Inter Striker Lautaro Martinez Is On Real Madrid’s New Striker Shortlist

Spanish giants Real Madrid are on the look-out for a new striker with Inter’s Lautaro Martinez understood to be on their shortlist according to a report in today’s print edition of Spanish newspaper Marca.

Los Blancos primary target is Borussia Dortmund’s teen sensation Erling Braut Haaland, who has exploded onto the scene this term having netted 40 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions to date for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Paris Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappe had been the Santiago Bernabeu’s original number one target but upon realising it would be particularly difficult to acquire him they shifted their attention to Haaland.

If unable to acquire Haaland, Real Madrid could well go in for Inter’s Lautaro Martinez, who is also strongly wanted by their arch rivals Barcelona.

The 22-year-old Argentine national team striker’s lack of a non-EU passport could complicate matters although he will be eligible for a European passport come January 2021.

AC Milan Legend Paolo Maldini: “Football Should’ve Been Stopped Sooner”

Legendary AC Milan and Italian national team defender Paolo Maldini has spoken with Milan based newspaper Corriere della Sera to provide an insight into what it is like to be living with Coronavirus.

In the past few days AC Milan confirmed that both Maldini and his son Daniel, who is a player in their youth academy, had tested positive for the virus but Maldini has said he is already starting to feel a bit better.

“I’m doing pretty well. The worst of it is over. I still have a little cough. I have lost my taste and smell, which I hope will return soon. Coronavirus is like a slightly uglier flu but it is not like a normal flu. The pains are particularly severe.”

Maldini, who spent his entire career on the books of the Rossoneri, who he is now a director of, then went on to state that football should have been stopped sooner than it was and also discussed when he thinks the football season might able to resume.

“Should football have stopped earlier? Yes. Playing behind closed doors was a risk for the fans and for the players. Playing Liverpool versus Atletico Madrid with open doors and 4000 thousand Atleti fans in the stands when Madrid had an outbreak was madness.

“When will football restart? There must be a league final, and there will be but we cannot say when. It is impossible to play football or train without making contact. We must not rush things. It does not just take two days to recover from this virus.

“All players must have time to recover and train and before going back to play it will take at least two weeks or preparation.”

In conclusion Maldini spoke on the city of Milan and shared his belief that the city will be able to recover from this virus and prosper once again.

“Milan will fly high again. Restarting is in the city’s nature. After the emergency is over a very hard time will come as the economy and small businesses will have been destroyed. Politicians must do much more.

“It is one thing to stay in your house knowing you will have something to live for but being locked in the house without certainties creates unbearable anguish. The government must understand this and show signs of understanding as soon as possible.”

Italian Sports Law Lawyer Grassani: “I Don’t Know Why UEFA Are Opposed To Playing Beyond June 30”

Top Italian sports law lawyer Mattia Grassani has explained the process that will be required to extend the current season past the end of June.

As things stand Serie A, like every other league in Europe, is currently on hold due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains to be seen when it will resume, if at all.

At a recent meeting, European football federations made a commitment to European football’s governing body UEFA to conclude their seasons by June 30 at the latest but the Italian football federation in particular have shared their concerns and stated that the season may have to go on into July.

“This case is not codified in the Statute, in the NOIF and in the Code of Sports Justice, since it is an exceptional situation that we are experiencing,” Grassani said in an interview with Milan based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

“As such, the power belongs to the president of the FIGC, with prior or subsequent ratification by the federal council. In the event of extraordinary circumstances it is necessary to intervene with extraordinary measures, and that of the extension of the season after June 30 is certainly the case.

“The measure, then, should be transmitted to UEFA and FIFA, who could exercise, a right of veto for certain reasons.

“Playing on beyond June presents some unknowns, but this is inevitable since it is an epochal decision. With the common sense of all the components it can be achieved. t

“The approval of all categories of sports workers is needed for the continuation, in the month of July and, if necessary in August.

“I don’t know why UEFA are opposed to playing beyond June 30. Frankly I don’t see anything wrong with this whatsoever. The postponement of Euro 2020 was made to allow the individual federations to finish the leagues.”

He was then asked about the plausibility of players having their salaries cut to help clubs cushion the financial blow they will incur due to the current situation.

“If all the activities were interrupted by a state authority, I don’t see how a club can be required to pay the entire fee to an athlete who has not trained or has not played matches.

“This is the classic example of impossibility of performance. To solve this problem, which is not a problem, a table, a sheet of paper and a pen are really enough. but it represents everyone. Those who love football know what to write on it.”

He concluded by discussing how he thinks the season should be decided in the event that it will not resume and the possibility of teams appealing against any decisions made.

“There are no laws or regulations on the matter that allow us to respond with black or white certainty. If a season does not end, it can be cancelled and if it is cancelled, there are no titles to be assigned.

“However, if it is considered validly concluded on a specific day, then the ranking up to that point would be valid. Appeals cannot be avoided and there will be appeals [if this happens].”

Inter Duo Brozovic & Handanovic Will Have To Self-Isolate Upon Returning To Italy

Inter players Marcelo Brozovic and Samir Handanovic will be obliged to go into a period of self-isolation upon their returns to Italy from their respective homelands according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Both players were sanctioned by Inter to return to Croatia and Slovenia respectively to be with their families amid the current ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic which has forced football across the continent to stop for the foreseeable future.

