Stefan de Vrij has confirmed he has signed a five year deal with Inter that will come in to effect on July 1, the day after his contract with fellow Serie A side Lazio expires.

“I have signed a five-year contract with Inter. I can not wait to begin this adventure,” the Dutchman told reporters from Dutch outlet AlgemenDagblad on the sidelines of the Netherlands training camp ahead of upcoming international friendlies.

The 26-year-old’s move north to San Siro has been anything but a secret in recent weeks with many others already confirming the transfer. Now all that remains is official confirmation from Inter themselves before de Vrij can get going in Nerazzurri.

De Vrij played no less than 47 games for Lazio last season and scored a very impressive seven goals from central defence. He is one of two free transfers coming in to Inter in the summer with a deal for Juventus’ Kwadwo Asamoah understood to already be in place too.
