Brescia’s Alfredo Donnarumma: “Inter Stefan de Vrij Is The Best Defender In Serie A”

Brescia striker Alfredo Donnarumma has heaped praise on Inter duo Stefan de Vrij and Samir Handanovic in an interview with transfer market expert Nicolo Schira.

“de Vrij impressed me a lot when we played against Inter, he is the strongest defender in Serie A. It was really hard to face him,” Donnarumma told Schira in an interview which was broadcast on Schira’s official Instagram profile.

He was then asked about who the best goalkeeper that he has come up against is: “Inter’s Handanovic is very strong, but Udinese’s Musso also impressed me so much. He will become a top goalkeeper.”

Next Donnarumma, who is the elder brother of AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi, spoke on who his footballing idol was when he was growing up: “Il Fenomeno Ronaldo was my idol, he drove me crazy.”

The 29-year-old then went on to speak about some of the shirts he has acquired from his fellow players throughout the course of this season.

“This year I have started to exchange shirts. I really care about those of my former companions like Di Lorenzo, Lapadula and Ciccio Caputo. Those of friends also have a special meaning, then I have those of Lukaku, my brother and Palacio, who is a great player, too.”

This season Donnarumma has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Brescia, who are currently propping up all of Serie A having struggled since their promotion. In just over 1100 minutes on the park, the former Empoli player has scored five goals but has not been able to provide any assists.

Inter Offered Chance To Sign Monaco’s Benjamin Henrichs

AS Monaco’s Benjamin Henrichs has been offered to Inter ahead of the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

This is not the first time that the German national team full back has been linked with Inter with him also having drawn links to the Nerazzurri clubs during his days with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

Henrichs, who is capable of playing as either a left or right back or even a mezzala if necessary, is currently under contract with the Ligue 1 outfit, who he joined in the Summer of 2018, until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Injuries have limited the 23-year-old’s playing time this season but he has still managed to make 15 appearances across all competitions. In almost 1100 minutes on the field, Henrichs has failed to make any goal contributions but he has helped AS Monaco to keep three clean sheets when he has played.

Inter Youngster Colidio Likely To Be Loaned Out Again Next Season

Facundo Colidio will return to Inter at the end of this season and will likely spend next season out on loan too according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The young Argentine striker is currently out on loan at Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Sint-Truiden and the spell has proved highly beneficial for him with him being exposed to regular first team football.

This season Colidio, who joined Inter from Argentine giants Boca Juniors back in the Summer of 2017 for a sum of €7 million, has made 13 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored one goal and provided seven assists for his teammates in little under 1000 minutes on the park.

Colidio has drawn links to Premier League and Serie B clubs in the past and it remains to be seen where he will be loaned next but the report states that the hope is that he will be able to make a further leap in quality wherever he goes and increase his chances of possibly making it into Inter’s first team.

FIGC President Gravina: “We Will Try, In Every Way Possible, To Save The Season”

Gabriele Gravina, the president of the Italian football federation, has confirmed that he and his colleagues will do everything that they can in order to save the 2019/20 season.

Football in Italy has been on hold for a few weeks now due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it is unlikely to resume any time soon given the circumstances but Gravina is refusing to lose hope of the season resuming at some stage.

European football’s governing body UEFA have postponed the European Championship’s that were due to take place this Summer in order to open up the months of June and July to finish their domestic campaigns if required.

“The primary objective is to resume the season, we have traced a scenario that foresees the resumption of the league because I think it is the right choice,” he remarked in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Sportiva earlier on this evening.

“This is a hypothesis that we have a duty to carry on but we are also working on alternative hypotheses to give concrete answers to our clubs and our fans.

“We are sure that we will try, in every way possible, to save the current season without compromising the next. We will have the European Championship’s and other commitments of the national teams and we cannot think of starting the 2020-2021 past mid-August.”

He was then asked what would happen in the event that the season does not resume but reiterated that the priority is to conclude the season.

“The Federal Council has decision-making power and will exercise it in the most balanced way without underestimating the risks of disputes that Italian football cannot afford. We are studying several hypotheses but there is no one better than another. The priority is to finish the season.”

Next Gravina spoke on players having to potentially take pay cuts.

“Several initiatives have been launched, there are proposals and we are trying to find a middle ground between the different positions that are held. We cannot pretend that football is not suffering economic damage just like industry has all over the country.”

He concluded by discussing Serie A clubs calls for rules on betting companies to be relaxed to help out during this crisis situation.

“We have to separate what are emergencies to make up for the short-term liquidity shortage from what are structural needs that will have to be addressed because sport will also undergo a radical change that we will have to guide and accompany.”

Former Inter Defender Galante: “Eriksen Was A Very Important Purchase For Inter”

In an interview with Italian radio station Radio Nerazzurra, former Inter player Fabio Galante has given fans an insight into life in quarantine.

“Life is changing for all Italians, we have to stay at home. Staying at home is the only vaccine to overcome this moment,” he said in the interview which took place earlier on today.

“I try to wake up as late as possible, I have breakfast, train and spend time with my partner but it is not easy. It is one thing to stay home two days, another thing to stay home for a couple of weeks. It is difficult for everyone, but everyone is united we will be able to overcome this moment.”

He then went on to share his views about the possible resumption of the 2019/20 season and the hotly discussed issue of players salaries and them potentially being cut to help clubs out at this difficult time.

“It is hard to talk about dates the season could resume now. It is not easy to even think about when teams could go back to training. There will also have to be a decision on whether to play with open or closed doors and it must apply to everyone in order to not give any advantages or disadvantages.

“As for wages it is a delicate issue. I have many friends who personally made donations like the 2006 world champions and many others, but the Italian PFA must find a solution.

“Playing in Serie C is not the same as playing in a top Serie A club, salaries are different. Something can be done, but the Italian PFA and the clubs have to decide. ”

Galante then went on to discuss the current Inter squad and spoke on players such as Christian Eriksen, Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.

“Improving is not easy. This year as a team Inter is strong in all departments. Eriksen has was a very important purchase and hardly anyone on the planet has an attack like Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez. I do not know where the team can improve.”

Galante spent three years with Inter between 1996 and 1999. He made a total of 88 appearances across all competitions during his time with the club in which he scored three goals.

The former Italian youth national team player, who also played for Torino during his career, won a single trophy during his time on the Nerazzurri’s books, the UEFA Cup in the 1997/98 season.

Inter Unlikely To Sign Alexis Sanchez Permanently From Manchester United

Alexis Sanchez’s future is unlikely to be with Inter according to a report from Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

The Chilean national team attacker joined the Nerazzurri on a season long loan from Premier League club Manchester United and having failed to live up to expectations it is very unlikely that Inter will attempt to pursue any sort of permanent move for him at the end of this season.

Sanchez’s future could however lie very far away, in the Chinese Super League or in Major League Soccer, the report goes on to state.

Clubs from both leagues are said to have taken an interest in signing the 31-year-old former Barcelona player and the report also states that there are some South American clubs keen on signing him too.

Whilst on loan at Inter, Sanchez has made 15 appearances across all competitions. In little under 600 minutes on the park, Sanchez has contributed a single goal and three assists.
