Lega Serie A To Meet Today To Discuss Season Resuming & Suspension Of Player Salaries

The Lega Serie A are to meet once again today to discuss a number of pressing topics according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

One topic they are to discuss is the possibility of the season resuming. The widely reported split among the 20 Serie A clubs over whether the season should resume or not remains.

Some club presidents are adamant that the remainder of the season should be played out whilst others believe the opposite and have a number of concerns.

Another topic that will be discussed is that of player salaries being suspended. Lega Serie A met with the Italian players association earlier on this week for talks but could not come to an agreement on the matter.

Lega Serie A proposed that salaries should be suspended until the end of the Coronavirus crisis whilst the Italian players association counter proposed that salaries should only be suspended for a month.

Sensi: “Conte Has A Paternal Attitude Toward Me, Inter Is My Home”

In an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi has spoken on a range of topics and firstly spoke on what football means to him.

“Football is my life, but now I struggle to think about it. Resuming playing is not the priority,” he began the interview which appeared in today’s print edition.

“We are citizens like all the others, we think of those who are ill and those who die and about the doctors and nurses on the front line.”

Sensi then went on to discuss the relationship that he has with Inter manager Antonio Conte and provided an update on his physical condition.

“I have an excellent relationship with Conte. It’s more playful than you think and he is very direct which I appreciate. With some of us, myself included, he has a paternal attitude.

“I’m recovered from the injuries, I’m ready, or I would be, rather.

The 24-year-old then went on to reveal when he realised he would have a career in football.

“At school I was not a phenomenon but at 12 I left home to play football. When did I understand that football would be my life? When I was at Cesena in Serie B.”

Next Sensi shared his love for Inter and his dreams both for football and in his personal life.

“My heart beats for Inter. I dream of winning trophies with Inter, as Inter is my home. I also wish to play in the European Championship’s with Italy and then start a big family.”

Sensi then went on to discuss the player that he idolised when he was growing up and something that he is trying to improve upon to become an even better player.

“I idolised Xavi and I study videos of him playing. When I get compared to him it is exciting but I do not get carried away.

“I have to improve my peripheral vision, it is something difficult to train but I am working on it.”

In conclusion he was asked if he has any concerns about his place in the team due to the arrival of Christian Eriksen during the January transfer window.

“A great team must have multiple players for each position. Christian has played at high levels, he has given us and will give us a great hand.”

Barcelona Want To Include Rafinha In Deal For Inter’s Lautaro Martinez

Barcelona would like to include Rafinha as part of a deal for Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona wish to conduct a player(s) plus cash deal for Lautaro and Rafinha is just the latest in a long line of names to have been suggested as a potential makeweight in any deal.

The Brazilian midfielder is currently out on loan at fellow La Liga side Celta Vigo and whilst they would like to keep a hold of him on a permanent basis they cannot afford to do so.

The 27-year-old had a six month loan spell with Inter in the second half of the 2017/18 season and Inter had an option to buy him back then but due to Financial Fair Play reasons they were unable to sign him up.

This season Rafinha has made 23 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored two goals and tallied just as many assists.

Inter Owned Icardi Tells PSG He Wants To Return To Italy

Mauro Icardi and his wife and agent Wanda Nara have spoken with Paris Saint Germain to reveal their desire to return to Italy at the end of this season according to a report from transfer market expert Nicolo Schira.

Icardi is currently out on loan at the reigning French champions from Inter and PSG have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for €70 million but the Icardi’s have been clear that they do not want to remain in the French capital and wish to return to Milan.

Upon learning this, PSG got in touch with Inter and confirmed they would not be engaging in any negotiations over a permanent transfer at the end of this season.

It now remains to be seen what happens with Icardi’s future with it highly unlikely that he will be reinstated at Inter. Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli confirmed yesterday they couldn’t afford him whilst he has also strongly been linked with Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

Inter Legend Mazzola: “Esposito Has The Skills & Talent To Carve Out A Space For Himself At Inter”

Inter legend Sandro Mazzola has shared his belief that Sebastiano Esposito can be an asset to Inter now despite him being so young.

Esposito has had a bit of a breakthrough at first team level this season with him being given some game time by Inter manager Antonio Conte.

Esposito has almost exclusively made substitute appearances but he has made his starting debut for the first team and in that same game he also grabbed his first senior goal for the club.

The teen sensation is widely regarded as one of the best prospects to have come through at Inter in a number of years and is widely regarded as one of the best talents of his generation.

Esposito has drawn some links with loan moves to Serie B clubs but Mazzola believes that Esposito should stay put at Inter.

“I would leave him with Conte. It seems to me to be the right solution,” Mazzola, who spent his entire 17 year playing career with Inter, remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet seriebnews.

