Roma Captain Edin Dzeko’s Wife: “It Was His Decision Entirely To Reject Inter & Chelsea”

Edin Dzeko’s wife Amra Silajdžić has confirmed that the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team striker made the decision to reject the advances of other clubs this past Summer entirely on his own.

The veteran Roma player drew strong links to both Inter and Chelsea and at one stage he appeared set to move to Inter before performing a u-turn and signing a contract extension with the Giallorossi club.

“When it comes to football we evaluate everything together, however, it was Edin who made this decision. I am happy to have stayed. Rome is our second home,” Silajdžić, who has been married to Dzeko since 2014, explained in an interview with Rome based newspaper Il Tempo, an interview which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

This season the former Manchester City man, who is under contract with the Italian capital city side until the end of the 2021/22 season, has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date.

In just over 2700 minutes on the park, the 2016/17 Serie A top scorer, has scored 15 goals and provided a total of nine assists for his teammates.

Mircea Lucescu: “I Resigned From Inter I Wasn’t Sacked, Ronaldo Is The Greatest Player I’ve Coached”

Former Inter manager Mircea Lucescu has admitted that he chose to leave and was not sacked by Inter in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

The Romanian, who is one of the most decorated managers of all time, spent a few months in charge of the club between January and March 1999.

He managed the club in 17 matches across all competitions but was far from successful with him winning just four of those matches.

“I resigned, I was not sacked. The biggest mistake was that Lippi’s arrival for the following season had already been announced and it was as if I had been destabilised in the eyes of the team. I could only leave,” he remarked.

Lucescu also went on to admit that Il Fenomeno Ronaldo was the best player who he ever managed, even though he only managed the Brazilian for a few months whilst at Inter.

“Ronaldo is the greatest player I have ever coached. Unfortunately, that year he had many physical troubles. Yes, Baggio also played in that Inter, he was a top player, but not like Ronaldo.”

Upon leaving Inter he has went on to manage the likes of Galatasaray, Besiktas and most notably Shakhtar Donetsk, who he led to no less than 22 trophies, including the 2008/09 UEFA Cup. The 74-year-old was last in charge of the Turkish national team between 2017 and 2019

Inter Legend Ruben Sosa: “Inter Are The Strongest Team I Ever Played For, I Had A Lot Of Fun At Inter”

In an interview with Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com, legendary Inter attacker Ruben Soa has spoken on a range of Inter related topics and started by recalling the club’s 1994 UEFA Cup final success.

“I was only at Inter for three years but I seem to have lived 10 years because of the affection of the fans. We won the UEFA Cup, yes, but in the league it was very tough,” he began the interview.

“In the first leg we won 0-1 away, then luckily Zenga saved everything. Another very difficult game was the one against Borussia Dortmund.

“Inter, as I’ve always said, are the strongest team I ever played for. I had a lot of fun at Inter.”

He then spoke on his arrival at Inter from fellow Serie A side Lazio and revealed that then president Ernesto Pellegrini’s wife did not want him to join the club.

“The move to Inter was incredible. I went to Pellegrini’s house and his wife asked me for an autograph for their daughter. My agent later told me that the president no longer wanted me but in reality it was his wife.

“I contacted Pellegrini and told him that If I score 20 goals he accepts my demands, if I didn’t, I would accept his offer. He accepted and in the middle of the first year I had already scored 22 goals.”

Next he spoke more on Pellegrini and the man who replaced him at the helm of the club, Massimo Moratti.

“They were both great presiedents. Pellegrini was a friend, he has always remained close to me. Moratti was then the president of a large family. I had a great time with him and even when I was injured he helped me a lot. He gave everything for Inter and he would have given his life too.”

Sosa proceeded to speak on legendary Inter captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi and revealed a similarity between Bergomi and Moratti.

“At the beginning he never spoke but he was always a great captain, I was always inspired by him.

