Italian Report Claims It’ll Be Difficult To Implement Juventus Model Across The Board When It Comes To Player Salaries

It will be difficult to replicate the Juventus model across the board in Italy when it comes to reducing player salaries according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

In the past few days reigning Italian champions Juventus reached an agreement with their players to waive their salaries for the months of March, April, May and June to help the club’s finances during these unprecedented times which have been brought about by the global Coronavirus pandemic.

Lega Serie A want all the players of their teams to agree to cuts to help out but it will be difficult for this to happen.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that the Italian players association would like to set up a fund partly funded by the wages from the big clubs to help out players lower down the Italian football pyramid who do not have the luxury of a massive contract.

Inter Leading The Race To Sign Hellas Verona Starlet Kumbulla

Inter are in pole position to sign highly rated defender Marash Kumbulla from Hellas Verona in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri club are facing strong competition for the youngster’s signature, particularly from abroad, with RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Premier League club Everton all understood to be keen on signing him.

On top of this trio, Inter also face competition domestically for the Albanian national team centre back with Napoli and Fiorentina both interested in him.

As per the report from the Milan based newspaper, Hellas Verona currently value Kumbulla in the region of €25-30 million.

Reports elsewhere in the media in recent weeks have suggested that Inter could look to make the most of their good relations with the Gialloblu club and could potentially offer both Federico Dimarco and Eddie Salcedo as part of a deal for Kumbulla.

Serie A Clubs Remain Split Over What They Want To See Happen With This Season

Serie A clubs remain split on the possibility of the 2019/20 campaign resuming according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Serie A has been put on hold for the past few weeks due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and clubs have differing stances on whether or not the season should resume.

Lazio, Roma and Napoli are all adamant that the season should resume and be finished at all costs whilst Atalanta, Cagliari and Hellas Verona also have this view albeit to a bit of a lesser extent.

Inter, AC Milan, Torino, Sampdoria, Genoa, Brescia and SPAL are all of the view that there should be no more football played and that Serie A should be a 22 team league next season thus meaning no teams would be relegated but the top two in Serie B would still be promoted.

Reigning Italian champions Juventus currently have a neutral viewpoint despite the fact club president Andrea Agnelli is fighting to save the season through his role with the European Club Association.

Inter Could Buy Musso & Loan Him Back To Udinese For A Season

Inter could buy Juan Musso from Udinese and leave him there for another season to continue his development according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

The Argentine national team shot-stopper has been one of the best performing goalkeepers in Italy since his arrival in the Summer of 2018 and in a recent interview he refused to rule out the possibility of a move to Inter in the future.

Udinese are understood to value the 25-year-old at no less than €30 million which Inter deem to be quite a big sum for a player who would initially be the back-up goalkeeper to current number one and club captain Samir Handanovic.

Inter could however try and bring the price down by offering young goalkeeper Ionut Andrei Radu as part of any deal. The 22-year-old Romanian spent the first half of the season out on loan at Genoa and is now out on loan at Parma but he is yet to play for the Ducali club.

UEFA Have Three Possible Dates In Mind For When The Season Could Resume

European football’s governing body UEFA are adamant that this season will be finished, even if it has to carry on into the Summer according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Football across the continent has been on hold for a few weeks now due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains a mystery as to whether the season will even resume given the severity of the situation.

UEFA are due to meet with their 55 member federations, FIFPro and the European Club Association tomorrow to discuss ways forward and as per the report UEFA will put forward three ideas on how the season can resume.

The first idea is to have the season resume in mid-May, the second idea and the one with the most common-sense foresees the season starting up at the end of May and the third idea is to start between the middle and the end of June.

In order to help domestic campaigns finish, the formats of both the Champions League and Europa League will be modified to shorten the number of matches required to reach the final.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that Conte will stick with his tried and tested 3-5-2 system next season but he must figure out the best position to deploy Christian Eriksen in.

Inter & Fiorentina Could Do Straight Swap Deal With Biraghi & Dalbert

Cristiano Biraghi and Dalbert could have their loans extended at Inter and Fiorentina or they could complete permanent switches this Summer according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

Biraghi and Dalbert joined Inter and Fiorentina on loan this past Summer and both clubs would like to keep the players but it remains to be seen which formula they will keep them on.

The loan deals could simply be extended for another season or the two clubs could perform a straight swap deal for the players given their values are pretty much identical.

In the event a swap deal takes place, both the Nerazzurri and Viola clubs would make capital gains on their player which will be important for the sake of the budget.

Biraghi has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date for Inter in which he has scored one goal and provided four assists.

Dalbert has meanwhile represented Fiorentina on 26 occasions this term and has provided seven assists for his teammates.

Inter Refusing To Give Up On Dries Mertens Who Continues To Wait For New Contract Offer From Napoli

A potential move to Inter is not completely dead in the water for Napoli ace Dries Mertens according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Inter have been strongly linked with the Belgian national team attacker for months now given his contract with Napoli is set to expire at the end of the season.

There is understood to have been talks between Mertens and Napoli earlier on this month to discuss terms over a new deal but there has still been no offer made and Mertens could therefore begin to look around and see what other options he has.

As per the report, Inter are ready to offer the 32-year-old, who has been with the Stadio San Paolo club since 2013, a two year deal with an annual salary of €5 million plus bonuses.

This season Mertens has made 29 appearances across all competitions to date. In little under 1800 minutes on the field in total, he has scored 12 goals and provided six assists for teammates.

Inter & Napoli Interested In Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze

Inter are one of two Serie A clubs ready to pounce when Mario Gotze becomes a free agent at the end of this season according to a report from German news outlet BILD.

2014 World Cup winner Gotze’s contract with current employers Borussia Dortmund is due to expire at the end of the campaign and it does not look like he will sign a contract extension with the Signal Iduna Park side where he has spent almost his entire playing career.

As per the report, the 27-year-old midfielder is ready to embark on a new adventure and his future could well be in Italy with the report stating that Napoli, like Inter, are interested in him.

Gotze has found playing time extremely hard to come by this season with him having been on the pitch for just 596 minutes which have been spread across 19 appearances across all competitions. He has scored three goals and provided one assist this term.
