Captain Mauro Icardi spoke to Premium Sport after Inter’s 5-4 defeat to Fiorentina tonight and expressed his disappointment.
“There is little to say, the second half was inexplicable. We had to close the game but we conceded four goals in 15 minutes and we can not afford to do that,” he said.
The hat-trick hero was then asked about what has happened in a month since Inter last won a match – the 7-1 demolition of Atalanta.
“There is no explanation, it is a month I can not even describe. Everything went wrong, we can not reverse this situation; we, the players and the staff must get out of this period that’s penalising us because we are not playing how we were before.”
Icardi then spoke about Stefano Pioli and whether he thinks he’ll be fired or not.
“In my opinion he has the confidence of the club because he has demonstrated his technical and moral values, I think he is a coach that has given us so much.”
The striker was then asked about what explanation the players gave after the defeat.
“None. We have to look at our mistakes and correct them. In my opinion we have a team that deserves to play in the Europa League. We’ll see, we have five games left. Until the 28th May we have to try, running and putting all the bad things behind us.”
