Inter Identify Aubameyang As Replacement For Lautaro Martinez If He Leaves In The Summer

Inter have chosen the player they will go in for to replace Lautaro Martinez should he leave the club in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from FCInter1908.it.

Lautaro has drawn very strong links with La Liga powerhouses Barcelona in recent weeks and months with it understood that the Blaugrana club see him as their number one transfer target.

Given the interest in the highly rated 22-year-old, Inter have already worked out who they will replace him with if he departs and that player is Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese national team forward’s contract with the Premier League club is due to expire at the end of next season and he is seemingly against the idea of a contract extension thus meaning Arsenal will have to sell him this Summer if they wish to avoid losing him for nothing next Summer.

The report goes on to state that Inter face competition from Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United for the former Borussia Dortmund man.

Inter Legend Bergomi: “Eriksen Needs To Play Closer To The Attackers”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has spoken on Christian Eriksen time so far with Inter following his January transfer window arrival.

The Danish national team attacking midfielder joined the club in a circa €20 million deal from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur but has not exactly set the world alight since he joined the club.

Eriksen has struggled to adapt to manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system as he is being forced to play out of position and he has not lived up to expectations so far yet.

“It is a question that they have already asked me many times. I have always answered in the same way and time has proved me right,” he remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

“The Dane is different from all the other midfielders in the squad, he has qualities, but my doubts have always been about his position on the field.

“Up to now I have been right because it is difficult to put him in the middle three. Conte is trying to find him a different position, he needs to be close to the attackers.”

Bergomi, who spent his entire playing career on Inter’s books, then went on to reveal that there were a few times throughout his career when he could have left for other clubs.

“There were a few times. One came when Trapattoni was in charge of Juventus and then the others came in 1992 when Lazio and Roma came in but in the end I remained.”

Bergomi played for Inter between 1979 and 1999 and made no less than 754 appearances across all competitions for the club, which is the second most of all players in Inter history with only Javier Zanetti having played more for the club.

Burdisso: “We All Want To See Inter Fighting For The Scudetto Like Long Ago”

Former Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso has discussed Inter’s performances during the campaign so far and shared his hopes to see Inter fighting for the title.

As things stand Inter remain in contention to win a trio of trophies, the Serie A title, Coppa Italia and the Europa League.

“Inter were doing well, I have been following Conte’s side for a long time. Inter have clear ideas and everyone is waiting for them to compete for the Scudetto. We all want to see Inter fighting for the Scudetto like long ago,” the former Argentine national team defender told Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia earlier on today.

Burdisso, who recently left his post as sporting director of Argentine giants Boca Juniors, spent five years with Inter between 2004 and 2009.

He made 139 appearances across all competitions for the club and won lots of silverware as he was with the club during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. He won four Serie A titles, two Italian cups and two Italian Supercups.

Burdisso scored eight goals and provided five assists and helped the team keep a number of clean sheets during his time with the club.

Inter Defender Ranocchia: “I’ll Remember Captaining Inter For The Rest Of My Life”

In a live question and answer session which was broadcast across Inter’s social media channels earlier on today, Inter centre back Andrea Ranocchia discussed a number of different topics, starting with what he has made of the whole Coronavirus situation and how he is keeping himself busy at home.

“Nobody could have expected such a thing, our generation but also that of our parents had never experienced such a situation, but we have to hold on and work as a team to get out of it as soon as possible,” he said.

“In these days I have taken some time for myself. Twice a day I train, interspersing different exercises and adapting them to the “home”, then I read, cook, listen to music and thus organise the day.

“We can’t help but stay indoors, safe, safeguarding us and others. I hope that everything will pass as soon as possible.”

Next he went on to discuss the difficult moments he has faced during his career and what he has has used the difficulties he has faced to help him do.

“On a sporting and personal level, I have experienced difficult moments, we all have ups and downs in life. There have been difficult moments in football, but there have always been opportunities for great growth and awareness to improve in the future.

“The difficulties help to train you, to date I am satisfied with what I have done and built since the beginning of my career, especially on a human level, which is very important for a footballer.”

Ranocchia then went on to reflect about the first time he came up against Inter as an opponent as well as his debut for the club.

“My first time at San Siro was as an opponent, and it coincided with my debut in Serie A, I was at Bari and we drew against the treble winning, it was a beautiful match and an unforgettable emotion.

“My debut for Inter happened away to Catania, I entered for a few minutes at the end of the match and I remember the emotion, because officially joining the team that had won everything the year before was a unique feeling, playing at the side of those players for me was the best things.

“The team we have today is a good team, we still have to grow but the club has made many signings. Conte has that warrior spirit, he has not changed from his past as a player.”

