Inter Linked Giroud Thinking About Possibly Staying With Chelsea

Olivier Giroud is pondering whether to stay with Chelsea or not according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The experienced French national team striker is out of contract with the Premier League outfit come the end of this season but is thinking about possibly remaining with the Blues for at least another year.

Due to his expiring contract status, he has drawn links to a number of clubs, especially both Inter and Lazio, who showed a keen interest in him back in the January transfer window and continue to do so.

The 33-year-old forward has seen his playing time reduced this season due to the emergence of several young players at Chelsea and has been limited to just 684 minutes on the field which have been spread across 13 appearances across all competitions to date.

The 2018 World Cup winner has scored three goals but has been unable to provide any assists for teammates.

Inter & Juventus To Battle For Fiorentina Winger Federico Chiesa

Inter and Juventus are to battle it out for the signing of Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa according to a report from Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

The two arch rivals have been long term admirers of the attacker who is widely regarded as one of the most promising Italian prospects out there at the moment.

As per the report, Fiorentina president and owner Rocco Commisso made a pact with Chiesa for him to stay for at least another season – which he has now done – and Chiesa is expecting the club to be a lot more open with regard to a possible sale.

Chiesa will cost any interested club no less than €70 million and the report goes on to add that both Inter and Juventus hope to be able to bring the price down by offering some players as part of any deal.

This season Chiesa has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 2100 minutes on the park, he has scored seven goals and provided five assists.

PSG Want To Keep A Hold Of Inter Striker Mauro Icardi

French broadcaster RMC Sport have reported that Paris Saint Germain are wanting to take up the option they have to sign on loan striker Mauro Icardi on a permanent basis at the end of the current season.

Icardi joined them on a season long loan this past Summer from Inter and the reigning French champions can sign him up on a permanent basis for €70 million.

PSG sporting director Leonardo has in fact already held talks with Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara over the permanent switch.

The report goes on to conclude that Inter’s arch rivals Juventus are continuing to keep an eye on the situation and could move if PSG do not keep a hold of Icardi.

The 27-year-old former Sampdoria striker has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date for PSG. In close to 2000 minutes, he has scored 20 goals and has provided four assists for his teammates in the French capital.

Inter Readying Themselves For Any Possible Scenario That Could Arise With Lautaro Martinez Amid Continued Barcelona Links

Inter are in no hurry to let Lautaro Martinez go but are readying themselves for any possible scenario that could arise according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the upcoming Summer transfer window with it understood that Barcelona see him as one of their top transfer targets.

Lautaro has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter and it has been widely reported that Barcelona want to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.

Inter have no intention of letting him go unless this clause is met and therefore Barcelona will have to raise the funds to land him.

Barcelona could sell either Antoine Griezmann or Philippe Coutinho to have the funds available to activate Lautaro’s release clause.

Inter are adamant they want his release clause paid as it will give them funds to go out and sign his replacement with the report stating that Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the management’s current favourite.

UEFA Could Change Financial Fair Play System Due To Coronavirus

European football’s governing body UEFA are weighing up possible modification to the current Financial Fair Play system according to a report from The New York Times.

UEFA are considering possible changes that could be made to the system due to the financial damage that Coronavirus has had on football clubs in Europe.

As things stand, club owners are unable to just freely invest cash into the team due to the rules in place which prevent clubs competing in the Champions League and Europa League from spending more than they earn.

The report goes on to state that club owners may need to invest large sums of cash due to the current situation and in the coming weeks a proposal on how Financial Fair Play could be changed could be presented by one of the working groups set up by UEFA.

It also goes on to state that UEFA are continuing to explore ways in which the season could possibly resume. As things stand, nearly every European league is on hold due to Coronavirus and it remains to be seen whether or not the season will be able to resume.

Alexis Sanchez Would Prefer To Stay At Inter But Is Reluctant To Reduce Wages

Alexis Sanchez’s preference would be to remain with Inter according to a report from British news outlet The Evening Standard.

The Chilean national team attacker joined Inter on a season long loan from Manchester United but a permanent switch to Inter looks unlikely with him having failed to live up to expectations.

The former Barcelona player’s astronomical annual salary makes it particularly difficult for United when it comes to trying to offload him and Sanchez is not helping with the report stating he is reluctant to take a pay cut to secure a move elsewhere.

The report goes on to claim that another loan move, where they pay a large chunk of his wages, could be the best solution if they do not find a buyer or they could attempt to buy him out of his contract.

Whilst on loan at Inter, Sanchez has made 15 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored one goal and provided three assists for his teammates.
