Borja Valero analyzed the match in an interview with Inter TV after the 1-1 draw against Fiorentina in Serie A at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.
The former Fiorentina player began by talking about how it was to return back to him old stomping ground saying: “It was an emotional atmosphere for me personally today, especially at the end of the game. You have a better understanding of what you left with the people. It was a hard fought game like they all are for us. It was a great match for everyone.”
He was asked to reflect on an opportunity he missed during the second half when he headed over the bar from close range saying that “it’s not my best trait. I was a bit wide of the goal and it wasn’t easy to score. With Joao Mario playing wide it is different because he tends to come inside more so than Candreva does. We lacked some intensity on the ball. It’s something we have done well this season and we need to rediscover that again. The break has come at the right time. Now we all go home nice and calm and relax so then we can return with more strength after the break.”
