Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso would like to keep Dries Mertens with the club past the end of this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

Mertens current contract with the club is due to expire in a couple months and talks have taken place over a contract extension but many reports have stated that these talks have stalled.

Inter Target Nelson Semedo Set To Leave Barcelona For Manchester City

Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo is on the brink of securing a Summer transfer window move to Manchester City according to a report from Spanish news outlet Sport.

The Portuguese national team defender is set to be exchanged for compatriot Joao Cancelo with the reigning Premier League champions also set to throw in some cash on top of Cancelo due to the fact Semedo has a higher transfer value.

Barcelona have given Semedo’s agent Jorge Mendes the green light to negotiate his departure from the club and Manchester City have led the way for his signature from the beginning.

Barcelona are weighing up the latest offer that they have received from Manchester City and sources close to the deal have told Sport that a deal is getting closer.

Semedo has also been linked with a move to Inter in recent weeks but Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri would appear set to miss out on the former Benfica player.

Inter & Juventus Interested In Roma’s €30M Rated Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini

Inter and Juventus are both interested in Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini and could make a move for him in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The 23-year-old is under contract with the Italian capital city club until the end of the 2021/22 season and there have been talks over a contract extension but these talks are currently at a stalemate.

If an agreement over a new deal is not found by the beginning of July, Pellegrini will continue to have his €30 million release clause, a clause which makes him further attractive to other interested clubs.

For the time being Inter and Juventus are focusing on other players and there has been no direct contact with Roma over the Italian national team player but they continue to monitor his situation, just like reigning French champions Paris Saint Germain.

This season Pellegrini has made 24 appearances across all competitions. He has scored three goals and has provided 11 assists for his teammates.

Spanish Report Claims Barcelona Unlikely To Meet Inter’s Demands For Lautaro Martinez

It is unlikely that Barcelona will meet Inter’s demands for Lautaro Martinez or pay his release clause according to a report from Spanish news outlet AS.

In the past few days Inter set out their demands for the 22-year-old striker and the demands consist of €90 million plus Arturo Vidal on a permanent basis and Antoine Griezmann on loan for the season or his €111 million release clause is paid.

Barcelona are unlikely to meet the demands not only because it would take a significant financial outlay but also because some of the club’s management have serious doubts over how much the Argentine is truly worth.

The report from the Spanish news outlet goes on to state that if Lautaro does indeed leave Inter, the Nerazzurri club have set their sights on bringing in RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner to replace him.

The 24-year-old German has a €60 million release clause and has also been linked with a move to Premier League club Liverpool.

Lega Serie A President Dal Pino: “We Want To Resume The Season But We’ll Follow Whatever Italian Government Decides”

Lega Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino has sent an open letter to Italian government minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora following his comments earlier on today.

In an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 3, Spadafora warned that unless there is an agreement on the safety protocol then the Italian government will declare the remainder of the 2019/20 season cancelled.

The season has been on hold for close to two months now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and Spadafora also appealed for everyone to come together as now is not the time for division.

“I very much appreciate the words of Minister Spadafora this morning and his appeal,” Dal Pino began an open letter to him which was posted on Serie A’s official website.

Dal Pino went on to explain that Lega Serie A are eager to hold talks and echoed Spadafora’s calls for unity.

“The Lega Serie A has always and always will be eager to engage in constructive dialogue, in the certainty that the work of the Minister for Sport and ours cannot help but be aimed at a common good.

“This is a terrible time for the country and the world, so we can only emerge from it if we stay united. As with all Italians, we want to get back to work and experiencing regular life as soon as possible.”

Dal Pino then went on to insist that the Lega Serie A wish to resume the season but if not possible they will follow what the Italian government tell them to do.

“It’s only natural that the Lega Serie A wants to resume playing football, it would be unnatural to suggest otherwise. Anyone with a profession will always want to continue doing it.

“If it’s possible to do so while respecting the norms and medical protocols, good. Otherwise we will rigorously follow, as we always have done, the decisions of the Government.

In conclusion Dal Pino stated: “The Minister can be certain of our constructive and collaborative spirit and that my unity with FIGC President Gabriele Gravina is absolute.”

Italian Sports Minister Spadafora: “If No Agreement On Safety Protocol Government Will Declare The Season Over”

In an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 3 today, Italian government minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora has warned that the season will not resume and will be cancelled by the Italian government unless an agreement is reached in relation to the safety protocol.

The 2019/20 Serie A season, as well as all other sporting seasons in Italy, has been on hold for almost two months now due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic.

“If the protocol is agreed by all parties, training will resume and this will have a positive impact on possibly resuming the season,” he began the interview which took place earlier on today.

“Vice versa, if there is no agreement on the safety protocol, the Government will declare – due to a public health emergency – that the season is over, even if it means creating the conditions to ensure the football world doesn’t suffer as many damages.

“Essentially, we will take on that responsibility.”

Spadafora concluded by insisting that now is not the time for division and stated what he believes football must be about.

In the past few weeks there has been a lot of bickering with many club presidents unhappy with decisions being made and some reports have stated that whilst some clubs wish to resume the season there are others who do not want to resume the season.

“In my view, we need to launch an appeal to the Lega Serie A to stop the controversy and clashes. Football must be a symbol of joy, passion and sport, we should only be divided by cheering on our own teams.”

Inter Wont Activate €12M Clause To Sign Victor Moses From Chelsea

Inter do not want to pay €12 million to sign Nigerian International Victor Moses on a permanent basis from Chelsea according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Nigerian national team player joined Inter on a six month loan deal this past January and as part of that deal Inter obtained an option to buy at €12 million.

Inter could still keep Moses with the club but only if they are to receive a discount from Chelsea. If Inter do not sign Moses on a permanent basis they will look to add another player to compete with Antonio Candreva for the right wing back slot.

Whilst Moses is facing an uncertain future with the Nerazzurri, one player who is not is Ashley Young. Young arrived on a six month deal back in January and having impressed, Inter are to take up their option to extend his contract by a season.
