Romelu Lukaku: “When The Opportunity Came To Go To Italy, I Only Thought About Inter”

In a live chat with legendary Inter striker Adriano, current Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has shared his hopes to emulate what the Brazilian did at the club.

“This is a dream come true for me. He was my idol as a child and did great things for both Inter and Brazil. Imagine if we got to play together, we’d score 70 goals per season! I’d love to follow your footsteps here at Inter,” Lukaku started the chat which was broadcast on Inter’s official Instagram profile this evening.

Lukaku, who joined Inter in a club record €65 million deal this past Summer, then went on to speak about his arrival at the club and admitted that he had thought about playing for Inter for a long long time.

“When the opportunity came to go to Italy, I only thought about Inter. I was in love with the team that won all those Cups with its great strikers. The first week was complicated, because Serie A is very tactical, so I had to get to know the movements.

“I wanted to go to Inter after England, as I was curious to experience the football here. The first European Final I saw was the 1998 UEFA Cup, that incredible Ronaldo performance… I always thought, if I had to go to Italy, I’d play for Inter.

“After the situation I had in England, it was important for me to join a club that would help support me. I am happy here and so is my family.”

In conclusion he spoke on what he remembers from his first time he represented Inter at San Siro.

“I first looked up at my family in the stands, then the fans, only later at the pitch.”

Lukaku has had a stellar first season with the Nerazzurri, who he is under contract with until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 27-year-old Belgian national team forward has been virtually ever present having made 35 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 23 goals and tallied five assists.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi Plays Down Inter Links: “This Is Fake News”

Lionel Messi has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to hit out at recent reports suggesting he could be set to leave Barcelona.

In the past few days Messi has been linked with moves to Inter and Newell’s Old Boys but he has called the reports fake news in a recently published Instagram story.

Argentine broadcaster TNT Sports reported that Inter were set to bring in Thiago Almada and Messi in the coming months but the multi-time world player of the year has denied the rumours currently circulating in the media of many countries.

“This is fake news and the same is true for the media reports about Newell’s. Both are false. Fortunately nobody believes them,” he posted.

The 32-year-old is currently under contract with Barcelona, who he has spent his entire career with, until the end of next season but other reports in the media have suggested that he could soon extend his deal with the Nou Camp club until 2023.

This season he has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 24 goals and provided 16 assists for teammates.

Ex-Barcelona & AC Milan Sporting Director Braida: “Messi To Inter Talk Is Pure Utopia, Inter Mustn’t Let Lautaro Martinez Go”

Former Barcelona and AC Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida has dismissed reports which have suggested that Lionel Messi could be headed to Inter in the future.

In the past few days there have been a lot of reports suggesting that the multi-time world player of the year could join the Nerazzurri if he decides to leave Barcelona, where he has spent his entire career, but Braida believes it is sheer fantasy talk.

“I find it hard to imagine him going away from Barcelona. At Barcelona he is the undisputed king, he arrived as a kid and everyone loves him. In my opinion, such talk is pure utopia,” he remarked in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

“In football you can never say never however I cannot find a reason for a possible farewell. He is a wonderful person and earns a very important sum of money. He and Barcelona are perfect together.”

Braida then went on to comment on the continued links between Barcelona and Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and insisted that Inter cannot let the highly rated 22-year-old go.

The Argentine national team forward is seemingly one of Barcelona’s top transfer targets for the Summer but Braida believes that Inter should not give in to any offer that may arrive from the reigning Spanish champions who are said to be willing to offer a considerable cash sum plus a few players.

“If Inter wants to win, they must absolutely not deprive themselves of him. Lautaro is a complete striker and very strong. They absolutely need to keep him.

“He is very young and represents the future. If Inter want to aim for the top, and therefore to raise some trophies, they must build the team starting from him.”

Argentine Journalist Castilla: “Inter Are Favourites To Sign Messi If He Leaves Barcelona”

Argentine broadcaster TNT Sports journalist Martin Castilla has shared his belief that Inter are the club most likely to sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi in the event that he looks to leave his current employers.

