Man Utd Legend Ryan Giggs Reveals: “In 2003 There Was Talk Of Me Joining Inter”

Legendary former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has today revealed that there was once talk of him leaving the Red Devils to join Inter.

He has revealed that during the same Summer David Beckham swapped Manchester United to become one of Real Madrid’s ‘Galacticos’ he too could have followed Beckham out of the club.

“Around 2003, the summer that David Beckham left, there was talk of me going to join Inter,” he remarked during an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports earlier on today.

“I never heard anything from them personally, but I didn’t have the greatest start to that season. I ended up doing okay that season, but there was serious talk of one of us going and it was either me or David.

“He ended up leaving. That was the closest I ever got to leaving Old Trafford.”

He added: “I never wanted to leave. I always wanted that challenge every year and I loved playing for Manchester United.”

Giggs, who is now in charge of the Welsh national team, broke through at the Premier League club as one of the famous ‘Class of 92’ alongside the likes of Beckham, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville and went on to spend his entire career on Manchester United’s books.

The now 46-year-old made no less than 927 appearances across all competitions for the Old Trafford club, a club record number of appearances, before retiring in 2014.

During his playing career, he won 13 Premier League titles, nine Community Shields, four English League Cups, four FA Cups, two Champions League and one European Supercup, Intercontinental Cup and Club World Cup.

Inter To Use Diego Godin’s Friendship With Antoine Griezmann To Convince Barcelona Star To Accept A Move

The close relationship between Inter defender Diego Godin and Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann could well help Inter to acquire the Frenchman according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The duo spent several years together on the books at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and have such a close relationship that Godin is in fact Griezmann’s daughter Mia’s godfather.

The report goes on to claim that Inter could well try and get Godin to convince his close friend into joining the club in the coming months.

Reports in the media have suggested that Inter have an interest in signing 2018 World Cup winner Griezmann but his annual €17 million salary poses a huge obstacle to any deal being done.

This season Griezmann has made 37 appearances across all competitions for the Blaugrana club, who he is under contract with until end of the 2023/24 season. In almost 3000 minutes on the park, he has scored 14 goals and provided four assists.

Juventus Prepared To Offer Inter Federico Bernardeschi Plus Cash To Sign Mauro Icardi

Juventus could use Federico Bernadeschi as a trade chip in a deal for a player in the coming months according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Bernardeschi has found himself slide down the pecking order at the Bianconeri this season under Maurzio Sarri with him having only been limited to 1076 minutes on the field this term which have been spread across 22 appearances across all competitions to date.

He does not wish to spend another season barely playing and for this reason there is a real possibility that he could move on from the Turin based club.

Juventus will try their utmost to satisfy him and will attempt to use him as an exchange pawn. As things stand, the Bianconeri club’s management have a few clubs in mind when it comes to who they could offer the 26-year-old to.

They could send him to AC Milan as part of a deal for either Gianluigi Donnarumma or Lucas Pacqueta or Roma for Lorenzo Pellegrini or to Inter for Mauro Icardi.

PSG Join Man United & Tottenham In Race To Sign Inter Defender Diego Godin

Paris Saint Germain have joined the list of clubs interested in signing Inter defender Diego Godin according to a report from Italian news outlet passioneinter.com.

In the past few weeks Godin has been linked with a whole array of clubs, especially Premier League duo Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, due to there being serious doubts about him having a future with Inter.

Godin joined the Nerazzurri this past Summer on a free transfer after his contract with Atletico Madrid expired but has shown visible signs of struggle when playing in Conte’s 3-5-2 system which has led to suggestions he could leave in the coming months.

As per the report, Godin could be one of a number of players brought in by PSG as they look to rebuild their team with them set to let several players go on free transfers, including defenders Thiago Silva, Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa.

This season Godin has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided a single assist.

Inter Tell Barcelona Price For Lautaro Martinez: €90M In Cash Plus Arturo Vidal & Antoine Griezmann On Loan

Inter have demanded €90 million plus Arturo Vidal on a permanent basis as well as Antoine Griezmann on loan from Barcelona, in return for Lautaro Martinez according to a report aired moments ago by Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

The Blaugrana club have shown a very strong interest in signing Lautaro Martinez in recent weeks and it has been widely reported that Inter will only let the 22-year-old go if his €111 million release clause is met.

Barcelona however only want to do a player(s) plus cash deal for the Argentine national team forward and Inter have demanded the above from them if they want to do such a deal for Lautaro, who still has three years left on his current deal with the club.

Lautaro, who joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 from Superliga Argentina side Racing Club in a circa €20 million deal, has also drawn links to both Manchester City and Real Madrid in the past few weeks.

This season he has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists.

Ex-Inter Winger Moriero: “I Tried To Convince Totti To Come To Inter, It Would Be Wonderful To Work With Conte”

In an interview with journalist Nicolo Schira via Instagram, former Inter winger Francesco ‘Checco’ Moriero has spoken on a range of Inter related topics, starting with how he came to end up at the Nerazzurri in the Summer of 1997.

