Inter & Napoli To Battle It Out Over Tottenham’s Vertonghen

Inter and Napoli are competing for two players ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Both clubs are looking to bolster their defensive departments in the coming months and they have both identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen and Olympiacos’ Kostas Tsimikas as transfer targets.

Belgian national team defender Vertonghen’s contract with Spurs is due to expire at the end of the current season thus meaning he could be acquired on a free transfer and it will likely come down to who offers him the most money.

As for Tsimikas, Napoli are already ahead of Inter in the race to sign him, the report goes on to explain. They have made an offer but Olympiacos are continuing to demand €15 million for the full back, a sum of that Napoli deem to be too expensive for the 23-year-old.

Real Madrid Withdraw From Race To Sign Inter’s Lautaro Martinez

Real Madrid have withdrawn themselves from the race to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Spanish newspaper El Espanol.

In order to be able to sign the 22-year-old Argentine striker, Real Madrid would have to free up a non-EU player registration slot but as per this report, Real Madrid have zero intention of letting any of their currently registered non-EU players in Eder Militao, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo go.

With Real Madrid pulling out of the race, it leaves Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea in for the former Racing Club player.

Lautaro joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 and is under contract with the club until 2023 and as part of the contract he has a €111 million release clause. It has been reported by a few outlets that Inter will only let him go if that clause is met.

Inter & Barcelona Aren’t Currently In Negotiations Over Lautaro Martinez

There are currently no negotiations between Inter and Barcelona regarding Lautaro Martinez according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Reports in the media have suggested Lautaro has already got an agreement with Barcelona over personal terms and the two clubs have an agreement over players to be included in the deal but Sport Mediaset insist that this is not the case.

The report goes on to explain that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and club president Steven Zhang have no intention of letting the highly rated 22-year-old go.

The only way that Lautaro will be able to leave the club this Summer is if the €111 million release clause in his current contract with the club is met.

Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date this season. In just over 2400 minutes on the field, he has scored 16 goals and he has also provided four assists for his teammates.

Inter Owned Icardi Could Replace Gonzalo Higuain At Juventus

Mauro Icardi is among a list of players who could potentially replace Gonzalo Higuain at Juventus according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Inter owned striker is currently out on loan at reigning French champions and he has reportedly told them he is not interested in a permanent stay in the French capital and wants to return to Italy.

The report from Tuttosport explains that Higuain is mulling over a possible return to his native Argentina to re-join River Plate, the team he started his playing career with.

If he is to depart, Juventus would save €15 million in gross salary, money which they would use to entice a replacement to the Allianz Stadium.

Icardi aside, the report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus are all other possible options to replace Higuain.

CONI President Malago: “I Don’t Blame The Presidents Already Looking Toward Next Season”

Giovanni Malago, the president of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) has admitted he does not blame those out there who are already thinking about next season despite the fact the current season is yet to finish.

Serie A like almost every other league in the world is currently on hold due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains completely unknown as to whether or not play will be able to resume.

It has been widely reported in the Italian media in the the past few days and weeks that there is a split amongst the 20 Serie A clubs when it comes to what they want to see happen with the currently suspended season.

Some clubs are all for play resuming when the conditions allow it to whilst others think the current season is done and preparations for next season should start being made.

“Will the season finish? I understand those who say it would be nice to play as soon as possible to finish the season but then I read the reasons of presidents who would prefer to think about next season and I feel I can not blame them,” he remarked in an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport which appeared in today’s print edition.

“At the moment I don’t see it as easy for football to return, but I understand those who want to try. I am finding, however, that one after another other seasons elsewhere are stopping entirely.

“Could we resume playing on May 20? It’s a possibility but today nobody can know for sure what will happen.”

He was then asked if he thinks rules regarding betting should be modified to help mitigate the financial damage that the pandemic has caused.

“I have always been against these measures. We are the only country in the world with these prohibitions. Insisting with this prohibition is therapeutic obstinacy.”

Inter Eyeing Up Several Premier League Players Ahead Of Summer Transfer Window

Inter have their eyes on a number of players currently plying their trade in the Premier League ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

This season Inter have bought a number of players from the Premier League, most notably Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen, and they could well bring more current Premier League stars to the club in the coming months, the report explains.

Inter are interested in three defenders in particular, Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen and Chelsea duo Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

It is also understood that they are keen on signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud and could move for either of Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Manchester United’s Anthony Martial in the event that striker Lautaro Martinez leaves the club.

Martinez is continuing to draw links with moves elsewhere with Barcelona and Manchester City believed to be strongly interested in signing him.

Manchester City Interested In Inter Trio Lautaro Martinez, Skriniar & Bastoni

Manchester City could raid Inter for no less than three players in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Citizens manager Pep Guardiola is understood to be keen to really strengthen the side having ended up so far behind Liverpool this season and he could do that with the addition of three Nerazzurri players.

Lautaro Martinez is one player that the former Barcelona boss is understood to be a big fan of. The highly rated 22-year-old has a €111 million release clause in his current Inter contract and has also drawn very strong links to Spanish powerhouses Barcelona.

Guardiola is also believed to like Inter defenders Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni. The report goes on to state that Inter could move Skriniar on if a big offer arrives for him but they seemingly have no intention of letting Bastoni go and have already scheduled a meeting with his agents to discuss a new contract.

Premier League Side Tottenham Hotspur Cool Interest In Signing Inter Defender Godin

Tottenham Hotspur have cooled their interest in signing Inter centre back Diego Godin according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Premier League club have been strongly linked with a move for the experienced Uruguayan international in both English and Italian media as of late but as per this report, they have relinquished their interest in signing him in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

Whilst Spurs appear to now be out of the race to sign him, another Premier League club remain very much in the race to sign him and that is Manchester United, who are looking to add experience to their backline.

The 34-year-old only joined Inter this past Summer on a free transfer but has shown visible signs of struggle, particularly when it comes to trying to adapt to Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system which has led to media speculation that he could leave.

Alexis Sanchez Will Leave Inter & Return To Manchester United At The End Of The Season

Alexis Sanchez will bid farewell to Inter and return to Manchester United at the end of this season when his loan deal expires according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Chilean national team attacker joined the Nerazzurri on a season long loan this past Summer but has far from performed to the expectations that people had for him.

The former Barcelona player sustained an ankle injury early on in the season that sidelined him for three months and upon his return to action he has not set the world alight with his performances.

The report goes on to state that even if Inter had wanted to keep a hold of him his massive annual salary of €12 million would have been a big stumbling block.

The 31-year-old has made 15 appearances across all competitions to date although he has not even been on the field for 600 minutes in total. He has scored one goal and provided three assists.
