The second part of Antonio Candreva’s interview with SportWeek has been released. The Inter and Italy winger answered a number of questions on an array of topics:
You were chosen by Mancini, played under de Boer now you’re coached by Pioli, Who among the three, do you think has quality that is of fundamental importance?
“I was excited, but I’ve never worked with Mancini. I’m sorry about how things went with De Boer, as he worked hard. But I think Pioli has the ability to be always on task, even during the week, he’s always careful.”
Is it better to have a dressing room made up with an Italian majority or foreigners?
“A group with more Italians is unable to create a hard core which can then help the kids who come from other countries to integrate better.”
Who has the most hunger to win? An Italian or a foreigner in Italy?
“Italians abroad have always done very well.”
What are the differences between the Rome and Milan derbies?
“In Rome hundreds of people are out at the training grounds. And the “post-derby” lasts a week. In Milan, the atmosphere is more quiet with the fans. Milanisti and Inter fans go to the stadium together. It would be not be possible in Rome. The field you play on is the same and they are both special games and want to win them.”
For weeks you kept repeating that despite differences of opinions at Lazio there was no problem in rebuilding your relationship with Pioli. Where were you when you found out?
“At the meeting with the national team. I was teased: “Now he’ll find your dad!” We say so because between fathers and sons it is often discussed. The truth is that at Lazio there had been frictions that are part of our job, but we never took that in to the national team. There was not even the need to tell us, we have only talked about how to make the most of things for the good of Inter.”
Would it have been better to stay at Lazio since the work Inzaghi has done?
“Simone has expressed his wish to stay. I worked with him last year and I always said I would have a great future.”
How crazy is this Inter?
“It’s crazy, but we have to make it our own”
