UEFA Have Two Ideas On How To Conclude 2019/20 Season

The idea of resuming the season in May is unlikely to occur and leagues are now thinking about possibly resuming play in June according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

12 leagues across Europe have already reached an agreement amongst themselves to try and resume their respective seasons at the same time, seasons which were stopped as a result of the global Coronavirus pandemic.

As per the report, European football’s governing body UEFA have two ideas about how seasons could be finished. The first idea is to finish seasons playing domestic and continental competitions simultaneously as is usually the case whilst the other idea is to finish domestic competitions first and then finish the continental competitions.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that June is the latest that leagues can start back up again and it also adds that the international break scheduled for the first week in June has been abolished to open up more dates to play club games on.

Inter CEO Marotta: “I Think It’ll Be A Poor Transfer Market & There Could Be More Swap Deals”

Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has shared his belief that the upcoming transfer market will be poor in comparison to others as a result of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

The pandemic has halted football not only across Europe but worldwide and could potentially cause very significant financial damage which would obviously affect clubs in the transfer window.

Marotta believes that due to this there could be a lot more swap deals conducted by clubs, many of whom will be cash strapped due to the situation.

“Beyond the dates that are still to be determined, I think it will inevitably be a poorer market in which there could therefore be more swap deals. We will see a general decrease in prices because the problem is global. It will be important to be able to exploit the resources of the academy,” he stated in an interview with Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

One swap deal that has been heavily speculated about in the media concerns Inter striker Lautaro Martinez. Barcelona are said to see him as their number one transfer target for the Summer and it is understood that they are willing to part with some players on top of a cash sum in order to sign the highly rated 22-year-old.

Alessandro Bastoni: “In 10 Years Time Maybe I’ll Be The Inter Captain”

Young Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that he was worried about being able to make the step up at Inter when Inter manager Antonio Conte wanted him involved with the first team during pre-season.

“Conte called me before I went to the training camp. He kept me on the phone for 15 minutes, he said” what are you worried about? If you are at Inter there is a reason, you will soon find out. You are here because I wanted you.” I was scared, I was afraid of not being up to the big jump,” he began an interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

He then went on to speak about his debut which came against Sampdoria at the end of September.

“During the week I had some feelings but Conte said nothing to me, that is one of his strengths. He treated me like someone who had been playing for Inter for 15 years.”

Next he was asked if he thinks the 2019/20 football season will resume at all given the current Coronavirus pandemic situation.

“I would like to, it is my and the team’s hope to take the field as soon as possible but the priority now is everyone’s health.”

He was then quick to play down the idea of playing for Italy at next Summer’s European Championship’s with him instead focused on achieving success with Inter first.

“No, I keep the goals for Inter. I want to win here. If we go back to playing, we are still in the running on several fronts to do it already this season.”

Next he discussed his move to Inter in the Summer of 2017 from fellow Serie A side Atalanta.

“My agent, Tinti, summoned me to the Autogrill in Parma. I got out of the car and we started talking and he said “you want to go to Int…”, I didn’t even let him finish and said “yes yes, let’s go.” I only learned of the €31 million paid later on.”

In conclusion he shared where he hopes to see himself in the next 10 years.

“At Inter, having won some trophies and maybe captain.”

This season he has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored a single goal.

Lokomotiv Moscow Want To Sign Joao Mario Permanently From Inter

Lokomotiv Moscow want to sign Joao Mario on a permanent basis from Inter at the end of the season according to a report from transfer market expert Nicolo Schira.

The Portuguese midfielder is currently out on loan at the Russian Premier League club and they have an option to sign him on a permanent basis for a sum of €18 million.

However, according to Schira, Lokomotiv Moscow want to sign him for less and he claims that talks are ongoing between the two clubs.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder joined Inter in the Summer of 2016 as one of then new owners Suning’s first purchase in a circa €40 million deal from Portuguese powerhouses Sporting.

Joao Mario however failed to live up to expectations and failed to ever cement a place in the team under multiple managers at the Nerazzurri.

This season he has made 15 appearances across all competitions in which he has scored one goal and provided four assists for his teammates.

