Former Inter Goalkeeper Bordon: “Handanovic Can Guarantee Inter 2 Or 3 More Years At A High Level”

Legendary Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon has shared his belief that current Inter number one Samir Handanovic can still perform at a top level for Inter for a few more years.

The 35-year-old Slovenian has been with the club since the Summer of 2012 and has been virtually ever present since.

His contract with the club is due to expire at the end of next season although multiple reports have suggested that Inter are working to extend his contract with the club by at least another season.

“Handanovic can still guarantee Inter another two or three years at a high level. Since he has worn the captain’s armband he has also made a noticeable leap in terms of safety and personality. He has become even more responsible,” Bordon remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

With Handanovic now getting on a bit, there has been no shortage of reports speculating about his potential successor at the Nerazzurri and Bordon has suggested Inter could promote from within with Ionut Andrei Radu.

“Inter can focus on Radu who has very good qualities. Perhaps by making him Samir’s assistant for a while he can learn precious things. Inter should aim to have two strong goalkeepers.”

Bordon, who spent 13 years on Inter’s books between the years 1970 and 1983 and also spent some time as a coach, then spoke on current Inter manager Antonio Conte.

“Conte’s Inter had a very good season until it stopped. Inter remain behind Juventus but with two or three signings they can become even stronger.

“Conte perhaps wanted Vidal but in any case he transmitted a mentality and a way of experiencing games that is incredible. Inter are on the right path and the work he had done is excellent, even for the future.”

Roma Defender Spinazzola: “I Changed After The Move To Inter Collapsed”

Roma defender Leonardo Spinazzola has revealed that his failed move to Inter in the past few months has changed him from a psychological point of view.

Spinazzola looked set to join Inter as part of a swap deal that would have sent Matteo Politano in the opposite direction but the move collapsed right at the very end.

The clubs had a deal in place and the two players underwent medicals with their prospective new employers but after the medical Inter attempted to change the terms of the deal much to the annoyance of Roma and the deal collapsed.

“Since that week I have changed mentally. After that week I found myself,” Spinazzola remarked as part of a question and answer session which was hold on the official Instagram profile of Roma earlier on today.

The 27-year-old, who is under contract with Roma until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 1400 minutes on the park, he has scored one goal and provided two assists.

Inter May Go Back In For Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey If He Doesn’t Sign Contract Extension

Inter could possibly go back in for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey according to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Inter had shown an interest in the Ghanaian around this time last year and did have some talks with the Spanish club but no move came to fruition.

Atleti would like to keep the midfielder at the club and are keen to tie him down to a new and improved contract with an increased release clause amid interest from Roma, Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, if they are unable to reach an agreement over a new contract, Inter could possibly come back in for him, the report suggests.

The 26-year-old, who is currently under contract with the Rojiblancos until the end of the 2022/23 season, has been virtually ever present for them this term.

He has made 35 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided a single assist.

Inter Could Send Alexis Sanchez Back To Man Utd & Replace Him With Sebastian Giovinco This Summer

Inter could bring in Sebastian Giovinco to fill the void that Alexis Sanchez will leave according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Sanchez is currently on loan at Inter from Manchester United and is almost certain to return to the Premier League outfit at the end of the season.

With Sanchez set to depart, Inter will need to bring another player capable of being a back-up choice and Giovinco could be that player.

The 33-year-old is currently on the books of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal and could be brought in relatively cheap and would not have that high wages either with the report stating his wages could be around €2 million, which is over half of what the club are currently paying Sanchez.

This season Giovinco has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 1700 minutes on the park, he has scored six goals and has provided eight assists for his teammates.

Former Inter Transfer Target Edin Dzeko: “I Made The Right Choice To Stay At Roma”

Roma striker Edin Dzeko has insisted that he feels he made the right choice to remain with the Giallorossi this past Summer.

Near the end of last season and during the Summer transfer window he drew extremely strong links to Inter with it understood that Inter manager Antonio Conte really wanted him.

Dzeko however grew tired of waiting around for the Nerazzurri and in the end he opted to sign a contract extension with Roma until the end of the 2021/22 season.

“I made the right choice to stay and it was not difficult. I am now even more proud to be part of this club which in difficult moments does the important things for all its fans and for people who need a hand,” the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team player remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

As part of the interview, Dzeko also expressed his views regarding the possible resumption of the 2019/20 Serie A season at the end of May or start of June.

“It is a very delicate issue. The most important thing is people’s health. We all love sport and it is part of our lives and when there is no more danger I think it is right to finish the season.”

This season the 34-year-old has made 32 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored 15 goals and provided nine assists for his teammates.