“The boy knows he will face difficulties but if he is the player we, including Conte, all think he is, then it is better to keep him and put him on the right track. He can already be a precious asset despite his young age. He has the skills and talent to carve out a space for himself at Inter.”

Fiorentina Demand €100m For Inter Target Gaetano Castrovilli

Fiorentina have issued a strong hands off warning to Inter with them telling the Nerazzurri that they will have to cough up no less than €100 million if they wish to sign Gaetano Castrovilli according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.it.

Castrovilli is reportedly one of Inter’s top targets for the upcoming Summer transfer window and the Nerazzurri club told Fiorentina they were willing to pay €50 million but Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso hit back and demanded twice that.

Castrovilli has had a breakthrough season this term at La Viola and had cemented himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A and one of the most promising midfielders around at the moment.

The 23-year-old, who is under contract with the Stadio Artemio Franchi until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date this season in which he has scored three goals and provided two assists.

Former Inter Player Cauet: “Antonio Conte Has Made A Super Impact At Inter”

Former Inter midfielder Benoit Cauet has shared his belief that the Serie A title should not be assigned this season given the extraordinary circumstances.

“I think the most important thing is that this situation ends, it would make everyone happy. Health must come first of all and we must think about solving this situation,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet CalcioNews24.

“We have to understand exactly where we want to go when it comes to getting back to playing and how to make it possible for everyone to return to a season that will be completely different from all others.

“A solution could be playoffs, but even then there there is a need for everyone to agree. I believe that ultimately the title should not be awarded, period. It is an extreme situation, it is completely anomalous.”

Cauet then went on to discuss what he has made of the impact that Antonio Conte has made since becoming Inter manager this past Summer.

“Extraordinary. He has continued Spalletti’s work and has brought his mindset that helped him win a lot everywhere he has been.

“Inter play his football well. It is interesting to see how they are managing to get along with his system. Conte knows it by heart and this allows his players to play the same way.

“This is a super thing for Inter who has done very well to bring him in as manager. He is someone who enjoys a lot of esteem from everyone. Conte is a great professional and has made a super impact.”

Cauet then went on to discuss Stefano Sensi, who has struggled with injury for much of the season after an incredible start to life following his arrival on a season long loan with option to buy from fellow Serie A side Sassuolo.

“Sensi is a player who came after he made his bones with lower level teams, but in which he had always been the best. This is why Inter rated this player with a very high perspective. He is showing both in the Nerazzurri and in the national team that he is highly trusted. A player who has the technical skills to be able to truly explode and become a great player.”

Cauet proceeded to conclude the interview by speaking on the difficulties that Inter’s January transfer window acquisition Christian Eriksen has had.

“Together with Kane he helped Tottenham get where they did. He has great technical qualities and great vision. He knows how to play in his teammates very well and from this point of view he gives something different to Conte’s team.

“Arriving in Italian football in January is very difficult for a player who has played for many years in England and has played in a completely different way with a different speed and tempo. Even though Conte’s system has a lot to do with tempo, in Italy all teams are well organised tactically.”

Cauet spent four years on Inter’s books between the years 1997 and 2001 and made a total of 147 appearances across all competitions for the club in which he scored seven goals and provided two assists for his teammates.

Former Inter Director Paolillo: “Football Will Take 2 Years To Recover”

Former Inter director Ernesto Paolillo has shared his belief that it will take football a number of years to recover from the Coronavirus crisis.

Leagues across the globe have been suspended and some even cancelled entirely due to the global pandemic and the pandemic has caused and will cause further financial damage.

It has been estimated that Serie A and the 20 clubs combined could lose a total of €800 million in the worst case scenario that the season does not resume.

“I want to be realistic. It will take at least two years from the end of the pandemic for football to recover because the world of football is closely linked to the industrial and economic world,” he remarked in an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport which appeared in today’s print edition of the Turin newspaper.

“The football industry has an immediate problem, given the suspension of the leagues, and the problem of having to face a recovery that will be a slow process.”

Paolillo then went on to call for temporary changes to the Financial Fair Play system to help clubs out during these difficult times.

“There should be a temporary revision to Financial Fair Play to help the teams to recover. This revision must not be a loosening of the rules that will allow the big clubs to make more purchases and widen the gap with less well off clubs.

“It should concern the balance sheets and the possibility must be given to widen the maximum deficit allowed due to the revenues lost due to the Coronavirus.”

Paolillo, who has not taken up another position in football since leaving Inter at the end of the 2011/12 season, then spoke on the difference that resuming seasons would have on things.

“It would help from an economic point of view and would be a tool to give people distraction, but on the other hand there will be great regarding the results of the matches.”