In the past few days there have been no shortage of links linking the multi-time world player of the year with Inter with Castilla himself even claiming Messi is Inter bound alongside Velez Sarsfield wonderkid Thiago Almada.

“The relationship between Messi and the Barcelona leadership is at an all-time low. Juventus and Newell’s Old Boys are also in for Messi but Inter are big favourites to sign him if he leaves Barcelona,” Castilla remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster SportItalia earlier on today.

“This has existed since Moratti’s days in charge of Inter. The former Inter owner wanted to bring Messi to Milan at a young age.”

Messi is under contract with the Blaugrana, where he has spent his entire career, until the end of next season and it has been widely reported that he has a clause which allows himself to go free from the club.

This season the 32-year-old superstar has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 24 goals and provided a total of 16 assists for his teammtes.

Fiorentina President Commisso Reluctant To Deal With Juventus For Inter Target Castrovilli

Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso is not keen on doing business with Juventus over midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Bianconeri have seemingly identified Castrovilli as a target ahead of the Summer transfer window but Commisso is likely to be the biggest obstacle to negotiations taking place and a deal being reached.

Commisso does not want to negotiate with the reigning Italian champions unless it really conveniences him and the Viola given how important Castrovilli has become.

Juventus could well try tempt Commisso into dealing Castrovilli by offering Rolando Mandragora as part of any potential deal.

With Commisso reluctant to deal with Juventus, this will no doubt come as a boost to Inter’s hopes of being able to land 23-year-old Castrovilli.

This season the Italian national team midfielder has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored three goals and provided two assists.

Inter Might Not Honor Verbal Agreement To Buy Vanheusden Back From Standard Liege

Inter may not re-sign Zinho Vanheusden from Standard Liege due to there not being a written agreement in place for them to do so according to a report from Sport/Foot Magazine.

The Belgian Pro League side signed the highly rated young defender for €11.7 million this past Summer and there is a verbal agreement in place with Inter for them to re-sign him for a sum of €15 million.

Standard Liege find themselves in a particularly tricky situation at the moment with the Belgian FA refusing to give them a licence to play next season due to poor financial management in recent seasons and not getting €15 million from Inter for Vanheusden would be another big blow to them.

However, the report does go on to state that they could take the case to the court of arbitration for sport.

This season the 20-year-old centre back has made 28 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals.

Inter Want To Sign Udinese’s Musso To Act As Back-Up For Captain Handanovic

Inter have set their sights on bringing in Juan Musso as Samir Handanovic’s deputy according to a report from the online edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

For a few months now Inter have been on the look out for a goalkeeper capable of initially serving as Handanovic’s back-up before eventually succeeding him and having considered several players, Inter are now set on the idea of bringing Musso to the club.

The Argentine shot-stopper has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italy since his arrival at Udinese back in the Summer of 2018 and reports in the media have suggested that Udinese want in the region of €30 million for him.

The report states that Inter face competition from city rivals AC Milan for his signature with it understood that the Rossoneri have identified him as a replacement for Gianluigi Donnarumma if he leaves.

This season Musso has made 27 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has kept nine clean sheets.

Sebastian Giovinco Wants Serie A Return & Has Sights On Reuniting With Antonio Conte At Inter

Sebastian Giovinco wants to return to Italy and would like to once again work with Antonio Conte according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The diminutive forward is currently on the books of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal but has far from hidden his desire to return to his homeland recently.

Inter could well grant him that opportunity and he could come in and be the back-up to Lautaro Martinez, even if for the time being Inter seem to be focusing on other names for the attack such as Dries Mertens and Olivier Giroud.

Both Mertens and Giroud can also be acquired on free transfers unlike Giovinco who is under contract with Al Hilal until December 31 2021.

The report goes on to state that Parma are also interested and Inter and Parma could well work in synergy to bring him back to Italy, just like they did with Matteo Darmian this past Summer, who is widely expected to join Inter this Summer.
