Inter Defender Asamoah: “The Situation In Italy Isn’t Good, We Didn’t Take It Seriously At First”

Inter defender Kwadwo Asamoah has given an insight into what life has been like in self isolation for the past two weeks in an interview with Ghanaian radio station Peace FM earlier on today.

Asamoah and the rest of the Inter squad were placed into a mandatory two week self isolation period after coming into contact with Juventus defender Daniele Rugani just days before he tested positive for Coronavirus.

Asamoah started by admitting that people did not take what has turned into a rather horrendous situation seriously to begin with.

“The situation in Italy has now worsened and I will say that it is not good. I am fine but the conditions here are very bad. For now we cannot go nowhere.

“All training has been cancelled and everything has been closed here in Milan. It has not been easy. We didn’t take this seriously at first. People continued to carry out their daily activities and that is why the virus spread so quickly.”

He then went on to speak about the fact that Rugani and several other football players across Italy and elsewhere in the world have contracted the virus.

“So far no Inter players have contracted the disease. It is worrying to know that some players have contracted the virus, especially players at Juventus because they are the last team we played against before the break. Today even when you have a normal cough you get scared and you think you have the virus.”

In conclusion, the full back, who joined Inter on a free transfer in the Summer of 2018, urged the Ghanaian population to take things seriously and urged them to follow any advice given by officials.

“I advise the Ghanaians to take this virus seriously. At this point they should refrain from social gatherings. It is not easy and they should follow the instructions provided by doctors and government officials.”

Inter Linked Tolisso Wants To Leave Bayern Munich This Summer

Corentin Tolisso is unhappy at Bayern Munich and wishes to leave the club in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from German broadcaster Sky Sports Deutschland.

Bayern Munich will seemingly not stand in the way of the midfielder who was part of the France squad which won the 2018 World Cup and reports elsewhere have suggested that they will accept offers in the region of €35 million for him.

The report states that Inter have shown an interest in signing him as they look to bolster their midfield department but so far there has been nothing concrete from the Nerazzurri club.

25-year-old Tolisso, who joined his current employers from Lyon in the Summer of 2017, has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date but he has been on the pitch for just 1359 minutes in total during which time he has scored three goals and provided just as many assists for his teammates.

Diego Milito: “I’m Not Surprised Inter Are Interested In Juan Musso”

In an interview with Argentine broadcaster ESPN Redes earlier on today, legendary Inter striker Diego Milito has discussed Inter’s reported interest in signing Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Inter are on the look-out for a new goalkeeper capable of playing as back-up to current number one Samir Handanovic and Musso has been very strongly linked with a move to the Nerazzurri.

“I’m not surprised by the interest of the Nerazzurri in him, I also read this news but I don’t know if it’s true. It’s something that makes me happy because he is a great professional who has shown that he can have a great future in the national team. He is doing well in Italy he has adapted very quickly.”

Milito also spoke on winning the historic treble with Inter in the 2009/10 season with him playing an absolutely integral part in it.

“Jose Mourinho was phenomenal, he is one of the best managers ever. I learned a lot from him in just one year. I have many stories to tell about what was one of the best seasons of the club’s history and my career. Mourinho was quiet before the Champions League final and there was a lot of tension but he calmed us.”

He proceeded to discuss Lautaro Martinez, who has had a real breakthrough season at Inter this term with him having netted 16 goals.

“I recently reached out to him to know how he is these days, we have a great relationship. I saw him grow up and it makes me happy to see his constant growth. He is an extraordinary boy.”

In conclusion Milito sent a message of support to Italy and Spain amid the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic: “I have a great affection for both Italy and Spain and would like to send them both a hug at this time.”

Milito, who is currently a director at Racing Club, spent five years with Inter between 2009 and 2014 during which time he made 175 appearances across all competitions in which he scored 75 goals and tallied 29 assists.