FIFA President Infantino: “It’d Be More Than Irresponsible To Resume Playing If The Situation Is Not 100% Safe”

Gianni Infantino, the president of world football’s governing body FIFA, has insisted that health must come first during this difficult times.

Football across the planet is on hold due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains a complete mystery as to whether or not seasons will even be able to resume.

Despite the great uncertainty, leagues are trying to work out possible schedules for if the season does resume whilst some have opted to just cancel their seasons now to avoid jeopardising next season.

“As our main priority, our principles, the ones we employ in our competitions and also we invite to everyone to follow, is health comes first,” he began an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

He then went on to insist that it would be irresponsible to resume competitions when it is not safe to do so and that FIFA are more than happy to wait longer if needs must.

“As much as I emphasise it, it is not enough. It’s not worth to put at risk any human life for any game, any competition, nor any league. Everyone should have this clear in their minds.

“It would be more than irresponsible to restart the competitions if the situation is not 100% safe. If we must wait a bit more time, we must do it. It is better to wait a bit more than taking risks. We will listen carefully to health authorities, experts and work alongside them.”

Infantino also discussed three challenges that FIFA are currently facing with regard to the resumption of the football season.

“If football manages to set up a discussion in which everyone takes into account global interest, the future will be better than the past, now we focus on three areas.

“We have looked at the challenges of the international calendar and I am aware of the need to defend football of the national teams. We also need to understand how to protect club football as the engine of our game.

“We are also looking at player contracts and transfer periods, showing flexibility and common sense for the future. When everything is safe and under control, we will get back to playing.”

Former Inter Defender Roberto Carlos: “Roy Hodgson Destroyed Me At Inter”

Former Inter defender Roberto Carlos has hit out at former Inter manager Roy Hodgson for his decision to play him as a central midfielder and admits that it was due to Hodgson that he left Inter.

“Roy Hodgson destroyed me. He made me play in the centre of midfield. I wasn’t going to get a chance to play for Brazil like that and there was a Copa America in 1997,” the legendary full back admitted in an interview with Spanish news outlet Marca.

“It’s not that we got on badly, it’s that he didn’t know much about football. I spoke with Moratti and I asked him to leave.

“I went to Real Madrid for Fabio Capello, he was the most important coach in my life.”

Roberto Carlos joined Inter in the Summer of 1995 from Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Palmeiras but spent just a single season with Inter before joining Real Madrid, where he went on to become perhaps the greatest left back in the world.

The now 47-year-old made just 34 appearances across all competitions to date for Inter in which he scored seven goals.

After a decade with Real Madrid, he left for Fenerbahce and spent two years there and also played with Corinthians, Anzhi Makhachkala and Delhi Dynamos before retiring in 2015.

Since retiring he has went into management and has managed Sivasspor, Akhisar Belediyespor and Delhi Dynamos but has not managed since 2015.

CONI President Malago: “Teams Will Be Blocked From Training Until At Least April 27”

Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), has confirmed that current restrictions prohibiting teams from training are set to be extended.

Due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic, football at all levels in Italy has been on hold for about a month now and teams have also been unable to train since then due to government restrictions.

Malago has confirmed that the current restrictions are likely to be extended until the end of this month if not perhaps even the start of next month.

“I am constantly in contact with Minister Spadafora. I suppose, and I believe I am not mistaken, that the decree in preparation by the government confirms the blocking of training,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Radio earlier on today.

“Until when? At least until April 27 or perhaps until the weekend of May 1.”

Numerous reports in the media in the past few days have suggested that teams could well return to training starting May 4.

Other reports have meanwhile suggested that the season could resume at the end of May or the beginning of June but it remains completely unknown if the season will even resume.

Inter Linked Philippe Coutinho’s Agent: “Everything Is A Possibility”

Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has refused to rule anything out when it comes to the future of his client.

The Brazilian national team player is currently out on loan at Bundesliga club Bayern Munich and reports have suggested they do not wish to take up the option to buy that they have for him and this has led to several other clubs being linked with him.

Inter have been linked with making a move for Coutinho as have a host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton.

“I don’t have any preference where the players go. I don’t try to push someone to one club or another. Everything is a possibility,” Joorabchian remarked in an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sport earlier on today.

“The question is what are going to be the financial conditions of all the clubs, including Barcelona and all the Premier League clubs at the end of this pandemic.”

27-year-old Coutinho, who has a contract with Barcelona until 2023, has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

In little over 2000 minutes on the field, he has scored nine goals and has also provided eight assists for his teammates at the Bavaria based club.
