Many Serie A Clubs Unhappy With Juventus’ Decision To Reach Agreement With Players & Staff Over Salary Payments

Juventus’ decision to reach an agreement over salary payments with their players and staff has angered both Serie A and several other Serie A clubs according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.

Juventus came to an agreement with their players and staff that means they will not get paid for the months of March, April, May and June, something that will save the Bianconeri club a sum of no less than €90 million.

As per the report, many clubs had hoped to present themselves to the Italian players associations (AIC) with a united front to stand a better chance of the AIC agreeing but this will now not be possible given Juventus acted before everyone else.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that Lega Serie A will propose a salary freeze until June to the AIC who will in return ask for all January and February payments to be complied with to quantify the damage.

Italian Sports Lawyer Ferrari: “Players Have The Right To Free Themselves If Wages Are Reduced”

Italian sports lawyer Luca Ferrari has revealed that players have the right to free themselves from their contract if clubs chose to decrease, withhold or stop paying their wages entirely.

In the past few days Juventus reached an agreement with their players that means they will not be paid for the months of March, April, May or June given the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

Many other Serie A clubs are said to be keen on following in the footsteps of the Bianconeri club and taking some similar action to help ease the financial blow that the pandemic has caused.

Ferrari, who is part of international law firm Withersworldwide, has revealed that clubs are well within their rights to take said action but warns that the players they will be impacting also having rights of their own in such a situation.

“An employer has the right to apply measures laid down by the state whilst the employee has the right to be able to exercise the constitutional right of free economic initiative, by releasing themselves and relying on the market,” Ferrari explained in an interview with Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which appeared in today’s print edition.

“Therefore, I do not see how the player can be prevented by law from withdrawing from the contract they are in for just cause and moving to another club, in Italy or abroad, once his club has informed him to have put him in a “redundancy fund” at 70% of their salary.”

FIGC President Gravina: “Serie A Won’t Resume Before May”

Italian football federation president Gabriele Gravina has insisted that for the time being the priority remains finishing the Serie A season during the Summer.

Serie A has been on hold for a number of weeks now, just like all sporting activity across Italy, due to measures that the Italian government put in place due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

A number of dates when the season could potentially resume have been thrown out there as have several potential solutions for how the season could be concluded.

It has been reported in the past few days and weeks that there is division amongst all Serie A clubs about what they want to see happen. Some believe there will be no more football played whilst some remain absolutely adamant that the season must be finished.

“The priority is to end the season by the summer, without compromising the 2020-21 season,” Gravina remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Cusano Campus earlier on today.

He then went on to confirm that the season will not start up against before May.

“The first concerns at the moment relate to the great difficulty that we are experiencing and that is changing our life. The season will certainly not resume before May, this was a scenario that we had already speculated.”

Inter’s Squad Value Has Decreased By 35% Due To Coronavirus Pandemic

The transfer market values of players across Europe’s top five leagues have plummeted as a direct consequence of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic according to a report from the CIES Football Observatory.

CIES have estimated that there has been a decrease of no less than 28% in transfer values across Europe’s top five leagues meaning the total value of all players has dropped from €32.7 billion to €23.4 billion.

There are several contributing factors to these decreases such as age, contract duration and recent performances. CIES have used Manchester United and France star Paul Pogba as an example and estimate that his value has dropped from €65 million to €35 million.

As far as teams as a whole are concerned, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have been affected the most with their squad’s value dropping by some 37.9%.

Inter have in fact been the second worst affected of all teams in Europe’s top five leagues with the total squad value dropping 35.7% from €773 million to €497 million.

Serie A Clubs Finding Idea Of Not Finishing Season More Acceptable After Juventus’ Agreement With Their Players

The idea of not resuming the season is becoming more acceptable amongst Serie A clubs following Juventus’ agreement with players and staff over salary payments according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

In the past few days the reigning Italian champions came to an agreement with their players and staff which means they will not be paid for the months of March, April, May or June given the current situation, action which will save them almost €100 million.

A number of clubs are understood to be keen on taking similar action to that of Juventus’ and should it happen, it can be presumed that it will only be seen as further acceptable to cancel the season.

The report from the Rome based newspaper does however go on to state that both Lazio and Napoli are fiercely against the idea of the season being stopped entirely.

The final world will ultimately belong to the Italian government although the Italian football federation hope to resume play starting May 16 and finish the season in the middle of July.

Inter Have Agreement With Hellas Verona Over Kumbulla

Inter have an agreement with Hellas Verona over the permanent transfer of Marash Kumbulla according to a report in today’s print edition of Veronese newspaper L’Arena.

The Nerazzurri will pay the Gialloblu club €20 million and Eddie Salcedo and Federico Dimarco, who are already on loan at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi club, will also be included in the deal.

Kumbulla is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Italian football at the moment and he may not be the only player that Inter bring in from Hellas Verona, the report explains.

The report goes on to state that Inter are also thinking about possibly making a move for Davide Faraoni. The 28-year-old full back is a product of the club’s academy and would therefore count toward homegrown registration rules in UEFA competitions.

Faraoni is valued at €4 million by Hellas Verona, who are understood to want to keep him on their books.

Udinese Goalkeeper Musso: “It’s Nice To Be Linked With Inter, I Won’t Rule Anything Out”

Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso has welcomed the reported interest in his services from Inter in an interview with Argentine newspaper Olé.

Inter are said to be on the look out for a new goalkeeper ahead of the Summer transfer window as they look for a goalkeeper capable of initially being Samir Handanovic’s back-up and then being able to take over from him for the long term.

Musso firstly shared his desire to play alongside Lautaro Martinez again, something he would be able to do if he moves to Inter.

“I would like to play again with Lautaro Martínez, as well as with other players that I have already had as teammates. He is one of the best strikers of the world. I know him well, he is a fighter.

“It is said that he might go to Barcelona. It will depend on many things but you have to take everything with a pinch of salt.”

He then spoke on what the interest from a team like Inter means to him.

“It is nice to hear these rumours. Knowing that such an important team such as Inter is interested in me gives me a lot of incentives to give more but now I am 100% focused on Udinese. It is thanks to them I got my first call-up to the Argentine national team.”

He then went on to insist that he is not ruling anything out and will not allow himself to become distracted by all of the speculation.

“Things are done when the transfer market is in progress, but it is normal that there are conversations between executives outside of it, with some asking others for information on prices.

“It happens very often and it may be the case that it has happened for me too. I will not rule anything out. I know I have had two good seasons. I am not an anxious person and these rumours will not distract me.”

The 25-year-old shot-stopper has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italy since his arrival at Udinese and this season he has kept nine clean sheets in 27 appearances across all competitions.

Inter Will Honor Gentlemans Agreement With Sassuolo To Sign Stefano Sensi

Inter will honour the agreement they have with Sassuolo to sign Stefano Sensi on a permanent basis according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Sensi joined the Nerazzurri on a season long loan with option to buy but it is understood that Inter have pretty much promised the Neroverdi club that they will sign the Italian midfielder permanently despite not being obliged to do so.

Sensi shone at the beginning of the season and the €25 million option appeared to be a bargain but for the majority of the season Sensi has been sidelined due to a series of injuries.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that Inter are expecting more from the former Cesena man and it remains to be seen what Antonio Conte will do tactically given Christian Eriksen is now at the club and both Sensi and Eriksen are fighting it out for the same spot.