“I remember he used to get up and pray at three in the morning and I asked him why he did it and he said he did it for the team. I then told him to stop doing it and I’d take care of things and score two goals. He taught me a lot and he, like Moratti, would have given his lift for Inter.”

Sosa proceeded to speak on two compatriots of his who are currently at Inter, Diego Godin and Matias Vecino.

“Godin is a great man, a leader and a professional. He is aware that Inter are a great club and although he cannot play every game now that he is no longer a boy, he always does very well in complex games. You have to play him in the most difficult matches, he is a team player.

“As for Vecino, he is perhaps a little too serious, maybe he lacks a little bit of joy but that is probably because he cares so much about doing well and therefore puts pressure on himself.”

Sosa then went on to speak about the race for the Serie A title and shared his belief that both Inter and other former employers Lazio can stop Juventus.

“Lazio were doing very well up until the stop. Both they and Inter can stop Juventus and this is probably the right year to do so. They must try to beat the Bianconeri.”

He concluded by speaking on Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project and stressed that San Siro must not be knocked down as part of it.

“The Meazza is the most beautiful stadium that I played in. Maybe it is a little too big by today’s standards but it has to stay, it should not be torn down.”

A lot of defensive midfielders can strike a longshot, but how many have the composure to pull this out in a UEFA Cup final? 🏆

Andrea Pinamonti: “I Dream Of Asserting Myself At A Great Club & I’ll Never Forget My Inter Debut”

Andrea Pinamonti has revealed he has his sights set on cementing his place at a top club in an interview with Italian based newspaper L’Adige.

The highly rated Italian youth national team striker is currently on the books of Serie A club Genoa but is due to return to Inter in the upcoming Summer transfer window due to there being a gentleman’s agreement between the clubs for Inter to buy him back.

“I have a lot of dream. The first is to assert myself at a great club, the second is to win important trophies and finally, but equally important, to be part of the Italian national team,” he explained.

The 20-year-old forward then revealed that he has always idolised former Inter and current AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“My idol has always been Ibrahimovic, I grew up watching his videos. Then after my arrival at Inter, training with Icardi, I learned a lot from him too.”

He also went on to speak about the brief experience that he has had with the Inter first team.

“I have to thank Roberto Samaden for my Inter career. I won many trophies and scored a lot of goals in Inter’s academy. My debut at San Siro was really exciting and I will never forget it.”

This season Pinamonti has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided three assists for his Rossoblu teammates.

Reports in the media as of late have suggested that Pinamonti’s return to Inter could be short lived with them suggesting that Inter could use him as part of a deal for another player.

Italian Sports Minister Spadafora: “At Least 1 More Week Needed To Decide If Serie A Season Can Resume”

Italian government minister for sport and youth policies Vincenzo Spadafora has revealed that entire teams will be forced into quarantine if one player is to test positive for Coronavirus when team training resumes.

The Italian government have given the green light for teams to start training as a team again starting next Monday, which will be two weeks since players were able to train on an optional individual basis.

“The scientific committee asks for changes linked to the FIGC protocol: for example, to ensure that if a positive case should emerge during training, all the players and coaching staff remain in quarantine without any external contacts or that club doctors are responsible for implementation of the protocol,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Rai 1 earlier on today.

“It also asks that molecular tests are at the expense of clubs and not the public: if the FIGC accepts these things, team training can start again.”

He was then asked when the 2019/20 campaign could resume if at all.

“When will the season be able to resume? The line of prudence is the right one. It’ll take at least another week to understand the contagion curve and then make a decision on the campaign.

“All team training will start again on May 18 and I’ll present the document tomorrow to ensure that all sports complexes safely reopen, starting with gyms, by the end of May.”

The season has now been on hold for over two months and it remains to be seen as to whether Serie A will follow in the footsteps of the German Bundesliga by restarting.

Reports in the media have speculated about potential return dates for a good few weeks now as well as ways the remainder of the season could possibly be played out in the event that it cannot be carried out as would have been typically the case.