“At the end of May, on a Wednesday evening I went to dinner with Derby County who wanted to take me to England. After the meeting I had an appointment the following day to fly to England to sign the contract, but during the night a call from Galliani arrives. He wanted me at AC Milan so I went to Milan. I took my medical and signed for the Rossoneri.

“I went on holiday and a few weeks later Sandro Mazzola called me to go to Inter. AC Milan wanted Andre Cruz who already had an agreement with Inter so AC Milan offered Inter a list of players and Gigi Simoni chose me and I ended up at the Nerazzurri together with Ronaldo.

“For the first week though nobody understood anything as I was all over the newspapers in both AC Milan and Inter shirts.”

He then revealed how the shoe-shining celebration came about.

“During my debut at San Siro, Recoba overturned the match with an extraordinary brace. He scored two magic goals and I got on my knee and said for him to put his foot on it. I polished his shoe and it caught on.

“It was a gesture of humility and homage towards the greatness of a teammate. I didn’t score much, I preferred to set up goals but when I did score they done it to me too. I forced Diego Simeone to polish my shoe.”

Next he revealed he played a part in legendary Italian player Roberto Baggio ending up at Inter in 1998.

“I was a little cupid and brought Roberto to Inter. I was always in his room at the 1998 World Cup and I talked to him about Ronaldo, Moratti and Simoni. I spoke about them until he accepted president Moratti’s offer.”

He then went on to add that there was a time when he tried to bring Francesco Totti to Inter too.

“I knew that Francesco had some problems with Roma and I spent a long time trying to convince him to come to Inter. He thought about it, but in the end he loved Rome too much and he didn’t feel like leaving.”

Moriero then shared his views on former Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni.

“He was a great manager and a real gentleman. He knew how to handle and take care of you, he was a loyal man who said everything to your face. This was one of his biggest strengths.

“After he was sacked we all went to the club management to try get them to change their mind but there was nothing we could do. Years later I think Moratti regretted sacking him.”

He then spoke on what it felt like to win the UEFA Cup with Inter in 1998.

“We felt very strong, we were sure about winning. We came up against a very strong Lazio but it was no contest. We won 3-0 and we celebrated all night.”

Next Moriero spoke about Marcello Lippi’s time in charge as manager.

“There was Ronaldo, Baggio, Zamorano, Recoba and Bobo Vieri. I think it was the strongest attack of all time. It is too bad that due to injuries and various problems they could not play so much together otherwise we would have won a lot.

“With Lippi it started well and after we lost the derby he decided to not play me any more. I was not part of his plans so I accepted a move to Napoli.”

Moriero then discussed former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti.

“He is a fantastic person. We always wanted to win especially for him. He called us every Monday to comment on the game. On Saturday he came to Appiano to stimulate us. He always gave us incredible speeches to push us to win except for the derby because he considered the game against Milan the easiest game.”

Moriero penultimately spoke on former teammate Taribo West.

“Taribo was a crazy madman and had all sorts of colours in his hair. Before each game he would bless Ronaldo. I remember one Monday he fought with Lippi in front of everyone and said that God had told him he had to play for Inter and Lippi replied that God had said nothing to him.”

In conclusion he was asked if he would like to one day be a coach at Inter.

“I love working with young people and I would like it, I won’t even deny it. It would be wonderful to work side by side with Antonio Conte at Appiano Gentile.”

Barcelona, Real Madrid & Man City All Interested In €80M Rated Inter Defender Milan Skriniar

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all sparked an interest in signing Inter centre back Milan Skriniar ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window, according to a report in today’s print edition of Il Giorno

The Slovakian national team defender has proven to be one of Serie A’s best defenders in the past few seasons and the report claims that a possible exit cannot be excluded.

IFAB Considering Imposing Series Of Extraordinary Measures If Football Season Resumes

Football rule makers, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), are weighing up a series of extraordinary measures that could be brought in if the currently on hold season is to resume according to a report in today’s print edition of Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Football almost everywhere across the globe has been put on hold due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains to be seen if the season will resume at all.

If it does indeed resume, a number of extraordinary temporary measures could be introduced to help limit fatigue and injuries etc.

One measure being mulled over by IFAB is the possibility of teams being allowed to make a total of five substitutions during a match, opposed to the current three substitutions.

Other measures being considered by IFAB include water breaks being introduced into games. There would be two water breaks per game with one taking place in each half.

Spanish Report Claims Inter Are In Negotiations With Barcelona For Arturo Vidal

Inter are in talks with Barcelona to sign Arturo Vidal in the upcoming transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

Barcelona would like to include the Chilean national team midfielder as part of a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez but Inter would like to conduct a separate deal for the 32-year-old.

Vidal’s contract with the Blaugrana is due to expire at the end of next season and for this reason he will be sold in the Summer.

Inter have been interested in signing the former Bayern Munich midfielder for a number of years now and tried to land him in January but Barcelona blocked a move but things could be different in the Summer.

As per the report, Inter are willing to offer Vidal a three year deal with a good salary but need Barcelona to drop their €20 million demands for him.

This season Vidal has made 31 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored six goals and provided three assists.
