Inter’s Brazilian defender Joao Miranda gave a long interview with Serie A’s official channel speaking on a wide variety of topics ranging from his first contact with football in Brazil to Mauro Icardi.

“I’m a player who looks to demonstarte his leadership on the pitch by playing good football, I don’t need to make gestures against the crowd. I look simply towards being a leader in the best way possible for my team. During the course of my career I have always looked to talk less and concentrate on my job. I’m a serious and correct person, always looking to give the best for my team, no matter what the crowd or the media thinks. The only thing I care about is making my teammates happy by achieving our objectives.”

“I’m very proud of the fact that I’ve been voted the best Brazilian defender on 4 occasions. Aside from being a technical player, I’m pretty fast and have a good sense of positioning. I think that in order to be a complete defender you have to have all of these qualities.

Miranda then spoke of Inter’s objectives this season stating that “our objective is to finish in the highest position in the league table as possible. We know that it’s difficult to finish top of the league but itäs not impossible, so as long as there is a chance we have to have it in our sights, without losing sight of the fact that our goal is to qualify for the Champions League. Pioli’s arrival? I think we have good players, but tactically we were lacking something. Pioli gave us what we were lacking, making us stronger tactically and mentally. He has brought all the big players together and united them to work for the team.”

The captain of the Brazilian national team then moved on to speak about Juventus stating that “several years ago Juventus started a transformation process. Today they are a strong team, because their fans accepted this process. They also knew when to take their opportunity. I think that Juventus will rmeian a great squad for a long time, because they are a club that are being run well and who you can expect the maximum from, both management and players. So yes, I see Juventus as a very strong team, but I think that Inter can reach Juventus’ levels because we have the quality to do so.”

“It will be difficult for me to play for Juventus in the future, Inter have always treated me well, the fans as well as the management. Inter took me into their house like a son and I’ve treated very well by everyone. Inter has a place in my heart. Icardi? Mauro is doing well, I think the fact that he’s scored so many goals at his young age makes him a very special player. I think Icardi is one of the best players in the Serie A, given both his young age and the number of goals that he is scoring” Miranda concluded.
