Inter Not Willing To Do Lautaro & Coutinho Swap Deal With Barcelona

Inter do not wish to conduct a straight swap deal with Barcelona which would see Lautaro Martinez and Philippe Coutinho exchanged according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Coutinho is currently out on loan at German giants Bayern Munich but they have no interest in signing him up on a permanent basis and Barcelona do not want to keep him either.

Barcelona value him at €90 million, €21 million less than the release clause in Lautaro Martinez’s contract with Inter, but as per the report, Inter will not entertain a swap deal.

Inter will only allow Lautaro Martinez to leave the club if they will make a significant capital gain, otherwise they will keep a hold of the highly rated 22-year-old.

The report goes on to state that Inter would be willing to take Coutinho on a two year loan deal with an option to buy which would be set at half of Coutinho’s current value against Barcelona’s books.

FIGC President Gravina: “Serie A Could Resume On May 20”

In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Giornale, Italian football federation president Gabriele Gravina has thrown another potential date when Serie A could resume out there.

Serie A, like every other league across Europe, is currently on hold due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic but it remains completely unknown as to when the league might actually start up again, if at all, given the uncertainty of the currently ever changing situation.

In previous interviews in recent weeks Gravina, who has held his current role since 2018, has suggested May 3, May 10 and May 17 as dates that the league could potentially resume and he has now given another date.

“I must repeat that these dates were only ideas and not certainties. I would like to add another add and that is May 20,” he began the interview which appeared in today’s print edition.

“Raising the shutter over Italian football will offer the country an emotional boost and help it to recover a normal sense of life.”

With uncertainty over whether the season will be able to conclude, there has been plenty of speculation about alternative ways the season could be finished with Gravina previously suggesting the use playoffs to decide the champions, European competition places and relegation.

“I proposed the idea but it was not successful and I have taken note of it. We must behave and not give an image of internal controversy and opposing visions.

“We will have to get out of this terrible storm by realising, if possible, the idea of a new kind of football as well as a new world.”

Serie A Clubs Growing Pessimistic About Chances Of 2019/20 Season Finishing

It is growing increasingly likely that the 2019/20 Serie A season will just be cancelled according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport.

All sporting activity in Italy is currently on hold until April 3 and teams are not allowed to train in groups until at least April 15 and clubs are growing pessimistic about the chances of the league campaign finishing.

Lega Serie A are trying their utmost to avoid this happening having already made a commitment to UEFA to finish the current season by June 30 at the latest.

Lega Serie A and the FIGC have however voiced concerns over the feasibility of being able to conclude the season by then and have suggested that they will need to play on until July.

The report goes on to state that an extreme scenario could see the 2019/20 season end in late July and then a week later the 2020/21 season would start up.

It goes on to conclude that there is still yet to have been a decision made on what would happen if the season was just to be cancelled with regard to titles being awarded, European competition places and relegation.

Inter Could Make Summer Transfer Window Swoop For Unhappy Atletico Madrid Player Santiago Arias

Inter could take advantage of Santiago Arias’ unhappiness at Atletico Madrid in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from FCInterNews.it.

The Colombian right back is currently unhappy in the Spanish capital due to a lack of playing time and he is understood to be willing to move on to get more regular time on the pitch.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio does in fact have good relations with the agency who represent Arias due to the fact they are the same agency who represent Inter centre back Stefan de Vrij.

Arias joined the Wanda Metropolitano side in the Summer of 2018 from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven in a €12 million deal and this report suggests that Inter, if they do go in for him, could perhaps even acquire him for less than that.

Arias, who is under contract with Atleti until the end of the 2022/23 season, has been limited to just 11 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has contributed a single assist.

Inter Legend Cambiasso: “This Is A Situation You Would Not Wish On Anyone”

Legendary Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has spoken on the current situation in Milan due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

“I am trying to let my family in Argentine know what we have experienced and they have the advantage of time and I hope that will be of help to them. There they have blocked everything much earlier and have not reached the same amount of infected and deaths that we have had here,” he admitted in an interview with Italian football journalist Pierluigi Pardo which was broadcast on Pardo’s official Instagram profile.

