he has strength and talent. Otherwise, if you always find some flaws to those who have talent, you need to start from scratch every time.

“Looking at Piatek, I wouldn’t have given up on him. If Ibra leaves, they will need a centre-forward. I could picture Milik doing well, but I would try to bring Cavani and Icardi to Milan. Mauro would be a great signing.”

Icardi still has a contract with Inter until 2022 and reports elsewhere in the media have suggested that Juventus are also keeping a close eye on his situation at PSG.

Football at all levels, as well as all sporting activity, has been on hold for around about a month now in Italy due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains completely unknown whether the season will resume but Zampa insists the resumption of the season is far from a priority during this unprecedented time where thousands have lost their lives.

“I think it is very difficult for the football leagues to resume but I do not see this as a priority at the moment. In any case, full stadiums will only be seen again when we are safe and that is when we have a vaccine. There will not be normal life until we have the vaccine.”

Reports from various Italian news outlets have speculated for weeks about when the season could resume and possible modifications to the format that could take place if the season does resume however the Coronavirus will ultimately determine how things play out.

Racing Club’s Head Of Academy Fernandez: “Inter’s Lautaro Martinez Is The Next Sergio Aguero”

Adrian Ruben Fernandez, the head of Racing Club’s youth academy, has tipped Inter striker Lautaro Martinez to be the next Sergio Aguero.

In an interview with Spanish news outlet AS, Fernandez, who was among the first to see the now 22-year-old in action upon his arrival at Racing Club from Liniers in 2014, revealed what he thought of him the first time he seen him play.

“He was incredible and had the ability to control the ball with both feet. He was a marvel then and he has been able to develop as he wished to back then.”

He then went on to reveal that he had a big part to play in Lautaro knocking back Real Madrid a few years ago.

“I told him that he had not yet done anything at Racing and that better offers would come. He knew that in the future there would be more benefits for himself and for the club.”

He was then asked whether he thinks Lautaro should go to either Real Madrid or Barcelona now amid continued links to each side in the media of various countries.

“I think that at the Blaugrana he would be more decisive due to the players who are in midfield and for the fact that he would play with Messi. He is the ideal heir of Luis Suarez. He can face any challenge, as he is showing at Inter. He will score between 400-500 goals in his career. He is the next Sergio Aguero.”

This season Lautaro, who has a contract with Inter until 2023, has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 16 goals and provided a total of four assists to his teammates.

Jaap Stam: “Juventus & Inter Wanted Me But I Couldn’t Refuse AC Milan’s Offer”

Former AC Milan and Lazio defender Jaap Stam has revealed that there was a time when Inter and Juventus both wanted to sign him.

“Juve and Inter wanted me, but I chose the Rossoneri without thinking twice about it. I grew up watching van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard, I couldn’t refuse the offer,” he revealed as part of an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport which appeared in today’s print edition.

As part of the interview he also spoke on the Serie A title race with a specific focus on Lazio, who have surprised many with how well they have done, something Stam believes is in large part down to manager Simone Inzaghi.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Lazio have done what they have. They have been working well for years and can win the Scudetto.

“Inzaghi, however, has impressed me. Everybody performs under him, in every position. He’s a tactician with great play and character. If the team are doing well, it’s thanks to him.”

Stam also spoke very briefly on two former Ajax players currently plying their trade in Serie A in Inter’s Christian Eriksen and Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt: “Eriksen and de Ligt are two talents.”

Stam had a 25-year long playing career that began in 1992 with PEC Zwolle and also saw him represent the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United. Since retiring in 2007, he has held several managerial roles at clubs including English Championship outfit Reading.

CONI President Giovanni Malago: “It’s Time To Make Decisions”

Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), has shared his belief that it is now time to make decisions regarding the football season.

Football at all levels in Italy has been on hold for around a month due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and as things stand it remains unclear whether or not the season will resume.

Some Serie A clubs have as many as 13 league games left to play as well as matches in other competitions which makes it far from easy to fit everything in whilst causing as little disruption to next season as possible.

In an interview with broadcaster DAZN today, Malago stated that a decision must be made and admitted that everyone will just have to lose out in some way, although, by his own admission, it is not the ideal solution to what is a very complex and unprecedented situation.

“I believe the big mistake that can be made is to intervene in contexts and worlds where there are precise delegations and representations,” he began.

“Do you want to be the President of a federation? Then this is your time to make decisions.

“Everyone must lose something, the ideal situation would be to find a path together, where there are no losers or winners and to help football start again as soon as possible and regardless of this season.”

He then went on to share his delight at the fact that the European Championship’s scheduled for this Summer were postponed to next Summer.

“It was absolutely the right decision to postpone the competition. Imagine what the European Championship’s would have been like without fans. In my opinion, it will be a great Euros, it will be the reason why international football can start again all together.”

Barcelona Legend Xavi: “Great That Barcelona Want To Sign Inter’s Lautaro Martinez”

Legendary former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has shared his delight at seeing his former employers being interested in signing Inter striker Lautaro Martinez.

For a number of weeks and months now, Barcelona have been strongly linked with making a move for the highly rated 22-year-old, who has a €111 million release clause in his current Inter contract.

Reports have suggested that Barcelona are looking at the Argentine national team forward as the long term successor to Luis Suarez, who recently turned 33-years-old and is out of contract at the end of next season.

Inter will reportedly only allow Lautaro Martinez to depart the club if his release clause, which is only valid for the first two weeks in July, is triggered but Barcelona wish to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.

“I like him. I like how he plays deep and he plays in open and closed spaces. It is good that Barcelona are interested in purchasing him,” Xavi, who is currently the manager of Qatari outfit Al Sadd, revealed in an interview with Spanish YouTube sensation DjMaRiiO, who has over six million subscribers on the platform.