Reports in the media in the past few days have also suggested that Matias Vecino and Diego Godin could both return to Uruguay and if they do, they will be subject to the same obligations when they are to return.

As things stand it is unclear when the 2019/20 season will resume, if at all due to the ever changing situation. Multiple dates have been put out there as potential dates when the season could resume but there is so far nothing concrete in place.

Juventus Refute Claims Made By Rugani’s Fiancée That He Was Tested For Coronavirus On Same Day As Inter Match

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani did not take the test to determine whether or not he had Coronavirus on the same day as Juventus versus Inter as his fiancée Michela Persico has claimed according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Persico claimed that her partner was tested on the same day that the Bianconeri triumphed 2-0 over their Nerazzurri arch rivals at the Allianz Stadium in Turin but Juventus have refuted these claims with the report stating that the Italian centre back was in fact tested on March 11, three days after the game between the two clubs, and the test result was received on the same day.

Rugani tested positive for the virus and was one of the first high profile cases in the footballing world. He is one of three Juventus players to have tested positive for the virus with both Blaise Matuidi and Paulo Dybala also testing positive.

Manchester United Interested In Signing Inter Linked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Manchester United are keen on signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from fellow Premier League side Arsenal according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Aubameyang’s contract with the north London club is due to expire at the end of next season and with him seemingly reluctant to agree to a new deal with the club, they will be forced into selling him this Summer or will lose him for nothing next Summer unless he changes his mind about an extension.

The Gabon national team striker could cost between €55-60 million and the report states that if Arsenal were to receive that for him, they would reinvest the money into strengthening their defence.

Manchester United aside, Inter, Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona have all also been linked with him recently in other reports in the media.

The 30-year-old has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored 20 goals and provided a single assist.

Juventus Defender Rugani’s Fiancée: “He Was Tested For Coronavirus On The Same Day As Juvent us vs Inter”

Michela Persico, the fiancée of Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, has claimed that her partner was tested for Coronavirus on the same day Juventus and Inter faced off.

In the days after the fixture Juventus came out with an official statement confirming that the player had tested positive for the virus with him becoming the first Serie A player and one of the first players in Europe’s top five leagues to have tested positive.

In an interview with tpi.it, Persico firstly spoke on the days leading up to Rugani’s positive diagnosis being given.

“Daniele had just returned home from training. He was feeling unwell, had a little fever and nothing more than that but for safety he decided to spend the night at Continassa,” she started.

“He warned the rest of the team that he would be spending the night there and although the following morning he woke up and was feeling better, the club decided to perform a swap to test him for COVID-19.”

She then went on to reveal the day in which he was tested and when she was then tested for the virus, which she has also tested positive for: “Daniele did the swab test on Sunday March 8, and the result came the following day. I did it on the 16th.”

Following Rugani’s positive diagnosis, a further two Juventus players have tested positive for the virus with those players being midfielder Blaise Matuidi and attacker Paulo Dybala, whose partner has also tested positive for the virus.

Inter & Lazio Remain Interested In Signing Olivier Giroud

Inter and Lazio remain interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Both clubs showed a keen interest in signing the Frenchman during the recent January transfer window but neither club were able to get a deal done for the 33-year-old.

The clubs remain interested though and could go back in for him in the Summer when he could well be a free agent if he does not agree to a contract extension with the Premier League outfit.

Inter have identified him as a target as they want to bring in a player capable of being the back-up to Romelu Lukaku whilst Lazio wish to bolster their attack with him.

The report from the Turin based newspaper goes on to state that despite the fact Inter have been interested for longer, the prospect of more minutes at Lazio could swing things in the Biancocelesti clubs favour in the end.

Manchester United Keen On Signing Inter Defender Diego Godin

Manchester United are interested in signing Inter defender Diego Godin in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from British news outlet The Daily Mail.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to add some much needed experience to his young defence and Godin would provide exactly that.

Godin arrived at Inter this past Summer on a free transfer but has struggled to live up to expectations and has shown visible signs of struggle when it comes to trying to adapt to Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

Manchester United are however not the only club keen on signing Godin with the report also stating that Valencia as well as Godin’s former employers Atletico Madrid are both also interested.

This season the 34-year-old Uruguayan national team centre back has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date. In just over 1900 minutes in total on the field, Godin has provided a single assist.

Serie A Clubs United In Wanting To Limit Financial Damage Caused By Current Situation

All 20 Serie A clubs are united toward achieving the same objective which is limiting financial damage as much as possible according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera.

Clubs are set to take a financial hit due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and one idea they have to try and cushion to financial blow they will incur is to have players wages reduced possibly by as much as 30%.

Today, the clubs will send documentation relating to the financial damage caused by the current crisis situation to the Italian football federation.

The report goes on to add that as part of that documentation, the clubs could ask for a partial tax exemption and a fund to be created to help clubs who do not make as much money as others out.

The Italian football federation will examine the documentation sent to them and then present it to the Italian government ministry of sport next Friday.
