Chelsea Ready To Go Against Contract Extension Policy To Keep Inter Linked Giroud At The Club

Chelsea are ready to go against their policy when it comes to giving players over 30-years-old long term contracts to keep Olivier Giroud with the club according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Premier League club have traditionally only ever given one year contract extensions to players over 30-years-old but look set to change that when it comes to 2018 World Cup winner Giroud.

Talks are already underway between the parties regarding a new contract and it now remains to be seen if an agreement can be struck.

Giroud has drawn strong links to a number of other clubs due to the fact his current contract is due to expire in the coming months including Inter, who have reportedly tabled him a contract offer.

This season the 33-year-old, who has been with Chelsea since January 2018, has made 13 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored three goals.

Inter Goalkeeper Padelli: “Replacing Handanovic Is Tough As He’s Maybe The Best Keeper In Europe Right Now”

Inter goalkeeper Daniele Padelli became the latest Inter player to take part in a live question and answer session on Inter’s social media channels earlier today and he firstly spoke on how he is dealing with the current situation.

“We hope to get out of this situation as soon as possible, I’m at home with my wife and children, and I’m taking the opportunity to enjoy being with them, but I’m aware that this is a tragic moment for Italy and the world and my thoughts go out to those who are suffering right now. The only way to get through this is to stay at home and respect the rules.”

Padelli then went on to discuss his recent spell in between the sticks which came when current number one Samir Handanovic sustained a hand injury.

“Replacing Samir is really tough, because he’s not just anybody, but maybe the best ‘keeper in Europe right now. Doing it fills me with pride but of course there’s also a lot of pressure, because you have to try to live up to him and it’s an arduous task.”

He then discussed some of the things he has experienced during his two and a half years with Inter following his arrival on a free transfer in the Summer of 2017.

“I’ve experienced a lot of emotions at Inter, even from the bench, such as the match against Lazio that meant we returned to the Champions League.

“Then, there are also the emotions I’ve experience on the pitch, even in this recent period, such as the Derby. I’d already played that game seven or eight times in my head, and it wasn’t easy but at the end there was an outburst of joy.

“These are the moments that I’ll remember forever, because this has always been my dream. Wearing the Inter shirt fills me with pride, as well as my family, because of all the sacrifices we’ve made.”

The Italian shot-stopper went on to reveal that he is a lifelong Inter fan and discussed when he started to become a goalkeeper.

“I was born and raised in an Inter family, my friends also support Inter, so I’ve always been a Nerazzurri fan. I started playing football aged seven, first I tried other sports like basketball and karate, but I chose football.

“At the beginning I didn’t play in goal, I did that when I was 13, and until I was 16 I played in the age-group national teams, which is also what makes me proud. Being a goalkeeper is different, you’re the last man, nobody can help you and if you make a mistake it will lead to a goal, so you have to have a lot of resilience, especially after mistakes.

“You have to get up immediately and start making saves again. Before you take to the pitch, there’s a mixture of excitement and tension, it’s a special feeling that makes you feel alive. Then, from the warm-up you focus on the match.”

He then briefly touched upon some of the players who he looked up to as a youngster.

“My childhood idols? Ever since I was a child, my dream has been to be a footballer. My childhood idols, being an Inter fan, were all the Nerazzurri ‘keepers: Pagliuca, Toldo, Frey, Julio Cesar, Zenga, all of them.”

In conclusion he discussed the relationships which he has with several players on the team.

“Ranocchia and Berni are two wonderful people, our friendship is amazing, there’s a special bond between us.

“Handanovic makes things seem simple that in reality are not. You can see the way in which and how much he trains. His precision and the attention to detail makes you understand a lot.

“He is always thorough and is never satisfied with his talent, so he works to improve even the smallest aspects; he’s a top professional and has all my admiration.

“The most irritable on the team? There are a few actually, but it’s a good thing because when you get angry it’s even more fun to joke about it. If I had to name someone it would be D’Ambrosio, then maybe me.”

Inter Owned Lazaro: “I’m Not Worrying About My Future, I Have To Decide What’s Right For Me”

Inter owned Valentino Lazaro has admitted he is not currently thinking about his future at the moment in an interview with Austrian news outlet Sport.oe24.at.

The Austrian national team player joined Inter this past Summer in a circa €20 million deal from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin but having struggled to cement a place in the Inter team in the first half of the season he was shipped out on loan to Newcastle United, who have the option to buy him permanently at the end of the season.

“I am not worrying about this at the moment. My main objective was to return to playing regularly, that’s why I took this step and moved to England.

“Regardless of the fact that this option exists, there are several factors that contribute to the decision. So I also have to decide and clarify what I want and what is right for me.”

He then went on to admit that he is continuing to learn Italian whilst football across the planet is on hold due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

“I am learning independently, it’s always nice to learn something new for your life. You can expand your horizons.”

The 23-year-old also admitted that he remains in touch with many of his Inter teammates and shared his hopes to see Italy recover from this difficult situation as soon as possible.

“I am still in contact with some players, in particular with my friend Romelu Lukaku. Unfortunately, at the moment, Milan is experiencing a very bad situation. Inter players are all at home. There are many deaths in Italy every day, one can only hope that the whole country will recover as soon as possible.”

This season he has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored one goal and tallied one assist.

Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez’s Agent: “We’re Not Talking About A Transfer Elsewhere Or His Contract With Inter, He Is Fine Where He Is”

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s agent Beto Yaque has revealed that he has had some talks with other clubs about his client amid ongoing rumours linking him with several clubs.

“With Lautaro we are not talking about a transfer to another club or his contract with Inter,” he remarked in an interview with Argentine radio station show 947 FM Radio earlier on today.

“I was with him in Europe just before all the rumours about Barcelona exploded. Many people from Spain, Italy and England called me. We read and hear the rumours but we don’t know anything about his future.”

Yaque did however go on to insist that Lautaro is happy where he is and refused to rule out that he had spoken with other clubs but there is nothing formal for the time being.

“He is fine where he is, he just wants to play and score. We talk to various people from some clubs, we met out of respect and to get to know each other, but nothing formal.”

Many reports have spoken on the possible partnership that Lautaro could form with Lionel Messi at Barcelona and Yaque was asked if his client would like to play alongside Messi.

“Who wouldn’t like to play together with him? It was a dream for Lautaro to play alongside him at the Copa America.

Yaque then went on to discuss when he first came to know Lautaro and revealed he that he knew his client was going to become a top player even all those years ago.

“I met him when he was practically a child, he was 15-years-old and he played in Bahia Blanca. It took me little time to understand that he could become a great player.

“He made impressive movements and had great ball control. Now it is easy to talk, but he was already impressive at the time. Several teams wanted him, I spoke on the phone with his father and I spent a week with them. In the end he chose to go to Racing.”

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored 16 goals and provided four assists.

Chelsea Start Talks With Inter Target Giroud Over Contract Extension

Chelsea have started talks with Olivier Giroud about possibly extending his contract and remaining with the club according to a report from British news outlet The Daily Mirror.

Giroud’s current contract with the Premier League outfit is due to expire at the end of the current season and he appeared set to leave the club on a free until now.

Chelsea typically only offer one year contract extensions to players over the age of 30 but the report warns that this may not be enough to entice Giroud to stick around given the amount of interest in him from elsewhere.

The report claims 33-year-old Giroud had in fact agreed a two and a half year deal with Inter back in January before Chelsea pulled the plug on the move and it is understood that he has a similar offer still on the table from Inter to join them in the Summer.