Inter Rejected Chance To Sign Palmeiras Winger Dudu In Recent Months

Inter knocked back the opportunity to sign Dudu from Palmeiras in recent months according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The intermediaries who alerted Inter about the potential availability of Bayer Leverkusen’s Charles Aranguiz also alerted Inter about the availability of Dudu, who has spent almost his entire career in Brazil other than a three and a half year spell in Ukraine with Dynamo Kyiv.

Inter however declined the opportunity to land the 28-year-old who has been with his current employers since January 2015.

The three time Brazilian national team winger has made 188 appearances across all competitions to date for Palmeiras in which he has contributed 45 goals and provided 61 assists for his teammates meaning he makes a goal contribution every one and a half games or so.

The report goes on to state that in the coming months nothing more could come of this or things could ultimately change and Inter may end up changing their mind and pursuing him.

Inter Would Prefer That Their Players Remain In Milan Despite Allowing Some To Return Home

Inter are not opposed to foreign players returning to their home countries due to the current situation but would prefer if they did not according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Marcelo Brozovic and Samir Handanovic have both been allowed to return to Croatia and Slovenia to be close to their families at this difficult time and it has been reported elsewhere that both Diego Godin and Matias Vecino could also return home to their native Uruguay.

The club would ultimately prefer for the players to remain in Milan though due to the fact that they will be obliged to enter into a two week self isolation period upon their returns, something which could prevent them from starting back training or playing in matches, depending on when they do return.

As things presently stand, it is unclear when the season will resume, if at all, but European football federations have made a commitment to European football’s governing body UEFA to have their seasons concluded by June 30.

Juventus Could Move For Inter Owned Icardi If Higuain Leaves

Juventus could make a move for Inter owned striker Mauro Icardi in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

With Gonzalo Higuain’s contract set to expire with the club at the end of next season, Juventus could look to move the experienced Argentine forward on and if they do, they will look to bring in a young replacement for him and that could well be Icardi.

Icardi is currently out on loan at reigning French champions Paris Saint Germain from Inter and PSG have an option to buy Icardi for €70 million.

If they take up their option to buy, it would remain to be seen if Juventus would still court Icardi or not but multiple reports have suggested they would be keen on doing a swap deal with the Parc des Princes outfit.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that other to Icardi, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is on their list of potential replacements if Higuain does in fact depart the club in the coming months.

Inter Could Consider Skriniar Sale If They Receive Bid Of €70m

Inter could consider the sale of defender Milan Skriniar if they are offered between €70-80 million for him according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Skriniar’s performances have dropped off this year compared to previous seasons and this can largely be put down to the fact he is having to try and get used to a new system, Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

It is Inter’s intention to try and get him back to his best and whilst they do not want to openly sell him, an offer in the region of the above could well tempt them into considering his sale.

Skriniar, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has drawn links to several clubs in recent transfer windows with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City understood to be particularly keen with Pep Guardiola believed to be a big fan of the Slovakian national team player.

FIFA President Infantino: “Dealing With Coronavirus Is The Priority, Football Comes Later”

Gianni Infantino, the president of world football’s governing body FIFA, has insisted that beating Coronavirus should be the main priority at the moment, not football.

Leagues worldwide have been halted by the global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains completely unclear as to when they might resume, if at all, even though European football federations have made a commitment to European football’s governing body UEFA to conclude their seasons by June 30 at the latest.

UEFA have already decided to postpone the European Championship’s which were due to take place this Summer to next Summer to try and help out and there have been a number of suggestions on how competitions could finish thrown out there such as the use of playoffs to decide things like league titles, European competition places and relegation.

“These are difficult days, this is a difficult time, we have a great enemy, Coronavirus. Football must show solidarity and unity, and that we are a team. It is a global problem, the virus is showing us how global the world is and global problems need global measures,” he is quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA.

Infantino, who has been the president of FIFA since 2016, then went on to call for everyone to stick together in the fight against Coronavirus.

“We must all be on the same side in the fight against the Coronavirus. This is our top priority, this situation is serious, football comes later.

“We must win the game. We will do it and we will come back stronger with new ideas and we will think about the needs of football, but now we think about fighting the Coronavirus.”
