Inter Target Federico Chiesa: “I Have Already Played In A 3-5-2 System”

Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa has shared his belief that he could still make a big impact even if he was to play as a wing back in a 3-5-2 system.

“This year I have played more as a second striker as that is where the coach wants me to play, but I will play wherever he wants. Even in a hypothetical 3-5-2 I could help my team to the fullest,” the young winger revealed as part of an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia late last night.

“Under Sousa and Pioli I improved defensively because I played everywhere, including at right wing back.”

Chiesa is widely regarded as one of the best up and coming Italian talents and he has long been linked with a move to Inter, who currently play a 3-5-2 system.

Inter’s arch rivals Juventus are also reportedly keen on signing him and he has also drawn links to a number of other top clubs such as Premier League outfit Manchester United and reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.

The 22-year-old, who is under contract with Fiorentina until 2022, has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date this season. In just over 2100 minutes on the field, Chiesa has scored seven goals and provided five assists for his Viola teammates.

Karagounis: “I Had Many Special Moments At Inter, It’s Been A Good Season For Inter”

In an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Giorgos Karagounis has reminisced about his spell with Inter in the early to mid 2000s.

“I have many friends in Milan and I remember with pleasure those two years at Inter in which we won an Italian Cup. I had many special moments at Inter and it’s always nice when I get to come back,” he explained.

Karagounis then went on to share his views about the modern day Inter and shared his belief that Inter are not out of the race for the Serie A title quite yet despite trailing first placed Juventus by nine points.

“I liked what Inter showed this year, they have almost always played good and can still fight for the Scudetto. For now it has been a good season.”

The EURO 2004 winner then went on to discuss the deadly strike partnership that Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have formed with one another this season.

The Belgian and the Argentine have combined for 39 goals between them this term and they have also struck up a close relationship off of the pitch.

“They have shown that they have a good understanding but the whole team has done well and has done a good job.”

Karagounis joined Inter from Greek giants Panathinaikos and made a total of 36 appearances for the Nerazzurri, in which he provided three assists for his teammates. He moved on to Benfica in 2005, returned to Panathinaikos in 2007 until 2012 when he joined Fulham where he would retire two years later.

Inter Legend Beccalossi: “I Didn’t Even Look At The Money Inter Offered Me When They Offered Me A Contract”

In an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport, legendary Inter midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi has recalled the time former Inter manager Eugenio Bersellini forced him to stay at Inter’s training ground for 10 days.

“Bersellini is the one who controlled me most of all. He is also the one who punished me the most but together we won a fantastic Scudetto,” he explained in the interview which appeared in today’s print edition of the newspaper.

“I remember the time he locked me up for 10 days in Appiano. I was there with the fitness coach and one night, at two in the morning, hungry like never before, I silently slipped into the kitchen.

“The time came for me to open the fridge and a flashlight lit up and I had a gun pointed at me. It was the security guard who thought I was a thief.”

He then went on to reveal that he paid zero attention to the sum of money on the contract Inter offered him.

“When they put the contract in front of me, I didn’t even look at the amount that was written on it. My attention was all on the letterhead, which had Inter on it.”

Beccalossi joined Inter in the Summer of 1978 from Brescia and would spend six years with the club before departing for Sampdoria. He made a total of 215 appearances across all competitions for the club in which he scored 37 goals.

During his time with Inter he won the Serie A title in the 1979/80 season and also won the Coppa Italia in the 1981/82 season.

After playing for Sampdoria, he went on to play for Monza, Brescia, Barletta, Pordenone and Breno before retiring and becoming a pundit.

FIFA Open To Changing Dates Of Summer Transfer Window

World football’s governing body FIFA are willing to agree to change the dates of the Summer transfer market due to the Coronavirus pandemic according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

As per the report, the traditional Summer transfer window could begin in mid-August to the end of November or from the beginning of September to just before Christmas.

It is widely expected that spending in the upcoming window, whenever it will be, will be reduced compared to the traditional Summer transfer window due to the huge financial damage that the Coronavirus crisis has had on football.

A number of people in the media have suggested that as a result there could be an increase in swap deals between clubs so they can save cash and try and recover from the financial damage.

If the Summer window is moved to either of the above, it remains to be seen what it would mean for the January transfer window.

Javier Saviola: “Inter’s Lautaro Martinez Is Perfect For Barcelona”

Former Barcelona and Argentine national team striker Javier Saviola has sang the praises of compatriot Lautaro Martinez and thinks he would perfectly fit in at Barcelona.

Lautaro has been strongly linked to the reigning Spanish champions for a number of weeks and months now with reports suggesting Barcelona are keen to do a player(s) plus cash deal for him.

The 22-year-old has a €111 million release clause in his current contract with Inter and the reports have suggested Barcelona could offer €70-80 million plus one or two players.

Other reports have meanwhile suggested Inter have no interest in letting Lautaro go in such a deal and will only let him go if his release clause is triggered.

“Lautaro is one of the best strikers today. I really like him,” Saviola, who played for Barcelona for six years between 2001 and 2007, explained in an interview with Spanish news outlet AS.

“He would fit perfectly at Barca due to his quality. The first time I saw him I knew he was a footballer capable of playing for a big club. I see him as perfect for the frontline of Barca.”

This season Lautaro has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions, in which he has also provided four assists for his teammates.