“Today I was talking about it with a friend of mine, I live in a street with many cars. When you go out into the garden to play with the children, you only hear ambulance sirens.

“It is a feeling of absolute sadness. Going to the supermarket you find yourself displaced, a situation you would not wish on anyone.”

He then spoke on his footballing idol when he was growing up.

“I was still small when Diego Maradona did great things for the national team. The first World Cup that I can remember was 1990, Caniggia and Diego were fantastic there. I would also say Fernando Redondo, I dreamed about him at night.”

He was then asked when he understood that he was going to do something in football.

“You never understand it. You go your own way, you don’t stop to think. I did what I had to do and I enjoyed my career. I was lucky to do what I did.

“I do not feel like a hero when there are people working in hospitals around the clock right now. It is our responsibility not to forget the doctors when we are not in trouble anymore.”

Cambiasso joined Inter in the Summer of 2004 from Spanish giants Real Madrid and he would go on to spend a total of ten years on the clubs books.

The midfielder, who won 52 caps for the Argentine national team during his playing career, made a total of 431 appearances across all competitions in his time with Inter.

He scored 51 goals and provided his teammates with 34 assists and won no less than 15 trophies for the club, including the Champions League in the 2009/10 season which formed part of a historic treble win.

Inter CEO Marotta: “We Have A Responsibility To Ensure That We Can Get Back To A Normal Life As Soon As Possible”

In an interview with the Italian Sporting Directors Association’s official Instagram profile, Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has spoken on the current crisis situation.

All sporting activity in Italy is currently on hold until at least April 3 due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and it remains a complete mystery as to when football could return, if at all.

Many leagues across Europe have taken the decision to postpone their leagues indefinitely due to the crisis and there is lots of speculation about ways seasons can be finished.

“In such a difficult moment, we have rightly been forced into isolation that keeps us away from work and in many cases even our most loved ones. We have a high sense of responsibility to ensure that we can get back to a normal life as soon as possible,” he began.

“I make this message to feel close to each of you. The current blockade of all sports has happened so that you and your families economic security can be guaranteed.”

Ivan Cordoba: “Adriano Could’ve Got Very Close To Ronaldo’s Level, I Hope Lautaro Stays At Inter”

In an interview with Inter’s stadium announcer Mirko Mengozzi, legendary Inter centre back Ivan Cordoba discussed a range of Inter related topics.

Cordoba joined Inter in 2000 and spoke on what it felt like to join the team at that time.

“It was absurd and incredible to me that such a team wanted me to play alongside Baggio, Blanc, Vieri, Zanetti, Zamorano, Ronaldo, I couldn’t believe it and I couldn’t wait to get there,” he began the interview which was broadcast on Mengozzi’s Instagram profile.

“20 years have passed since I joined, the years go by but those moments remain as do the relationships with those players with whom you have spent beautiful and also difficult moments with.”

He then spoke on what it felt like to be part of the Inter team that won the famous treble containing the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League in the 2009/10 season.
“Up to a certain point we didn’t realise what we were doing because the manager made us concentrate on one goal, he certainly had in mind where we could go, but we went goal by goal and each final was like a world cup final for us.

“We had to go to Rome for the Italian Cup and we had to win it in any way. Once that was won, we had to think about Siena. We all worked together to achieve that dream, but there was an optimism so high that everything led to winning the Champions League.”

He was then asked if the semi-finals against Barcelona were more like finals than the final itself which was played against Bayern Munich at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
“There was that feeling, because you know that you faced and beat the strongest team because Barcelona was the team expected to win.

“As Mourinho said, it was our life’s best defeat at Camp Nou, spending the match with ten men behind the ball was crazy but only in this way could the objective we had be achieved. After that game we said knew that nobody else could win it other than us.”

He then went on to discuss the final itself and how it felt to be part of it.
“Just being there was fantastic. The stadium was a unique show, among their fans and ours who have never seen choreographies before.

