Davide Santon has denied that he turned down an approach from Inter Milan and was forced to accept by Newcastle United, saying he had just needed a bit of time to consider their offer on transfer deadline day.
Santon, 24, completed his return on Monday to the club where Jose Mourinho launched his career, but his girlfriend suggested via Twitter that Newcastle had forced the Italian full-back to leave on deadline day against his own wishes.