Ranocchia then went on to discuss some of the most significant moments of his time representing the Nerazzurri, something he has done on no less than 201 occasions in his nine and a bit years on the club’s books.

“There have been many important moments with Inter, obviously the joys are linked to the trophies won, I remember when we won the Italian Cup in Rome against Palermo, winning with this shirt has a different, unique flavor.

“The block I made against Bayern Munich is also a nice memory, saving that goal made me proud of being able to pass the round against a strong team and at home. It remains an indelible memory.”

The Italian then went on to speak about what it meant to him to wear the captain’s armband for Inter.

“Wearing that armband after Zanetti was a beautiful legacy, a great satisfaction and a lot of responsibility. It does not happen to everyone to be able to wear the armband of such an important club, it is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Next he went on to discuss some of his favourite Inter memories of all time and also revealed he remains in touch with a number of his former teammates.

“Certainly the most important Inter goals are those of Milito in the Champions League final. Those are the goals that are most remembered, even if all those that were made to get to play that game were fundamental.

“To have entered the dressing room the following year, to have known those players closely was wonderful. There are many Inter footballers of the past with whom I have stayed in touch, I spoke to Materazzi a few days ago, I see Zanetti often and Stankovic and Chivu. I saw Cambiasso recently and I wrote to Milito on Instagram, just like I do with Jonathan.”

Ranocchia then went on to reveal who his football idol was when he was growing up and spoke on some of the special shirts he has collected throughout his career.

“When I was a child I was an attacker, I was already very tall, so they put me up top, my idol was Ronaldo. When I became a central defender I was always inspired by Nesta.

“I have exchanged several jerseys with my opponents, I have a full warehouse that one day I will fix and order and I will remember many memories of the matches I played in.

“I always keep a shirt as a souvenir from each of my years with Inter. I have four shirts hanging at home. One is Javier Zanetti’s, one of Nesta’s, one of Buffon’s Italy jerseys and one of Paolo Maldini’s.”

He then spoke briefly on Inter teen sensation Sebastiano Esposito: “I often talk to him on the pitch, he has a lot of talent.

He concluded by discussing his plans for the future.

“My future? I am thinking about what to do next but I still do not know. I would like to stay working in football and work with young people but I have several ideas in mind and I will evaluate them once I finish playing.”

Serie A Clubs Want Broadcasters To Pay Up But Broadcasters Could Take Legal Action

Serie A clubs want the league’s broadcasters to cough up the €233 million they would have paid out had the season still been going on despite the season currently being on hold and there being doubts about whether or not the season will even resume according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

Football across Italy has been on hold for a few weeks now due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it is completely uncertain as to when or if the season will resume.

Television rights money is vital for the clubs but a legal battle could begin, the report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state.

Recent reports in the media have stated that Serie A clubs are looking for their players to take wage cuts given there is no football going on and broadcasters could argue they do not need to pay out as there is not football happening.

Juventus Director Paratici: “There’ll Be Many Swap Deals In The Summer That’ll Bring Football Closer To The NBA”

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici, like Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, has shared his belief that the upcoming Summer transfer window will be a little different compared to usual.

Marotta revealed that he is expecting it to be a poorer quality transfer market due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and believes that there will be more swap deals conducted between clubs.

In an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport, which appeared in today’s print edition, Paratici has echoed Marotta’s views and suggested it could be very much similar to the way transfers are dealt with in the NBA, where all deals are done via trades and there is a bigger focus on free agency.

“There will be many swap deals, a situation that will bring football closer to the NBA. It is likely that some clubs, for example in Germany, will benefit from the general crisis situation due to a stronger underlying economy than others,” Paratici, who has been the Bianconeri’s sporting director for the past decade, explained.

A number of potential swap deals have already been speculated about in the media with reports suggesting both Inter and Juventus could do swap deals with clubs in the coming months.

Inter Legend Bergomi: “Bastoni Has Always Been Physically & Technically Good, He Has To Follow Conte’s Instructions”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has sang the praises of young Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni and has shared his belief that Bastoni will get even better.

Bastoni has broken through into the Inter first team this season and has even kept the vastly more experienced Diego Godin, who is 14 years his senior, out of the side as of late.

The Italian youth national team centre back is widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects currently on Inter’s books and he has drawn links to a number of clubs as of late including reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.

“I have known Bastoni for a long time and I have been following his growth for a while also in the various youth national teams. He has always been physically and technically good,” Bergomi began a column which appeared in today’s print edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is a left footed centre back which is a rare commodity in today’s game. He is a good dribbler and a certain arrogance that is nice to see in a young player.

“He still has to grow but he has the means to do so and has great masters to learn from. He has to follow Conte’s instructions.”

The 20-year-old, who is under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date this season. In 1330 minutes on the park, he has scored a single goal.