“The fact ours was better than that of the Bayern supporters hyped us up more. I am very religious. It was May 22, the day of Santa Rita and we are very devoted, we lit candles in Santa Rita, we prayed and asked for this miracle, we talked about 45 years without winning it.

“We always remember this Saint, she was a help from heaven. It had to be like this, it was a beautiful thing.”

He then recalled what then Inter manager Jose Mourinho told the team prior to them taking to the pitch.

“In these situations he was crazy, extraordinary and did not make tactical speeches but emotional speeches. So either it charges you or it lowers your tension because if you are with too high tension he will lower it to you as he did in Barcelona.

“We were 150% agitated, we couldn’t wait to go out on the pitch and he, I remember, was sitting on a chair, with his feet crossed on the table and pretending he didn’t feel anything, he was calm.

“He said: “Don’t worry guys, go on the pitch and do what you have to do.” Then in Madrid he said it was everyone’s dream and then he told us that it was a dream especially for our families always close to us and we had to go and give a beautiful gift to everyone.

“At that moment what else could he say? There is no point in talking tactics because if at that moment you do not have in mind who you have to face, you are not worthy of being there.”

He then went on to reveal that he is still in touch with his teammates from that time.

“We have a good relationship, everyone knows that we have a chat and that we text each other almost every day. We joke and remember that time together. The idea is to always stay close even if we are in different parts of the world. It is nice to have this because we still feel together.”

The Colombian then proceeded to speak on which of his former Inter teammates he had the best relationship with.

“I think the relationship I have with Zanetti is something special. I have always seen him as an example from the first day I arrived, then a very close relationship was born.

“He gave me a very big hand when I arrived at Inter, I have always been very grateful to him but he has a great relationship with all of us, for us Javier is our captain.”

He then spoke on Mario Balotelli’s infamous gesture against Barcelona when he threw the Inter top to the floor and how the team reacted to it.

“We got angry and I think he understood this. He was very young, I think it was a mistake.”

Cordoba then discussed what feelings he had when he finally got to raise the Champions League trophy aloft.

“I had a particular feeling because I went back in time and thought about all the difficulties we had, all the moments when we got to the final but something didn’t keep us going. Arriving there and raising that trophy together with teammates with whom I had fought for so long was nice.”

Cordoba then went on to suggest one of his compatriot’s that he would like to see Inter sign.

“There is a player that I would have brought to Inter but there are teams in Europe that move well and quickly and Porto did it, it is Luiz Diaz. He is a very skilled player in one on one situations, he is very good and effective. In my opinion, he would do very well in a team like Inter.”

He was then asked what for his opinion on former Inter striker Ronaldo and whether or not Adriano could have reached the same level as him had he not had his well documented issues.

“Il Fenomeno did things in training that you didn’t think existed. Although after the injury he was a little afraid. He did things he invented. We woke up happy because we waited for training to see what he was going to do. Sometimes he made fun of us because you didn’t know where you ended up against him.

“Could Adriano have reached his levels? I think not, but I think he could have come very close. He had devastating power. Adriano had tremendous strength and shooting ability, he had other skills that I think could have won him the Ballon d’Or, but I don’t think he would have reached Ronaldo’s level.”

Cordoba then discussed former Inter president Massimo Moratti.

“I could write a book on Moratti. I spoke to him a few days ago, I was pleased to know that everyone is well. He has the ability to lift you up and make you feel good. He was like a parent for all of us and we should all thank him because he showed so much trust.”

He was then asked if he thinks that Lautaro Martinez will stay at Inter with speculation over a move to Barcelona persisting.

“I hope so because I think the joy you get at Inter is not the same as elsewhere. This is his Inter and wherver he goes it will not be his team. I hope he stays and can enjoy the success that will come soon. I am confident and hope that he will remain and get better.”

In conclusion he sent a message to everyone amidst the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.
“A big hug to all of you, and to the fans, don’t despair. Stay united. Let’s pray for those who are not so well and please help all the doctors because they can’t take it anymore. A big hug, a lot of strength, a lot of affection and above all Forza Inter, always.”
