Gazzetta dello Sport have looked at what they’re calling a “troubled year” for Mauro Icardi despite him scoring 21 times and coming close to double figures in assists. Icardi has failed to score away from home since September and will again seek redemption tonight against Fiorentina. He remains involved in the triangle with Wanda Nara and Maxi Lopez and segments of his autobiography created great controversy. Icardi went as far as shouting at his team mates in the dressing room against Crotone in recent weeks, a game which Pioli admitted he wasn’t at his best for. Furthermore, it’s been another year without Champions League football and he continues to be excluded from the Argentina national team.