Inter Legend Julio Cesar: “Handanovic Is One Of The Top 5 Goalkeepers In The World”

In a question and answer session which took place on world football’s governing body FIFA’s official Twitter channel, legendary Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar has spoken on a range of topics, firstly touching on his time with then Premier League club Queens Park Rangers.

“I think the Premier League is the best league in the world. The atmosphere between stadiums and fans is very nice. I think that every player, if they have the opportunity, should play in this league: when you get an offer you don’t need to think about it so much, you just have to accept it,” he started.

He then went on to sing the praises of young Inter and Brazilian youth national team goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao.

“Inter are on the right track with Gabriel Brazão, a young Brazilian goalkeeper who has already signed with the Nerazzurri. He is now out on loan.”

Next he was asked what the best moment of his illustrious playing career was.

“It is not easy to choose just one, because I have lived many beautiful moments. I will choose two. I am happy that I got the opportunity to play at a World Cup in Brazil in 2014. The other beautiful moment relates to the Champions League win with Inter. Winning the treble for the club was a great pride.”

Cesar then went on to discuss his best save for Inter and his best save for the Brazilian national team.

“For Inter, it was a shot I saved taken by Messi in the semi final of the 2009/10 Champions League. It was as beautiful a save as it was important.

“As for Brazil, I think it would be the penalty kick I saved against Chile at the 2014 World Cup.”

The former Toronto goalkeeper proceeded to talk about when he thinks Inter will win Serie A again.

“I have to be honest, I don’t know. I hope that it will be soon though. I love Inter and the fans deserve it.”

In conclusion Cesar spoke on current Inter number one and club captain Samir Handanovic.

“For me he is one of the five best goalkeepers in the world, he has proved it in recent years. Little is said about him though because he has not played in the Champions League very much.”

Cesar joined Inter in the Summer of 2005 and would spend the next seven years with the club before joining QPR. He made 300 appearances across all competitions in his time with the club and played an integral part of all the success that the club had at the time.

Italian Report Claims Inter Manager Conte Isn’t Interested In Coutinho

Inter manager Antonio Conte is not interested in Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Coutinho has drawn links to Inter in the past few days but this report explains that Conte does not want the Brazilian national team player as he is currently seeking players with different characteristics.

Coutinho is currently out on loan at German giants Bayern Munich who have an option to buy him but with it understood Bayern Munich will not take up this option, Barcelona are looking to offload him in the upcoming Summer transfer window.

The former Liverpool attacking midfielder has been linked with a return to Inter but at least for the time being it does not look like any move will happen.

Italian Minister For Sport Spadafora: “Resuming Season At Start Of May Is Too Optimistic”

In an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 3 show Chi l’ha visto last night, Italian minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora has admitted the idea of the 2019/20 season resuming at the beginning of May is too optimistic.

Football and all other sporting activity across Italy has been on hold for a few weeks now and will continue to be until at least April 3 as a result of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

However, due to the currently ever changing situation it looks highly unlikely that any sporting activity in the country will take place anytime around that date.

Italian football federation president Gabriele Gravina has suggested the date of May 3 to resume whilst May 10 and May 17 have also been suggested as dates when the season could potentially resume.

“The forecasts that made us think we could resume sports competitions in late April or May, have been too optimistic given the evolution of the health emergency,” Spadafora began the interview.

“I can say for certain that, if the resumption of sporting events will exist, it will certainly start again behind closed doors.

“It’s not possible to think otherwise, but I also have some doubts with respect to the date of May 3. Unfortunately, this medical emergency is constantly related to its evolution. We have to adapt our decisions very often to the epidemic.”

He then went on to suggest that ultimately the final decision will come down to the Italian football federation.

“The final choice will be down to the FIGC, but it’s unlikely that it will be able to resume in the beginning of May. The Federation might decide to postpone the games until the late summer, I have read suggestions about July and August, but the situation is complicated.

“After all, the rest of the footballing world has given us some more time to understand the emergency and now I imagine it will move forward with the necessary caution.”
